Also just discovered there is an Apple Music app in the Google Play Store, this is useful as we have the Family subscription and so I can now still access my entire library. :)

Unfortunately, I've found the Apple Music app on Android to be more than a bit glitchy - weird stuff like failing to download music for offline access, bogging down and breaking up the music when I'm running and general crashes and poor performance have been my experience with it.

I've also got a family apple music subscription and thought the same as you but ended up paying £10 a month for a Google music subscription on top of the Apple Music subscription for my S8. I probably use the Google Music app more than apple music now (even on my iOS devices) as it's more stable across all my devices. There is a family subscription available on Google Music too but it's not available on my account as it's a G Suite one and I'm not sure I could convince my wife and daughter to move from Apple Music even if it was so I'm now paying for 2 subscriptions (I have tried spotify multiple times and simply don't like it)

Agreed.

Apple Music on Android is beyond bad. Use another service until Apple fixes it, if they fix it.

It’s just stating the facts. Anyone can google and see.

Very true. I'll just leave this here.

https://source.android.com/security/bulletin/2017-09-01

It goes back and describes all of the monthly security issues Android has had from 2015 through 2017. As you can see, plenty of problems. Although there is no perfect system, anyone can agree that iOS is much safer from a security perspective. Privacy, is obvious, considering Android is a system built to take and sell your data. That is Google's business, let't not be short sighted here. Lastly, performance. Benchmarks and real world usage tests show Apple's chips routinely beat out anything Android puts out. The Note 8 was even bested by the 7 Plus from a year ago. Android hardware makers can continue to through as many specs at it as they can (it's really an Android issue, not a hardware issue. I bet iOS would fly on Note 8 hardware), but as long as it runs Android, there will be performance issues. Although Google seems to be realizing this and going towards the Apple model.

The iPhone 7 does not best the Note 8 period. Stop posting rubbish. IOS isn’t much safer than Android. It’s a fact that both are pretty equal today.

I don't think you actually read these articles haha. Android users who post on Apple forums must really have some time to kill.

Gotta be in it to win it
Be that as it may the cve database shows many more critical vulnerabilities from android than iOS.

That maybe true, but the O/S’s are equally secure. Windows has a lot of hacks. Because hackers only attack the O/S that is most popular like Windows vs Mac and Android vs iOS.

Well you're talking iPhone 6, which is 3 years old now. I would hope that a 2017 flagship Android is faster than a 2014 iPhone. As far as the S8 and other 2017 Androids, they've yet to catch up to even the 6s in performance.

You're right, but the point is that everyone speak about the fact that iPhones were always updated. This is correct, but at which price? --> Lags, shutters and bugs!
At least I would receive with samsung security updates over years. I don't care if the OS is not updated because I can personalize it and I can download every apps I want. So I would not really miss special OS features which comes with the major updates.

Recent speed tests suggest the note 8 beats 7 plus in speed tests yet some think 6s is faster. Odd

Exactly why I want to know what answer the poster has for that statement. Some forget that many of us here in the alternative section of MR are more familiar with iPhones and Apple products than most Apple loyalists are.

Samsung flagships don't lag anymore

No more than any current iPhone

I've never had an iPhone that lagged. And I've had every one since 07. That's one thing android users can't debate. iOS doesn't lag. Not even eventually. I was in a store playing with the note 8 and while it's a beautiful phone the interface is not even close to being as smooth as an iPhone and iOS. Even brand new it's not totally smooth. It's very subtle but it's there. And it only gets worse with time. that's a fact. I'd put any 2 year old android device against a 3 year old iPhone and iOS would crush it every time.

Oh yes it does. I’ve had multiple iPhones lag including my last one iPhone 7 Plus. Mostly only lagged within the apps themselves and not the O/S. Android does lag within the O/S like opening the dialer up. But my Note 8 hasn’t shown any signs of lag yet and it’s super fast and smooth.

I'm sorry but they do, IOS 10 has been hit and miss lately. Just today I was typing and pressed a key and it just stayed with no access to anything and I had to press the home button to go back out

Demo units often have issues. It's why those units aren't sold. They aren't retail units more often than not
