First proper morning with the new MacBook and 😍😍😍

Using it side by side with my work 16" 2019 and its night and day... no noise, the screen is amazing and its just so responsive. the 2019 fans sound like a jumbo jet when doing any basics. The new machine doesn't even sounds like its on.

Can't wait to sort my monitor situation out so I can be finally fully kitted and settle into every day use. my ultra wide will is back at the supplier who need up to 5 working days to accept and then offer refund for the mark I had on it. In the mean time, I've ordered a 16:9 LG 4k to see how that feels (want to see if the text crispness is there with the better resolution, also if the 16:9 works as I really want to do picture by picture but might have to find an alternate option, and KVM with a single keyboard and mouse)

with that KVM in mind, I'm going to return the apple keyboard and Magic Mouse. The idea of built in Touch ID into the keyboard is great (but seems to be lots of reported issues with it working properly!) but not being able to pair it with 2 devices is a deal breaker. I know universal control would help but its unlikely to be allow on my work Mac (as you have to be signed in the same Apple ID across the two and it allows for file sharing which will never be allowed).

so off to the apple stuff and in comes the Logitech mx anywhere and mx mini keys (both allow pairing to multiple devices and easy switching)

Had a good purge of my iCloud Drive, docs, desktop etc and have a really clean up install now on this new machine. Only been doing the basics today, apple silicon supported M365 apps installed. Will start with doing the basic workflow apps next.

How long does it take to be delivered to London, UK? Will it be on time by 6th of December? It was ordered on 29th of October.

My 14" has been sat in Shanghai for a few days day, unless the DHL tracker doesn't update that often.

Which LG did you go for?
originally got the ultra wide : https://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-34wp88c-b

but that had an issue on the panel so that's gone back to the retailer. They're going to take a bit of time to process the returns etc so I decided to grab

the ergo stand on these LG models is great, they look the part, great movement and ability to rotate, great cable management, solid metal construction.. would say its a £100+ mount on its own!

the issue for me with the ultra wide was the resolution and sharpness of the text on screen.. been spoilt looking at the retina displays for ages and there's been plenty of recommendations on the forum here. was tempted by the benq pd3220... (but its probably overkill in terms of colour replication etc and is £1050!) and the Philips 279P1 (can't find stock!) or the dell U2720Q (stock issue and lots of complaints about build quality).

so the LG 4k it is for now! (one issue is that it only supports 60w PD). If I can live with the 16:9 and get some way of working with 2 laptops sorted then happy days! if not, it might be back to the original LG ultrawide or even look at the Prestige PS341 which is ultra wide 5k2k

this is become a massive headache :D

Mine identical to yours! No movement for me on same dates/model.
a few weeks ago, a whole bunch of orders shipped directly from the UK (via DPD or DHL). when that was the case, people didn't see long shipping times, just it quickly going from processing, PFS to shipped inside a day..

so it could all happen very quickly!

Tell me about it... Let us know how you get on with the LG, I might end up going with that one as well based on some of the other feedback on it on here. Will look at the BenQ too, although it's a bit more than I wanted to spend. Where did you get the LG? Amazon are out of them right now and showing Dec 14th - January for delivery (direct from them, not from Marketplace sellers).

Suspect that must be from a Marketplace seller then: they have the variant with the white back (UL32UN88A) available for delivery on 4th Dec direct from Amazon @ £599.99 but the 32UN880-B is showing either Dec 3rd @ £629.04 from CCL or Dec 14 - Jan 14 from Amazon direct @ £579.99.

Edit: if it was from CCL you can save some cash by buying it straight from them, not via Amazon.

Well for the second day in a row UPS have told me they missed me and will try again tomorrow – I've been home both days and no one has tried to deliver.

That should work and at least they can’t say they don’t know where a known drop off point is!
Exactly! Luckily it's at a shop less than five minutes away from me so I can pick it up as soon as it comes. Really annoying to have spent two days worried to go for a walk in case I miss the delivery, I'll be avoiding UPS whenever I have the chance.

They are normally pretty good but can’t beat DPD. DPD cannot even allow you to sign for the parcel outside of the hour allocated slot. They often park outside the house if running a few minutes early.

OK so Apple were bang on with their delivery estimate then. I rang Kuro Neko this morning "Oh it's being on a plane today" you'll have it tomorrow. Lo and behold it tracks at lunch time as having arrived in Tokyo.

I already have the Kuro Neko equivalent of UPS My Choice and so my delivery slot is now booked in for 2 - 4pm tomorrow.

I also with 1 minute to go ordered an Air tag for delivery tomorrow just to try it out LOL.

Separate question - I'm really debating with myself about getting an iPhone 13 Mini with it being the last of the "mini" lines. Currently have an iPhone SE 2nd gen. Apple Care+ runs out in May. I'm not a big camera person so it's more the 5g / upgraded processor etc that does it for me. Also I like Touch ID vs FaceID. So Apple care should more or less run out when the SE3 3rd gen arrives which they say will have 5g tech and probbly an upgraded CPU - what would you do ?
