It's being turned on in different regions day by day. Yesterday it wasn't working for me and today I randomly tried it and its been working for me for the past hour. Hopefully it's permanently on.

I would have said it was west to east but if Utah isn't working then I'm lost. :)

Strange... I am in the Metro Detroit area with 3.1/5.1 and MMS is working now. I did have to reset network settings, which made me loose A LOT of wifi settings... but all is working. No visual voice mail issues.

Family share unlimited texting as well... not sure if that matters or not?

Did the same exact thing. Also on a family text plan. Going to try my girlfriends phone later on tonight.

i just did the carrier 5.1 update ..

i think mms is a GO for me...orange county, huntington beach, CA! i only sent a pic to myself..and i was able to send...and i recieved it.

EDIT: i was able to test it out by sending a pic to my buddy that doesnt have an iphone, he received it!! forgot to mention i have the family unlimited text message plan.

@nelly: are you running a mac?

if so, its under Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app. you can also find it under spotlight.

Under finder just search for terminal and it will open and then enter the text that was posted on page one.

Still can't find it. Im running a pc Windows XP.

EDIT: I found the Finder program using the search, but where would I need to look at to find the Terminal file/program? I looked in the dled att file from the link on the first page, but didn't come up with anything with terminal in it.

I have a 3GS with 3.1 firmware and 5.1 carrier file, and I can report that MMS is working in Kansas City, MO. I have been able to send and recieve. I'm on a family unlimited texting plan. I did not change any settings at all after I loaded the carrier file. I tried it late last night and it didn't work, then I got up this morning and everything is working amazingly.

This actually came to mind. I have a Laguna Beach CA number even though I live in NC. I wonder if it is by billing zip code.

For those of you with it working now, when someone sends you an MMS, are you getting the picture, or still getting the 'viewmymessage' link?

I'm getting the picture, but I've never gotten the 'viewmymessage' links ever since my job took over my account. It must be some sort of corporate account with a different messaging plan, I'm guessing.

Upstate NY WORKS!

Tethering works 100%, just paired my 3GS to my MacBook thru Bluetooth and sent to Settings > General > Network and flipped Tethering On. MacBook recognized asked me if I wanted over BlueTooth or USB, I said Bluetooth and right now (even though I have Wi-Fi) I am testing the network. So far so good.

MMS so far, is only a bag of hurt

Edit - Pic or it didn't happen

I have carrier file 5.0 and iPhone OS 3.1, and i'm able to send & receive pictures via MMS. I did, however, change my plan to unlimited text instead of the iPhone messaging plan.

My specs are:
