I was also told by a CS rep that the 12.9” iPP would definitely be shipping by the 24th. He was very adamant about it too. I’d say if the options are still available for purchase on the site then you can nab them (getting them on release). Just my take.
I have the same opinion. When I ordered my 12.9" version it said it would ship by the 24th. I think this holds true as long as it's available for pre-order.
Yeah, same here. If it was not available anymore they wouldn’t keep selling it. It’d be “coming soon” like the options that aren’t available anymore or just sold out period. I said this before about the PS5 preorder, but once stock was depleted they didn’t keep selling it.
Any Best Buy movement to report? No progress on my end... I normally wait for an email. I'm guessing ship by 21st.. Best Buy means literally. Perhaps, I have to wait till those who ordered from Apple get theirs on launch day before Best Buy ships my order.

It's no need to call, I'm not sure about your order. But my email states "Ship by 21st." So, no cause for concern... I was just expecting that they'll ship it early like they did with the AirTags.
I thought the 5/6/21 BB email said both that "release date" and "get it by" date was 5/21/21.
CDW takes Apple's embargo to translate "release" as "ship" so shipping on 5/21 then receive on 5/24 which would be not unlike the BB web language in the screenshot I posted.

The BestBuy email I obtained on May 6th says “Get it by - Friday 5/21” I ordered within 1min of preorders going live.
I’m starting to doubt that but anything is possible since BestBuy does same day shipping in my area for certain products.

Let’s take a step back… first we received a fulfillment date and that date was 5/21. But the order still stated ”Will Ship By” 21st. So, regardless of the release date… Best Buy still kept the ship date the same. And I said back in the post…. Retailers, especially Best Buy would stock in stores and not fulfill preorders first.
So, come Friday… I’ll have to look out for stock in stores if it doesn’t ship.
That email on the 6th does not say Get it by the 21st... it only acknowledged the release date for the iPad Pros.
My email DID say "Get it by the 21st" - I have no problem waiting a little longer but I can indeed confirm it said "Get it by" see my image below - obviously cropped to preserve personal data.

This is what bothers me the most. Best Buy is a well known retailer... the biggest brick-and-motar electronic retailer in the US. For them to supposedly not have any stock now Is very odd.
Not sure why but I am seeing this new practice from BB where they ship out from individual stores. Today my Logitech Combo Touch iPad Pro 12.9 case shipped out but shows as coming from a individual Best Buy Store in Oklahoma and not a distribution warehouse.
Hopefully this is not the way they will fulfill the iPad orders as I think that is a problem waiting to happen. Will see...

This is what happened with my AirPods Max - they came from a random store in Iowa.
That’s silly. If Best Buy going to resort to shipping orders from stores… what was the purpose of preorders?
It looks that way. We would have gotten shipping notification by now. Looks like wherever we ordered from…. They gonna take stock from nearby stores.
I don’t get the logic behind “Bestbuy prioritizes in store stock before preorders get shipped.” That defies the laws of preordering. It makes sense for preorders to be prioritized first, and the remaining stock to be distributed. Even if some stores get 1-2. I won’t get annoyed until after the 24th but Bestbuy still shows the 12.9 256 “Shipping by the 24th.” I would imagine if they didn’t have any we’d see “Coming soon.”
That makes sense. But I believe some Best Buy employee was on the forum and spoke about how having stock in physical stores benefits Best Buy. Trying to sell accessories, Geek Squad services.. all that stuff helps Best Buy. But I feel the same way that you do… I feel preorders should be fulfilled before having stock in store.
The order doesn’t have a tracking number attached to it. The status still says “Preorder,” but when I log into my UPS account.. there’s a tracking number, but no information is provided.
