You might have answered this in a previous post... but why 16gb on an Air?
Im guessing you need the extra ram for some workflow that requires it or you just want to future proof your purchase?
If you've brought 16gb why not the Pro? Just curious. Im still deciding what to buy. Im leaning towards a 8gb Air or the pro mainly for the extra 2h battery (I dont do anything intensive).
I did a full review of my MBA after owning it for a week, I used it to replace a 15" 2016 MacBook Pro. You might find it useful
I thought it might be useful to summarise my thoughts after using the new M1 MacBook Air after using it for a week, and how it compares with a 15” MBP, if anyone else is thinking of upgrading. The summary is for those that don’t want to read a long post is I am really happy with the switch, the...

However to answer your specific question.
I actually bought it the Morning it was launched ( I picked it up the same morning at a local store), at the time there where no proper reviews, although a couple of people had got an early shipment. At the time it was not clear how much memory I would need. I do some light video editing and a lot of photo editing as well as the significant Microsoft Office stuff for work. That is why I originally went for the 16GB version.
At the time I could have bought the 16GB Pro or Air the Apple store had both options in stock. However Apple stores only stock 1TB M1 Laptops, originally I was going to go for 512GB. So I went for the Air partly due to budget as I already was spending more on SSD, and partly because I did not like the Touch Bar that I had on the 2016 MBP.
Having the Air I prefer the typing experience partly due to the wedge design of the Air. I was keeping an open mind if the reviews did come out and say there was a compelling reason to choose the Pro then I would have returned the Air. However I have had a great experience with the MBA and don't plan to change it.
Would I still go for 16GB, given most reviews think the 8GB is sufficient for most people? I think I would still go for the 16GB version, only because I plan to keep this for a number of years and the larger memory may give it some future proofing.
