Still yet to order mine… I want to do it through a salary sacrifice scheme they have at work- fulfilled by curry’s but it’s not up yet on the portal which is very annoying.

Can’t wait to eventually get it.

Is there anyone offering any type of discount on the offical Apple Folio Case?
Really like the look it but £99 is a bit steap considering the amount of money I've alrerady spent on the new iPad.

I’ve got a question to all those who have preordered a new iPad Pro or even to those who are on the fence. With Apple using a version of the M4 Chip with a 9-core CPU on the 256GB & 512GB models of the iPad Pro, has it made you want to go up to the 1TB / 2TB model to get the full performance (10-core CPU) or has it not affected your decision?
I was a little concerned, frankly speaking… but for me the major deciding factor is OLED display.
Probably the M4 with 8 GB of RAM is more than enough for my needs…

And I also thought that with the price difference, shall 1 core and 8 GB less become noticeable in 3-4 years (I doubt since in my experience ipads will last much longer if you don’t use for intensive gaming or 3D drawing, and remember that GPU seems to be the sane) you can think about buying a new one.
You will spend more in the long run, ok, but in 3/4 years you will also gain a lot of new features that the today’s 10 cores and 16 GB ipad pro doesn’t have… but you will stick to it ‘cause you paid a lot more now. Dob’t know if this makes sense to you 😅

Long story short: if any difference can be noted, it will be in several years. Just my 2C, let’s see…

I was going to wait until I'd seen it in store but I've ordered a 11 inch pro with 256gb for store pickup on Wednesday. They have changed to delivery in 3 weeks now so I didn't want to miss out on getting one on Wednesday. I'm going away on Thursday so I'll be able to take it with me, most of my use on iPad is when I'm travelling so it'll be nice to have a new one.

I won't bother getting a pencil as I hardly use the one I've got for my current air 4. Just need to sort out what case to go for now.

Me, too… although i think I will get one classic book case. I want a slim one that doesn’t vanish Apple’s efforts to deliver us the thinnest device 😂 although I would have preferred better battery than thinnes, but anyway…

I want something that protects all the bezels, I don’t care about folio style ones, although I will purchase apple care

You will probably be able to find a way cheaper equivalent on amazon.

Like this is the one I am currently using with my iPad Pro.

Interestingly, I read the part about the 11" having a larger battery and expected that to be what cemented your decision to get the smaller one.
I have owned and used the 11" iPad Pro for 5.5 years now. I know beyond a doubt that it's what works best for me. But I also bought the 12.9" iPad Pro first, and was impressed by how the screen size simulated an A4 piece of paper so well and impressive apps still appeared in split-screen mode.

In contrast, running 2 instances of Notability side-by-side on my 11" iPad is doable but cramped.

In short, the 11" iPad wins in portability (which is important as I bring my iPad to work every day and use it in the classroom).

To use a computer game analogy, the 11" ipad is like the default starting character who is well-balanced with no obvious strengths or weaknesses. I know I will clear the game with him, but it won't make for riveting gameplay. The 13" iPad is that secondary character that does more damage while also having less defence in exchange. Using it is riskier, but also potentially more rewarding.

If I am making sense. 😛

When I used to get my iPhones on contract EE messed me about terribly with pre-orders so never again. I always buy outright from Apple now but appreciate it can be handy to spread the cost over the period of the network coverage.
Yeah EE messed up my order process for 15 pro max where didn’t get it on launch day. Think I’m past using carriers for my phone now. Sin free from now on

I spoke to HSBC and they said it was defo not them blocking the payment and that it was Apple’s side.
When I was on the phone with the Apple CS rep he said it’s a ApplePay issue, probably ApplePay limits stopping it.
He did a manual payment over the phone, First one failed by a fraud alert and I received a notification in the HSBC app if I made the payment. Once I clicked yes, got a notification all restrictions were lifted. Second try went through fine with no issue
Well after doing an online text chat two days ago where they basically couldn’t do anything but confirm it was an Apple Pay issue and told me to wait longer, and having about five notifications of declined attempts by Apple to take the payment I called them and the guy switched it over to my credit card easy, one confirmation of the fraud in the app like yourself, did it again and now the order has moved to Processing, hopefully I’ll still get it next week.

They really need to have some sort of system that sees the Apple Pay limit and not allow it to go through at all. Cheers.

Has anyone brought a cellular iPad direct from Apple and adding your own sim to it? Wondering if you need a specific sim deal as never done it this way before, only ever purchased via a provider

I've always had cellular and bunged my existing data sim in, no issues. For the first few years of iPad it was various paygo sims from the likes of 3, Vodafone, Orange etc. Last few years I've had an additional line added on my EE contract for about £6 a month, and then shared data from my phone pool.

This will be my first esim when my new iPad arrives. Not entirely happy about it, but heyho.

Got my Smart Folio case today and do like we have more viewing angles
I went with the Logitech Combo for my 13”.

I use the same case for my current 11”, feel it’s the best of both when it comes to mouse & keyboard when needed, can remove and lay flat when using the pencil.

It does add a bit of heft to the whole setup though, and the keyboard & mouse part of the case is what I’ll use the least.

Looking at the Smart Folio, those adjustable viewing angles intrigue me! Does the rear of the case have 3 different alignment magnets to create those?

Be either, having a nightmare getting a eSim on my M1. EE are pretty useless in trying to get it sorted isn’t helping.
Spoke to Tech yesterday and they said they have sorted it admin side and it will activate within 24hrs that be 8pm tonight.

Honestly there is no chance it’s going to work. My iPad doesn’t even have a data plan showing on the device but they said leave it and do nothing, It will just do it‘s stuff and work.

l’ve always gone with cheap 3rd party folio cases from Amazon. I’ve probably been through about 4 on my current 2017 iPa Air and they kept it in decent nick. Plus you get wider choice of colours.

I am not clear if I’ll need / want some kind of slip case to go over the Magic keyboard to stop that getting scratched but once I decide whether am keeping the Air or the Pro and either of the keyboards.

SIN free sounds no fun at all! 😉 But yeah I switched to buying direct and off contract several years ago. If you can do it usually cheaper in the long run. ironically one of the main reasons I did was so not to be tied into long contracts but prices are such (and the often incremental improvement) to justify upgrading every year now.

I changed to using eSIM on my iPhone 14 a couple of years back (so I could put my work sim in the physical slot as couldn’t cope with the Android they provide). I remember it being a real faff but did get it working eventually after a few hours.

I have bought a 100gb esim from O2 (via uswitch as it's much cheaper) and will just use that. I would think an esim from any provider will work fine. I've previously used my phone's sim card in a previous ipad model and had no issues, so can't visualise any issues with the esim.

How exactly do you find these eSIM deals? I’ve never done it before, is it a case of taking it out as sim only but never using the mobile number? Or is there a specific iPad/tablet eSIM that you need

I am curious about eSIM on pay as you go as don’t want a monthly rolling contract as it wont be needed all the time.

I had a nightmare with an eSIM from EE in my current iPhone 15 Pro Max. This was my first eSIM. I couldn't take or make calls. Then messages went off. They gave me a new eSIM but that didn't work either. I went to the EE shop about 4 or 5 times before in the end they gave me physical sim. Won't be using eSIM again until they know how to work them properly.

We are so far behind in eSim tech surprised we are loosing the sim slot on the iPads
