Well. I just bought an Osmo mobile from very and they used yodel. They also didn’t send my address through properly so it’s been a ball ache to make sure the package exists. They won’t give me information because my name is not connected to the tracking. Although it’s out for delivery today they can’t talk to me about it or I can’t change the in-flight options because in their systems I don’t exist.

I believe Very/Littlewoods own Yodel (or they are part of the same group) which is why they usually use them. However, every Apple product I’ve bought from them has arrived Royal Mail Special Delivery. I think they are drop-shopped directly from supplier, so the delivery agent is whomever that supplier typically uses.

I am a little nervous it may still be Yodel, though they haven’t actually messed up any deliveries to me lately. Just wish I wasn’t always at the end of their route!

Well. I live about 1 mile from the Yodel depot and it looks like today I’ll be the last.
I can’t ask them to hold it there because according to their computers I don’t exist and I can’t ask about my own delivery because of data protection. It really is a case of ‘computer says no’.

I had this same exact problem where it sat on 0%. If I recall I just left it alone for a long period and eventually it completed.

I’ve seen this mentioned but can’t say I’ve noticed any bugs myself in months of usage.

Up until yesterday mine had been sat like that since 28th July. So uninstalled and reinstalled whatsapp and it says it’s never been backed up.

This is a common issue, i've found that you need double the amount of free storage available for it to backup successfully.
I have the same problem. I've now stopped doing a backup for whatsapp and instead backup using iCloud backup to backup the whole device.

Do I go into whatsapp chat settings and change back up to never rather than Daily ?
I take it when my phones plugged in and connected to Wi-fi backing up via iCloud it backs whatsapp up ?
Last year when I changed from the X to XS any media I had sent before the day I switched phones become a white thumbnail with a ? On never to be retrieved.

Ah yes, you need 2.05 the space free in iCloud https://faq.whatsapp.com/en/iphone/20888066/
If you go to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Storage > Backups > This iPhone
Make sure WhatsApp is selected

Just spoke to EE on the line chat again and the guy said I will get my device Friday and said those with order numbers he questions why as nobody should get order numbers until it has been ready to dispatch and said will get a text on Thursday.

said it will be here on Friday for sure....said will get a text and email from DPD on Thursday

will see I guess but cant be wrong if this many are saying this.

For operators it seems The job of customer services on preorder day is to sell as many phones as possible

The job of customer services between preorders and launch day is to reassure people things will be fine and please don’t cancel. By the time launch day comes if your phone doesn’t arrive it’s already late to find one elsewhere so you probably moan and stick with a late delivery

Well there job isn’t to lie that’s for sure....as somebody who’s worked in CS lying to customers is a big no no certainly when calls are recorded as are chats.

If they don’t have concrete information they can try to be vague and reassuring without promising anything.

Anyone on here use Sky Mobile and if so, do you get Wifi calling on your iPhone?

Can’t get a definitive answer online..

iPhone XS vs iPhone 11 Pro....
I don't really care for night photography but that really is something.

That whole review has got me very excited to try out the cameras, just sound excellent.

That whole review has got me very excited to try out the cameras, just sound excellent.

I remember his review last year being doing a great job of critiquing the XS camera, putting it in some tricky situations to really test it out.

The Verge review also does a good comparison of the Smart HDR changes between last year and this year, coupled with the new hardware.

Anyone else waiting for John Lewis? Hoping they'll offer launch-day delivery to store as in previous years.

I would order from Carphone Warehouse (they're offering £50 cashback on pre-orders) but typically the only model out of every new iPhone not available for launch day delivery is the one I want (Pro 64gb silver)

Could you tell me where you found the £50 cash back offer? I ordered from CPW online on Monday but didn't see one.

Unlike previous years, my pre-order was charged on Friday, only a few hours after placing the order itself!

I get your overall point, but there’s an argument that the materials used may differ between cases and the cost may dictate that and therefore the level of protection provided may differ..or the lifespan of the case ....yes you get a base level of protection, but there are other factors..some of the ‘cheap’ cases don’t look pleasant to me.

My wife constantly buys cheap cases off Amazon and they smash to pieces when she drops the phone... obviously not silicone ones, but you get my point.

Each to their own of course!

Your HDMI point I take issue with... I’ve had no end of problems with cheap HDMI cables that don’t do 4:4:4 properly, but that’s an entirely different thread. :)
I never buy hard cases whether they cost £4 or £45. All the ones I have bought are either silicone or "soft plastic". I have rarely drop my phones but when I do cases under £10 from ebay have done a great job protecting the device.

Less money spent on overpriced extras = more money left to spend on things that make a meaningful difference e.g headphones and other luxuries.
