I seriously don't even know more than 5 people with an Android. Does not affect me one bit.
Most the people I know with iPhone are old or tech inept that i don't interact with much so same here.

That aside all I ever hear about this "bubble" thing is that kids harass each other but ive never actually seen anything about kids harassing each other. Just people talking about it online. Kids will harass you if the yellow stripe on your shirt is to yellow. Kids are morons.

If the company is not beholden to their customers, they will fail—-the proof is on the pudding.

Bingo.

I don’t see how, can you explain?

Where was Tim snide and condescending?

No sh** Sherlock :). But thanks for the affirmation.

If Apple made an app for Android, and let's say Google paid Apple a billion dollars for that to be a default app already installed, that might be construed as anti-competitive reminiscent of Microsoft and their browser issues in the 90s. I'm not saying it's exactly the same, and popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook probably have a much better foothold than internet browsers in the 90s did, but if iMessage suddenly was 99% of the messaging apps used it might cause issues, or not who knows.

Snide and condescending is my personal opinion, instead of making an attempt to explain why it wouldn't work for Apple as a company he just brushed it off as if the journalist's mother (and Android consumers in general) just have the wrong phone if they want to interface with iPhone users. Again, just my personal opinion.

The real issue here is why the carriers didn't adopt the universal RCS years ago, the answer is simple, greed and complacency. BOTH Google and Apple should be putting the carrier's feet to the fire, but of course they would never bite the hand that feeds them.

That’s false, there are a number of “standards” in the phone. However they want their ecosystem the way they want it. And thankfully lightning is still in the iPhone 14. I don’t pay $30 for a lightning cable. Not even $10.
Why would you be thankful fo lightning port? It's worse than USB C in every way, even Apple admitted that much and eliminated it from most of their iPad lineup.

More Apple stupidity.

I mean they market the "privacy" nonsense but are cool with SMS?

Do they still think iMessage is a selling feature?

As someone that's been using iPhone since 2007, I will never understand other iPhone users unhinged loyalty to iMessage and "blue bubbles". All my communication is done through Discord/Telegram/Messenger or hell, even IRC lol

maybe Android users should start bullying iPhone users that exclusively use iMessage.
Because all those suck compared to iMessage.

WhatsApp should just copy every feature of iMessage but that company is run so poorly they have the worst messaging app that everyone uses (me included). It’s terrible compared to iMessage - why can’t they just copy it and make it modern.

Tim's "let them eat cake" moment, not his finest. He comes across as a completely disconnected near billionaire. This is what the elites are like, they know best, they will decide FOR you.

This is a problem only in the US. No one in Europe or elsewhere uses iMessage. Even friends with iPhones use messaging apps.

"The lack of RCS support on iOS makes it much harder for iOS and Android users to communicate normally, forcing them to use third-party messaging platforms such as WhatsApp or Telegram."
Can someone explains me what makes it harder to communicate with Android users? The only difference I see is the green bubbles.
The green bubbles remind them that when someone likes something they get a giant text saying they liked it. And as RCWorld said - “you aren’t going to get the ladies [with green bubbles].”

Eh you dont need third party apps to communicate with android? A normal text message works just fine, sure imessage is better but you dont need any third party apps to send a text message to android from ios

This is anticompetitive. I get it, Apple is a business and has a big interest in not doing it. But it’s bad for the consumer.
Seems like it’s good for consumers of Apple. Do you want Apple to give up more of what makes Apple Apple? Competition drives innovation.

Tim's perspective makes sense. I don't see a growing movement of people advocating for Apple to spend precious development cycles on RCS. In fact, if there was a top 10 list of things to improve on iOS, RCS wouldn't come close to making that list. If you are an Android user, more likely than not, you are surrounded by more individuals that use an iPhone so just go get an iPhone. Problem solved.
