Well I came to the realisation that carrying the max pro around was just going to annoy me too much (not because of the size but because of the weight). I went back to the XS and it felt much more reasonable (even though I used to think that was too heavy lol)

So I’ve restored my XS and reset and packed up the max pro. Will return it to John Lewis tomorrow. Apple refund the Apple care no questions if done within 30 days.

It was a lot of money to spend on something that wasn’t perfect (for my use case with little pinkie finger support lol ) even if the screen was amazing.

Glad I didn’t get to trade the XS in now !

Probably going to skip this year now as an XS to 11 pro standard size upgrade isn’t worth it, even though there are some benefits.

Well... what a weekend. Been following this thread since the beginning, but had opted not to get the new iPhone and rebel against Apple lol even as a yearly upgrader, so ordered the Samsung Note 10+ 5g.... It arrived about 4pm on Friday and I instantly wasn't keen, Android is fine but Samsung's iteration is just awful.

But luckily I was meeting the girlfriend at the Apple Store at 5.30 as she was picking up the purple 11.

I wasn't expecting any stock but by 6pm I had the 11 Pro Max 256GB SG in my hand 😁

Till next year 👌

My other half received an email about a special student offer (my son has just started college this month) whereby for an iPhone 11 (64Gb), on EE with unlimited texts and calls and 50Gb data, it's just £46 a month (2 year contract) which I think is pretty good.

He's currently on Giffgaff (he's got an old iPhone 6) with a £20 Goodybag (Unlimited texts, calls & 40Gb data) but I guess it's easy enough to request a PAC code these days to move over to EE (the offer links to a student website where you can even input the PAC code so they sort out the porting process).

Had a look on the IUP and also iPhone Payments Programs but both would work out more expensive that the £46 a month student offer (no upfront fee for phone either).....

...although, Amazon's deals whereby its 5 x monthly payments to pay off the phone also looks equally tempting - at least the phone is actually yours as opposed to paying monthly for 24 months via a network!

Sounds just like me every couple of years when I think, maybe now I’ll switch to Android...... Yet here I am, awaiting my new iPhone.
My friends and family do love those years though, many a less scrutinising person has inherited a shiny new Android device :D Though I do always keep one or two kicking about for myself. Y’know, tinkering you just can’t, or don’t want to do with an iPhone.

Hi,

Just a little gripe and to see if anyone else has the same issue, I ordered a new iPhone 11 Pro Max on pre-order day about 30 mins after they went live. The Delivery date is showing between the 30th and the 7th.

With the delivery date showing so far out, I am a little dis-heartened that although I pre-ordered on the day it's taking rather a while for the phone to come through. Is anyone else having this problem?

Have been looking forward to receiving it, but I feel a bit frustrated now considering the apple stores in the UK received them on the day of launch!

It is just me?
Thanks

On another note , whilst I’m loving the screen on my 11 Max , I’m not too impressed with the weight.

Just typing the message above on the sofa , and my little finger that sits under the phone whilst I hold it is aching.

I’m with you here, I hold my phone this way too and the Xs Max was always slightly uncomfortable, was the reason I went with the smaller pro.

A few days in with the pro, the size is great but I do miss the larger screen. I already know the max will be too big though so it is case of picking my compromise. Already slightly tempted to put my sim back in my Note 10 (standard size) that thing hits a real sweet-spot!

It happens every year I’m afraid, the most in demand variants tend to go out of stock quick, often within seconds.
There’s always an allocation for stores and other suppliers, they have to cover as many bases as possible.

On the bright side, those out-there dates often change and arrive sooner as supply begins to catch up with demand. So there’s always a possibility you’ll end up receiving it sooner than you thought.

I’m kinda missing the Max real estate having moved back to the smaller one. I may need to look at changing 🤔

I did too when I went from 7s+ to the X, so this year there was no doubt whatsoever that I was going for the Max. Don't get me wrong, I adjusted fine to the X, but I did still miss that wee bit extra real estate, particularly in landscape.

Thanks for the reply, I had not realised they had an allocation set aside for stores etc. But like you say, it could arrive sooner than the dates I have been given. Looking forward to getting the phone for sure!

Yeah, they (and everyone else to be fair) keep a percentage of the manufactured devices to distribute amongst their own Apple Stores, and then there's all of the carriers, independent phone shops and online retailers.

There's always going to be people who like to do the whole "store experience" thing, so they don't want to disappoint everyone. I've done the launch day Apple Store "experience" a couple of times, it's not bad actually (probably depending on the store). But ours has always had a good atmosphere and sometimes free beverages and snacks.

You could of course keep an eye on the stock in your local store and if they have any before your due date, go and pick one up, then cancel your online order, I did that for my 7+ (or was it s) in Jet Black because they were like hens teeth online, but our local store got a load in three days after launch.

My wife's iPhone 11 (ordered direct from Apple on the 16th) was supposed to be delivered today by DHL. However, it's now showing as delayed until tomorrow!?

Seems many are experiencing this delay...

Picked up my new 11 pro max today. Just phoned Apple to get a refund on my AppleCare plus and they said they’d refund it from September 1st. Asked when I last used my Xs max. I said this morning but refund includes all this month. £104 refunded.

I called on Thursday or Friday can’t remember and I managed to get £110.95 back actually got this back in my account today so it’s excellent. Can’t quite fork out the £199 for the new phone yet but you get significantly longer now
