I feel bad for anyone that spends their money on any Google Wear devices. They are all awful.
The Gear watches aren't Android Wear devices. I'm not saying that necessarily makes them any better (I wouldn't know as I've never had an Android Wear device and haven't had a gear since the first one)

Well I was sitting patiently with my 6S to see what Apple would announce last week.

The iPhone X is just ridiculous in terms of price (and the cutout) so I wouldn't even consider that.
The iPhone 8, I just don't see this as an upgrade from my 6S, aside from the camera and a couple of spec bumps.

I've been tempted with the Samsung S8 for a while and decided to take the plunge on Friday, replaced my 6S and Apple Watch Series 2 with S8 and Gear 3 Frontier.

The S8 is just a gorgeous piece of tech, the screen is outstanding and just a pleasure to use, I like the look of the Frontier, looks more like a real watch and it can be set to always on. I've only used them for a couple of days but so far I'm happy I made the right decision.

Don't get me wrong I'm not an Apple hater, they just didn't do enough to resist the temptation from Samsung. :)

Not really. I’m dumping the 7+ for the 8+ and hope the sensors and processing are dramatically improved.

The Galaxy S8+ guts the 7+ when it comes to photos. Video is more comparable though.
The thing is, you overcooked the meal when you said that Iphone camera is "damn awefull" compared to the S8.

If you like the fantasy oversaturated colors that samsung put on their pictures, you might have a point.

Other than that, even if superior, Samsung camera doesn't blow away the iphone's one. I also find Samsung camera better, but it's not the difference you're trying to make

This is the biggest myth about Samsung devices

Even iPhones can suffer performance issues. It all depends how you use your phone and the amount you have downloaded
All phones can slow down. Just happens that Android (not only samsung) have software degradation much quicker than iOS... It's been like that forever, no need to make a myth out of it in 2017

Also just discovered there is an Apple Music app in the Google Play Store, this is useful as we have the Family subscription and so I can now still access my entire library. :)

I love the way some people get offended if you buy a Samsung, if it wasn't for the competition from Samsung, Google and other manufacturers you can bet your bottom dollar TC would be raising prices even more. Competition is a good thing.

Love the phone you choose, I'm 100% certain I will be back with iPhone at some point, maybe in a few years, who knows :)

It’s not a matter of color reproduction which can always be managed post processing. For what it’s worth the iPhone 7+ has more of a haziness to colors that looks more unnatural and stale than the S8+. It’s not a feature either.

Depth, detail and less processing artifacts all go in favor of the Samsung.

I take dozens of photos with both every week. Do you?

I take a couple photos every week with mine. The S8+ takes much clearer night photos. The oversaturated photos taken during the day on my S8+ look more pleasing to my eye, though my 7+ takes photos that are more true to life. They don't stay that way for long though as I filter and adjust them to hell and back using Instagram.

If you think that's bad, you should see how Android fans collectively lose their **** every time they see iPhone related news posted on Facebook.

The snap dragon 835 is plenty fast. It might not be as fast as the A10 chip but it handles tasks wiht ease.
People said that about the Snapdragon 800... but then years go by, OS, apps, content becomes heavier and heavier, and it starts to not pull the weight

Iphone 32gb used to be HUGE a few years ago... look now...

Those android phones will only get 2 OS updates and should be able to handle this fine.

Well the note 8 beat the 7 plus in pretty much every task speed wise so i think the latest chip is faster than at least last years IPhone.

Who knows yet on the the A11

Those iPhone phones get also 3 OS updates, wait: to what price? Lags and shutters!

The iPhone 7 has lag and shutters right now with the iOS 11 - just after a year.

Sorry but I prefer to NOT receive OS updates if that means that the systems will be not smooth because Cook wants to bring me to buy a new phone.

It is even as fast as a 6s plus let alone 7 plus.

Did tests with video editing and exporting (Premiere Clip) and raw file processing (Adobe Lightroom) and the 2 year old 6s plus much faster than snapdragon 835 (I tested with s8, but note 8 won't be any different - it just has more ram which won't help with CPU performance).

What lag and stutters? Have you actually used it? 6s plus with ios 11GM isn't any slower than ios 10 so far for me.

In my eyes, it all comes down to OS preference, performance, security, privacy, and ecosystem. Apple wins in all of these cases. Hardware is becoming very very similar, soon enough it will just be all screen rectangles. I have been given no reason to switch platforms based on what I mentioned above.

Agreed, and also you need to factor in inertia and the disruption of switching.

I love the idea that I can respond to friends, and family in imessage on my iMac, the integration that iOS and OS X is a big plus. Knowing that there's very little if any malware in the app store is also a big plus.

Yet with that said, its getting harder to justify spending the inflated prices that we're now seeing from Apple. I get the feeling that Apple is more concerned about profits then products.

i wouldn't buy a fridge from samsung let alone a phone

awful crappy junk , i had one of their tv's , developed a fault after 2 days...
Agreed. Poor quality and especially poor service all around. I had to stop buying their TVs as well after that capacitor issue they denied and subsequently were sued into acknowledging. Interestingly enough they turned right back around and still continue to use the same faulty cheap ones in their TVs. Their products are too unreliable for me to ever purchase again.

I have both an S8+ and 7+ and would give the overall edge to my 7+. The S8+'s AMOLED screen is gorgeous, but it makes videos lag. The fingerprint reader is in a horrible position and I hate how integrated into the system Bixby is. Can't even reassign the dedicated Bixby button. Touchwiz isn't as bad as it used to be, but I can imagine Android updates taking forever because of it.

Edit: the S8+ also has an amazing camera too

True you cannot remap the Bixby button. Can you remap the Siri button in the X?

Download BXActions, and you can remap the Bixby button.

It's getting up there for sure, but I think we have hit the peak for iPhone prices. As what we are seeing in the X becomes more standard across their product lines, prices will drop. I think the X is more of a one off situation, or at least I hope, and doesn't become the norm. Who knows though. For me, it's not much of a difference in cost. I pay $40 per month for my 7 Plus 256. The X 64 (I don't need or use the storage) is $41.20 per month. I can only speak for myself here, but the additions to the X is easily worth that to me.

Umm, my iOS devices lag and stutter on the latest 10 version. My iPAd pro 10.5 on 11 does stutter sometimes as well.

Amazing tech running on Samsung software.

iOS is the reason why I’m on an iPhone, not because of “spec bumps”. People forget how important iOS is, until they use Android.

I was thinking the same thing o_O

The last day I was on an LG forum was the last day I had my G4.

I have an iPhone 6 and the performance is just bad on iOS 11, so I will NOT update while I'm testing the S8 - which makes the iPhone feels like very, very old - and not just in regards to the hardware!
