Not if I need one now, why wait and pay 30% more.
Well did you need a new one last month? If the answer is yes, then why haven’t you upgraded last month? If you waited a month then you can wait 2 others… if the answer is no then why you need to upgrade now? The only possibilities I see is that the computer stopped to work, is broken or something like that… But for most people, I think their Mac works…

to save 30% lol you don't get it

I also got a MacBook Pro m4 and we have an air m3 15 inch at home… IT’S NOT THE SAME THING, Pro performances are better, speakers are better, screen is better and more

And by more.... the MBP is heavier, bigger to carry. some people just don't want that. One size does not fit all :) choice is good. I have both a MBP 16 M3 Max and a MBA 15 M3, and most of the time when I travel I just don't care about the extra CPU power (not doing anything that taxes it), better speakers (don't use them) and the MBA screen gets the job done. It's the one I carry. The MBP 16 mostly does desk duty. Admittedly it's better at games.

99% of people won't care, it's just a new chip you know not a re design like a iPhone, or iPad adding oled and thinner.

I must be the 1%... never occurred to me that anyone would buy a computer without caring about the processor. Really?

I've got OCD. I like my devices to be protected. More so when they're not mine, so to speak.

Fitted a lighter Spigen case though to it. The Supcase will be used when I travel to the offices in Dublin to keep it protected etc

That's a really nice case!
Going to show this to a relative who's been chewing through those plastic hardshells sold on Amazon (they crack in the corners too easily)

But therein lies the conundrum. The M4 MBP is only .1 pounds heavier. We are planning to get my wife an M4 MBA 15 when it's released, but am on the fence with the almost-equal weight base M4 MBP. We definitely want 16GB/512GB config for her. Due to the larger surface area the weight distribution is different on the MBA 15 compared to the denser M4 MBP, but isn't significant. We need to visit the Apple Store again for her to compare which laptop design she prefers.

Now compare to the MBP 16. Some people want the bigger 15 screen. I know it's only one more inch than a 14, but the 14 is too cramped for me to work on. I am not suggesting what is right for you, wouldn't have a clue, nor am I suggesting one is better than the other for everyone, just saying it's not a black and white issue as some would suggest. Some people buy on specs. Some people buy what works for them :). Sometimes it's the same thing, sometimes not.

I personally still wish the Air was a wedge to differentiate it a bit

Something about the wedge shape was just so iconic and delightful to pick up and hold and slid in/out of a case, etc

I agree. My M1 MBA still holds a special place and is my all-time favorite Macbook. While the current MBA form factor is lighter than the wedge, it's also more basic, generic, and plain.

Actually, I find the current design easier with its consistent width to pack when traveling. And I travel a LOT. My laptop isn't a fashion statement, but a tool... but if it were a fashion statement, I prefer simple, clean, and elegant to 'hey look at me I am different.'

Bruh even if the MacBook Pro is heavier, it can fit on my bag and that’s what I want… It’s not bad for your health to carry a MacBook Pro instead of an Air !!

Clearly, the multiple colors available on the current MBA line are meant to fit more different styles and make more of a fashion statement than the monochrome wedge MBA. The slanted keyboard was also more comfortable to type on than my previous retina MBP 13, MBP 16, and current M4 Pro MBP 14. I had multiple sizes of Macbooks over the years and the wedge MBA is still my favorite design without anything to do with seeking attention.

Totally agree about the slanted keyboard

The measurements about front edge height off the surface don't suggest this would be the case, but for whatever reason, it felt better on the front edge and the interaction with ones hands

I still notice this when comparing/using/helping with my Cousins family that has an M2 15" MBA and an M1 13" MBA (wedge) in their house right now.

I have both at home, MacBook Pro might be the best choice because it doesn’t have a 15 inch screen but 14 inch is perfect and you cannot compare the screen of the air against the pro who has 120 HZ, mini led and 1609 nits !!

MacBook Pro space black beats all MacBook Air colors !

This is a wrong comparison, you should compare 15" MBA vs 16" MBP and 13" MBA vs 14" MBP.

The MBA 15 display is still impressive in its own right. For non-miniLED, the image quality is still pretty fantastic compared to the competition. The MBA screen just falls short when you have it side-by-side with a MBP, but honestly in-store I couldn't tell much difference in image quality between MBA and MBP unless it was some HDR stuff.

My wife won't care about 120Hz nor nits. The MBA 15 screen is big and bright enough for her. We will see though what she ends up with in March, either M3/M4 MBA 15 or possibly M4 MBP 14. Still undecided.
