A quick google search brought this one up. Note 8 beat it.

Are we watching the same video here? Note got thrashed in the application speed test, 5:06 Note, 3:21, iPhone. IPhone particularly pulled ahead in CPU intensive tasks, plus kept me apps in RAM despite having 3Gb vs the Note's 6Gb RAM. IPhone smashed the note in single core and wasnt far behind in multi, despite geekbench being embarrassingly parallel and the Note having more cores.
So what did the "Note 8 beat it" at exactly? Antutu and a couple of single apps? A stretch, I'd say. Worse is that the 7+ is last year's iPhone, the 2 year old 6s is still competitive or better in some cases (it really shouldn't be a competition) and the new iPhones release immediately and will utterly smash everything, including the already superior iPhone 7. Oops

Where iphone 7 plus is quicker is gaming but other tasks the note 8 is faster generally more so in comparing apps
But really does one phone loading half a sec matter in real world usage? No it doesn't

What lies? In the speed tests note 8 came out on top. Those were just a few I saw recently. There are others around on YouTube but who really cares in the real world. When phones are so damn quick as it is one phone loading up faster than the other means nothing.
There is hardly anything between the two and although I expect 8 and x to be faster it won't be that much faster than the note 8. People certainly won't be buying the new iPhones on speed alone
You’re really going to have to be specific here. What speed tests do you think the Note 8 won? That 3rd video in particular it got its ass handed to it. Did you actually watch them or where you just handed them?
The 7+, a year old phone, is already faster than the Note 8 in nearly every regard. The 6+ more than holds its I own. The 8 and 10 will serve it and any response in Samsung’s next phone, if the last 5 years of SOCs are any indication, won’t be nearly enough.
In that 3rd video multitasking the iphone won but in terms of opening apps faster the note 8 was faster as it was slightly in the other two videos. There's not much between them at all in opening apps opening faster.
Why are you acting like the new iPhones opening slightly faster means much? In the real world nobody would notice the difference.
If all Apple has to boast about to opening apps faster while charging over a grand for these phones I think android are in a pretty good spot

Performance hasn't been a contest since the 5s and it won't be any time soon.
At least they have an option of a FP scanner..how long will it take for people to moan about face ID? Not long
What I will be angry about will be seeing the FP scanner being put under the screen on the S9 and note 9 while Apple still runs with only face ID
While I do think face ID will be a success for me I stand with hope apple get it under the screen as well

You must be blind. The Note 8 won all 3 of those videos opening the apps up from scratch which is where the speed really pushes the cpu and nand speed. You can't admit you are wrong. Keep digging your grave deeper.

It's a year newer, still slower in the ways that matter (actually running and switching between apps). And, again, even the 2 year old 6s outpaced in a lot of important ways. The A11 powered 8 and 10 are about to seriously embarrass Samsung.

Really? Can't actually keep 25 apps loaded? It kept all 25 apps loaded. And they are all MULTITASKING where the iPhone isn't. See video below. Give it up. You already lost this battle. Multiple people have been proving you been wrong and you won't give up. The 6s doesn't come close to the Note 8. The Note 8 beat the 7 plus. FACTS.

The year old iPhone 7+ is faster than the Note 8 in almost every way. The 2 year old is faster in some ways. The iPhone 8 and 10 will take it to school and everyone knows it.
PS Chill out. Rara-ing a slow phone based poorly on generic software that's already bad is surely not worth this
You lost it a long time ago. We all provided you the facts and proof backing it, but you continue to ignore it and say the iPhone is faster which it is clearly not. I'm done with someone that can't admit to defeat.
Even if all of what you are saying is true does it matter in real terms?
Does the note 8 suddenly become unusable because the iPhone 7 plus can open apps a half a second faster?
Is the note 8 DOA because it didn't score as high as the 7 plus on single core score?
In real terms the note 8 is plenty fast.
There's nothing wrong with the FPS on my note 8 I can reach it quite easily.
What's the point in paying £1,000 plus for a phone that's using inferior screen technology, has an ugly notch and is still behind the competition in terms of features.
My note 8 will get Oreo and android P. However by that time I will probably have moved another phone as my contract allows me to upgrade after 12 months. Hell my 6 and 6S plus only saw one iOS update because I upgraded to the next model after a year. So the fact that an iPhone can get 4 OS updates is insignificant to me.
Every year Apple releases a so-called fast processor and it seemingly beats the competition. All I ask for is that every application works fast enough and that I can keep at least 20 open fully running applications held in memory (ram). Guess what, the note 8 does this plus more than any iPhone would ever do.
You guys will be back next year with the same thing but it changes nothing. You will have the same iOS experience as the other iOS devices without barely noticing any speed increases or other uses for that processor technology. No one cares about your processor speed so even Apple didn't press the issue.
You guys already forgot about your A10 and even A9 being amazing because quite frankly, it was useless.

That's a cool video. Now let's see a video comparing the Note 8 with the 7 Plus. See which phone has better RAM management.
There was a video earlier which did just that but the guy said comparing them was pointless as the Note 8 was actually multitasking while the iPhone snapped a placeholder and paused the app, milliseconds involved, both apps picked upwhere they left off, the phones traded blows at being milliseconds faster the one another except for gaming where the iPhone was a bit faster than the Note.
It doesn't really matter though, the back and forth bragging and posturing gets boring and destroys threads.
I'm using an S7 edge, my Note turns up later in the week.
I've never felt the S7 edge was slow at anything, it's been a great phone.
What's important to anyone with a flagship phone?
My priorities are:
A reasonable battery life, all day is expected.
A full desktop browsing experience.
An easy to read screen, bigger is better.
Good camera, good video.
An SD card is a must for me, I tried without with a Note 5 and worried constantly about damaging the phone and losing content, I don't do cloud services.
Do I need a flagship? Probably not, I could probably get by with a sub 500 phone.
I used a 200 dollar M3s for a couple of weeks and didn't feel too put out.
I could probably be happy with an iPhone these days apart from the SD card and the limitations of the ecosytem but only if the battery life improves, that's one thing the iPhone is faster at for sure, chewing through battery life.
The thing is I get a new phone every year, I can get pretty much any phone I want but Samsung always seems to snag me each time.
The Note series in particular has impressed me since the Note 3. I skip the S series these days, the only reason I have the S7 edge was due to my Note being recalled.
