Having spent some time weighing up my choice of the white iPhone 11 over the Pro coming from an XS Max I’ve initiated a return and have just taken delivery of a Black iPhone 11 ;)

Managed to pick it up on eBay with a £100 saving making the price differential to the pro line even greater.

So, consider this my signing off post I guess. See you all next year!

Well done, let’s hope you don’t have any problems cos their customer service is non-existent!

I am FUMING!! Music Magpie are shady, underhand and after this I will NEVER deal with them again. Price of £260 locked in on the Tuesday 10th September. Item received Monday 23rd September. They didn't process it until this morning, then revise my offer to £190 as its outside of the 14 days!! They have purposely held off processing it so they can knock the price down! Absolute cretins!

If you had a price of £260 locked in on the 10th, why didn't you post it back between the 10th and 15th?

Probably wanted to wait until the last minute and use the phone until they got the new one, and locked in the price as early as possible as they knew the prices would all tumble down once the 11s were released. They gambled the system. Risky, but it looks like they should have won the bet.

.....if it was indeed a gamble then there's no such thing as ".....they should have won the bet".

It's a gamble and only has 2 outcomes - people shouldn't complain when it doesn't go their way. He gambled with the system and lost......

No, the gamble was with them being able to get the phone to the company before the 14 days were out. They appear to have done that. The company are saying it needs to get through their organisation to the right department. Maybe it's in the small print, but it'd be like betting on black in roulette only to discover that e.g. black 31 counts as a loss, somewhere in the small print.

In this particular case, it'll depend on how small the small print was, or whether poster just didn't pay close enough attention to the rules of the game in which case yes, you'd be right. The gamble was lost.

I now stick with CPW for most trade ins as by the time I factor in a box, packaging materials, special delivery etc. I haven't really saved anything. Probably overkill on the packaging but better to be sure i always think.
I agree.

The ease of getting the cash almost on the spot (albeit a lower amount than the recyclers offer) is definitely a better option for me.

Quick update on my beautiful new 11 Pro Max after using it for 4 days. It is noticeably longer on battery life, all the photo stuff is amazing and definite improvement on my XS Max and, most importantly, it hasn’t slipped off the arm of my chair even once!!! So much safer than the XS Max and I LOVE being caseless and not scared of it falling!!
I'm using a nice, thin, clear Torras case which I love, but I keep considering going caseless... 👀

I'm still patiently(ish) waiting for my 13 Sept order to arrive. The original delivery estimate was between 30 Sept - 7 Oct. That slipped to 16-22 Oct without any word from Apple (no email, I just happened to notice when I viewed my order status online a week or so ago).

I wouldn't be so bothered if it wasn't for the fact that if I cancelled and re-ordered the phone TODAY the estimated delivery for the exact same model would be well before the estimated delivery of my now-nearly-2-week-old-original-order.

I've had my iPhone 6s Plus for 4 years so this isn't the worst thing in the world, let's be honest, however I'm a little miffed that the dates don't seem to be consistent.

And before you ask, Apple Support can't help me. She even suggested I cancel and re-order. As if I'm going to risk doing that?!!? 🙄

Nah mate, it was sent (by their chosen method) by Royal Mail 48 hour delivery. Posted Friday, by my calculation 48 hours after then is Monday. By my calculation Monday is before Tuesday, when the 14 days were up.

Hardy a gamble. And why did I hold on, because I needed my new watch to arrive. Is that hard to understand? Can’t just go and drop 500 on a watch to cover me like some people can (and I could I wouldn’t be arguing over £70).

thanks for your input though, same time next year when you start with the usual drivel saying it’s a meaningless update and definitely will be sitting it out this year, to then a week later pipe up with your usual ‘Phone ordered’ comments?

For my watch (for phones as I posted before used MM) I used Plunc who paid me £321 for S4 Stainless steel. I signed up on Sept 10th and then posted to them on Saturday 21st. Was paid on Monday 23rd. Interestingly I also had an email from them on Monday (before they processed obviously) saying they would extend by 5 days.

They offer £191 at the moment, £1 more than MM offered me today which I declined. Shame

Looking at it impartially they do say 2-3 days if using RM service so you did push your luck and lose.

How long will it take for the items to get to you?
Please bear in mind that although the tracking of a parcel may show 'Delivered', this is terminology used by the third party carriers to show its final tracking point when leaving their depot to be delivered to us. We will notify you when your order physically arrives here at musicMagpie!

If your items have been collected by our FREE Courier. your order will be with us in 3-5 working days. Your courier should leave a card which contains your tracking number. Keep hold of this as it is acts as your insurance. As soon as we receive your items we will start processing them.

If you have used the FREE Send Service, you will also be given a receipt once you have dropped your parcel off at one of the many myHermes Parcel shops or DPD Drop Off shops . This also takes 3-5 working days for your order to reach us.

Items sent through Royal Mail should take 2-3 working days to arrive with us. You'll be able to track the progress of your items after you've sent them too.

Ah, you mean the 3 days (Even though it’s sent Royal Mail 48 hour) which would have landed with them on the 14th day?

And to clarify, they lost. They are the cost of two deliveries down (initial one to them and return to me). They are a watch in good condition down which they could have sold for circa £110 on.

I on the other hand can sell privately and make approx £15-£70 more than they offered me (eBay prices).

thanks for the input though

I don’t think Saturday and Sunday are classed as working (and therefore delivery) days.

Did anyone order from Very and have received their iPhone 11 pro max? I just placed an order with the 10% off new credit account offer, thinking it will be delivered by 25th, then realise it is 25th OCTOBER!

I ordered my 11 pro max from them on Friday and it was in the store Saturday.

Really?!? I can’t tell you how anoying that is. I called the general helpline today and they said 8th October at the earliest. I ordered mine 13th September - first day you could pre-order.

They’re not.

If you send on a special delivery next day on a Friday, it may well arrive on Saturday, but Monday is the guaranteed date.

Listen, I’m with you re scummy practices, I’m just trying to bring a bit of perspective.
They are.
