I have considered cellular (my iPad mini is cellular) but for the few times I go away on holiday or for the weekend I just tether to my iPhone. And when away I don’t tend to spend long periods of time on my iPad. I mean, unless you’re away and have to work on your iPad I don’t think you’ll use it a lot? For movies you can always download to watch offline?

Total waste of money if you have an iPhone. Personal hotspot to iPad is seamless.

I hope so as I’ve gone wifi only this time. I’ve tethered my MacBook to my cellular iPad in the past (for work) and it was a bit wobbly. I wish the difference in price were less too. £50-100 max extra.

I some times like using cellular on long car journeys (as a passenger) for surfing and checking traffic but to be honest one of the main journey I like to this on is on the A1 and i typically don't get good coverage on big stretches of that route.

I feel your pain. I went for the 11" again but I'm now wondering if I should have just gone for the 13"! 🥲 The choice between the two sizes is one of the hardest things to weigh up for me out of any Apple product choice dilemmas.

The fact the poll in the forum has thousands of votes and almost exactly 50/50 split is testament to this I think.
I have a favourite rucksack I use a lot, especially when flying anywhere. It has a laptop pocket designed to take a 10” laptop and, therefore, takes my iPad Pro 11” perfectly. That’s the real reason I’ve stuck with the 11”.

Replying to a number of postings re the fact new M4 iPad is eSIM only. I have a monthly SIM only contract with EE for both iPhone and iPad, along with broadband. This gives unlimited usage for £13 a month.

According to EE you can set up an EE eSIM in your device using the My EE app. There’s certainly an option there if you go into your settings. I’m hoping that when I set up my new iPad on Wednesday by transferring from my old one that it will install the EE eSIM and initialise it. Hope springs eternal.

Please can you test if it has any other upright positions. I suspect not as the photos only show one. The Apple Smart Folio now has extra magnets to enable some different viewing angles. I suspect it will take a little while for the case manufacturers to copy this.
Other than flat these are the options. For the £13.60 I paid I'm very happy with it. I'll have a look at the apple version in store but it's a huge price jump. I'll probably keep this one for a while and then see what comes to the market.

My Magic Keyboard for the Air arrived by DPD this evening. Not a new product i know but is for me and makes Wednesday feel closer. Got the M4 keyboard coming then too along with Pro Pencil and Air and Pro - fingers crossed all in the same delivery but have had multiple iPhones delivered by different couriers on previous launch days so am not holding out much hope on that. EDIT: just realised it is a new product as its the M2 keyboard. For some reason I thought because it was available before the 15th that it was an existing keyboard and just the M4 keyboards were new. I haven't opened yet but in the box it feels a little heavy.

Yes but only keeping one. Originally ordered the Air and then decided I might prefer the Pro.

If money was no object I'd love a 13" Pro to use at home and an 11" Air (or even Mini) for out and about). But it is and with hybrid working I rarely take my iPad out of the house except when travelling.

If you know anyone who qualifies for education discount it’s only £149

I might going to get Applecare on whatever I decide to keep. I can get educational discount which, for the 11" models, is £69 Air or £129 for the Pro (both 11" models) and any accessories but depends how much I end up keeping and therefore shelling out overall so might just pay monthly (which you can't do with the educational discount). That said am likely to keep much longer than 2 years so wouldn't be covered after that. I remember getting educational Applecare on a macbook a long time back as felt like a big purchase at the time and a prudent thing to do. However (tempting fate here) am very careful with my tech and never really had any damage in the past save scratching an iPhone screen with keys in my pocket. That is when I started using screen protectors on my phones!

Never used screen protectors on iPads before as use folio cases that protect the screen but I share the concerns on replacement costs of a Pro screen. Annoying that these costs are not published yet!
