No idea, but I was the sixth person into the Arndale in 2013 for a straight-forward cash purchase and therefore, the first person out. I got clapped and cheered by the rest of the queue, the security guards and the Apple staff.

I’m absolutely not into that kind of thing, so I pulled up my collar and legged it.
Oooh I don't want none of that... I just want to be in, and out, as quickly as possible ...and make it home without being mugged. 👌

Mine is being delivered tomorrow by DPD. I'm now thinking that maybe I should have ordered myself a new Apple Watch too, but that can wait. Like many others have experienced, the days of waiting outside the Apple Store for hours to hopefully get one are long gone.

When you pick up from the Apple store these days, do the Apple employees still clap and high-five you as you go in the store? Or do they not bother anymore after all these years?

That always seemed a bit weird to me in the early iPhone years when I joined the queues outside Apple stores at 6am to get a phone.

I was about 10th in line for the original iPhone launch at the Brent Cross Apple store. Apple gave us coffee and donughts while we were queuing.

When they opened the store (at 6.02pm because it was only available on O2) there was a lot of clapping and cheering and one of the Apple employees was videoing it all. I'd love to see that video now... I had hair back then!!

Yup :).
Never actually played the original of this one, so looking forward to it.
I have a normal Switch, but have broke 3 joy-cons since owning it, so looking forward to a sturdier console. Will keep the 'old' Switch in its dock for TV. I'm derailing - again. Sorry!

I have a regular Switch that I got at launch. I did preorder a Switch Lite from Amazon but cancelled it a few days ago. Partly because I couldn’t justify it when I already have a Switch and partly because I don’t really like the launch colours. If they release a colour or special edition I actually like I may well change my mind.

I have however preordered LOZ: Links Awakening and the new Link Amiibo. I played the original game and loved it. I also gave the new remake a go at GamesCom last month and I can’t wait to play it.

My amazon order of the pro max is still on track for this Saturday

Did a dummy order to the checkout and it appears that’s still possible for orders as of now.

I chose 6pm, regretting it now as should have just chosen the 8am one and probably would have still got to work on time :(

I would have loved to have chosen an early morning pickup slot but unfortunately I start work at 8.15 am so there was no way. I ended up choosing a 5.30 slot and will go there straight after I finish work.

Same! I thought I’d give myself enough time to get there after work but wish I’d just gone before work instead! Lesson learned for next year.

I wish I could have gone first thing in the morning but I start work at 8.15.

Will be monitoring this thread tomorrow to see what the crowds are like at Regent Street!

Really worried I will be in a queue for ages (and with no way of doing to the toilet) because this launch looks to be busier than last year.

12:30 pickup here after cancelling the one I accidentally ‘bought’ for 8:30 pickup. Should have kept that one and just refunded / switched to iUP

I guess no likelihood they’ll let me pick up earlier (reading apple store)?

.....crowds???!:D

That’s highly optimistic........!

The last time I saw crowds were at the iPhone 4 launch!!!

I forgot this was a thing until you’ve mentioned it...starting to regret choosing 8:30 pick up now! Back in the day when there was actually hype and loads of people outside the store it would have all been good fun, but nowadays I can’t see there being any sort of queue and it will just be sort of cringey...o_O

For those on O2, you can now swap to an eSIM from today as well if you wanted when you pick up your new phones.

No sign of Vodafone joining the eSIM party though.

Just taken my screen protector off my XS Max as it’ll be off for trade in tomorrow, the one I had fitted in the apple store as soon as I picked it up on launch day last year. The phone feels so good without it! And seeing as it didn’t have a mark on it I’m so tempted to go without on the new phone.
