Seems to me rather than wish for something bad to happen to someone (schadenfreude) and then bad karma happening to you, why don’t you wish you can start a business and sell it for a billion dollars?

if there was a point in there somewhere, im sure you would have gotten to it

Apple doesn’t want to participate Probably because google controls rcs.
That's exactly it. RCS isn't a standard - it's a Google-controlled platform masquerading as a standard. It's not E2E encrypted so I highly doubt Apple wants to adopt something far inferrior to iMessage.

I've said it before but it's not up to Apple to accommodate non-iOS users.

android dont even have a msg equivalent of imsg across its own pixel series or android series and yet they can still talk about this on the high road. at least bother to develop free msging across ALL android first
RCS is not even secure and its also not an open standard, its owned by google so its pretty obv that google wants to monopoly this even more
all the half baked knowledge people are throwing in this thread about apple not wanting to play ball is honestly hilarious. this is the kind of people that comments and talk about tech as if they are a subject expert

No, it’s not. That’s the Pro. The regular 14 is cheaper. Still damn expensive, so no need to bend the truth.
the only way we can stop this is by stop buying them. I encourage all iphone users form not upgrading and they will learn to drop the prices. If we keep buying, they will keep increasing prices.
I agree, I just over exaggerated for comic effect. But you are absolutely right, and this is the first year for me to not upgrade to the newest iphone and I'll go Android actually.

I still view this recording as one of the worst Apple's put together. Makes this guy look like IBM, authoritative like a principal at a school when you've done wrong, and the status quo Apple was against.

omg. stop saying stupid crap like this. ITS ALREADY NOT ENCRYPTED !! At least RCS allows HD media which is the ONLY thing we are wanting.

This is on google. Apple already provide a good system for messages. It’s google that have subjected their users to utter tosh for years.
No it’s not. I use an iPhone. When I message people with an Android phone, my experience is worsened. Apple isn’t going to let Android anywhere near iMessage, so Google is instead suggesting RCS as the alternative that will improve inter platform messaging. Apple, however, would apparently prefer that I become an iPhone salesman instead of work on a solution for their own damn customers.

It doesn’t even have to be RCS, Apple could work with Google on an entirely different standard that’s up to their standard. But no, they want the experience to be bad because they want me to pressure friends and strangers to buy their phone.

Exactly right!

It also shows Apple's complete lack of confidence in their own product if they think people would so easily switch to Android.

Eventually Apple will face industry and international pressure to align with standards as is the case with Europe and USB type C. When they finally support RCS, they'll position it as an innovation like they did with passkeys. It might take some time however.

I have never owned an iPhone and have Android phones. I can send messages with no problems between my Pixel phone to another iPhone. If there are certain things you can't send between the two then Cook is right, buy an iPhone. They have every right to protect their interest.

Please read my last sentence and get back to me.

It's not up to Apple to cater to the wants of Android users. You want to be able to send/receive media from an iOS user then get an iPhone

Everyone I know uses WhatsApp, signal or telegram. There are many ways of sending media between platforms. It will only get more fragmented if Apple doesn’t come up with a good solution.

Omg this sounds like the Apple of the 90s!!! Absolutely zero file compatibility with PCs no common word processor or spreadsheet application. Honestly it’s a horse s—t approach to fostering adoption and eventually Apple will cave in to a better standard. But it needs to be enforced or supported universally by all Android devices and also endorsed by the GSM alliance. This should provide then necessary weight to get them to add it on.

Also the EU could easily step in and push them to do it.

It’s not Apple’s fault that Google messed about for years jumping from one messenger app to another and didn’t come up with anything good. Now they want Apple to bend over backwards to bail them out.
Also, who knows if RCS is gonna be the main messaging standard in the long term...with Google's track record, even if Apple did adopt RCS, you don't know if Google would've switched to a new messaging standard in the future....I can completely understand why Apple isn't adopting RCS. Google's reliability with messaging apps isn't the greatest.
