It is amazing how easy and quick it is to order a new iPhone online. When I get the impulse to do so it’s possible to order another iPhone 12 model within thirty seconds, even on Apple Card Monthly Installments, and receive it within a business day or two — or within two hours for a $9 fee.

Granted, I usually come to my senses before checking out since I’ve only tested iPhone 12 Pro Max this generation but it is incredible how Apple’s e-commerce business functions in 2021.

When I read the description for Zagg regards GuardVision+ they speak about blue light filtering. I have try the iPhone 12 with good blue light protection glasses and they don’t make the Display for me more usable. I don’t think that a screen protector could distort the flickering in such a way that I could be easier for the eyes. But I could try it with the next Pro Max. I need to try every straw that is possible when Apple again will nothing meaningful do about pwm.

If you use this option, how does it get delivered? Is it in a bag or the regular box? I ask because if it's delivered in a bag, then it makes it hard to do a return by mail.
I’m not sure. I assume it’d be a box delivered directly from a retail store, but iPhone boxes are so small it’s easy to find a box or even a padded envelope to fit it.

I've used iPhones since 3G. This is the first time I've heard of this PWM.

To be fair this happens only on OLED iPhones so iPhone X onwards (excluding XR and 11). I do not have issues either but I am just saying it is not like every iPhone has caused PWM issues for people.

If I record video of my iPhone screen I do see the flickering btw. However it seems that my eyes ignore it when I look at the phone. Though my average daily screen time is rather minimal - 30 minutes per day. Especially now that I work from home.

Have you ever video taped a computer screen? It flickers like crazy but you can't see it when just looking at it. I think Oleg is beautiful and glad I have it. I had it one my ipx and now my ip12

Just my last update on the 12, i did try the super premium (expensive) gamers edition from Zagg with 2x more eye protection ********. I must say it looks nice on the device and feels smooth, but didn't help a bit for the eyestrain.

So i returned my 4th iPhone 12,12pro today. i am done trying these phones they always end up giving me terible headaches.

conclusion = for me personally i did try everything to get used to the 12 series but nothing worked.
To sum this up for all of you wondering:

- 12 or 12 pro - no big difference
- privacy screen protector - small difference, but not good enough to keep the device
- blue light filters normal protector - nothing
- premium blue light protector - nothing
- using the device without auto brightness - no difference
- keeping the brightness between 21 en 50 percent - small improvement - not enough to keep the device
- whitepoint - no differnce
- using for a longer period of time (2months) no difference, problems stay but i got used to the weird feeling in my head and regular headaches

For me the only solution was to get back to my iphone 8. I replaced the battery so i can use it a bit longer :)
lets hope the 13 is better for us!

When Apple releases a new version of iOS I do look out for a flicker-free Accessibility option.

It’s unlikely, but iOS 15 apparently does have new Display Accessibility options.

Any changes on the beta?

Can someone clarify this for me... Is PWM worse at high brightness or low brightness?

My current phone is a Galaxy S7 that apparently has a low PWM of 236 Hz. Unless I'm outside my indoors brightness is never set to more than 25% or so as I like a dimmer screen. Using the phone in bed at night my brightness is all the way down. I have no nausea or headache issues using this phone.

Would I be safe to pick up an iPhone 12 if my eyes don't mind this current display? I'd likely have the iPhone brightness down to a similar 25-30% the large majority of the time I'd use the phone.

It's worse at low brightness. Many videos on youtube. Can't comment on S7 v 12 since I haven't used either.

I'm working under the assumption that the frequency has more to do with it than the brand of phone, though maybe slightly different display tech might be worse than others. If my Samsung is at 236 Hz and the iPhone 12 appears to hit 220-something Hz maybe that small difference won't be a problem for me if 236 Hz is already usable to my eye.

I had no idea PWM was even a thing until I started researching the 12 recently. I was pretty excited to get one but this issue has given me pause for sure.
