Not exactly the latest and greatest, but the missus fancied trying an Apple Watch so I’ve picked her up a series 3 (bit of a bargain at 199), so the excitement continues... preparing to ship!

Sorry yes, I meant Saturday was, so posted Friday, Saturday is day one, Monday is day two, when it arrived. So wasn’t really pushing my luck. That’s my point. And even if it was 2-3 as MM state, that’s still Tuesday which is when the 14 days was up.

Cheers. And are they competitive with the online buyers?

They can be, but they can also be very good or very bad depending on salesperson/branch. Some people have had really poor experience and derisory offers whilst others have done really well.

Hi all,

A friend of mine is coming over from New York and I’m very tempted to ask him to bring over a 11 Pro. Any disadvantages of using a US iPhone over Here? I’ve read everything should run just like the ones bought in the UK.

Main risk is in getting repairs. iPhones are only repairable/swappable/returnable in the country they're bought, although an exception is made for EU and some other (e.g. Switzerland) countries, which are grouped together as one.

An Apple store may make an exception but they don't have to. I'd love to buy a dual-SIM version from Hong Kong but am not willing to take the risk. It's an even higher risk than yours as the HK phone obviously has different parts.

Europe 11 Pro model : A2215
US/Canada : A2160

Thanks for your reply.

Other than repairs and warranty risks are there any other factors to think about? 4g etc will still work using a UK sim?

Handtec have shafted me. Offered £616 for an XS Max in absolute mint condition, screen protector and case used since new and they dropped me down to £560 stating chip on casing and battery needing replaced in order to recycle it. I assured them there were no chips and the battery was 99% when shipped. I basically said was it a brand new handset they were expectimg??!! Asked for photos of the so called chip and they didn’t send them and upped the offer to £580. What did I do?!

I know Americans who happily visit Europe with their phones and have no issues, but this article says otherwise:

I got £710 for my XS Max 265GB from Carphone Warehouse. I'd be be tough with them and ask them to return the phone in the condition you sent it. Tell them you photographed it with the date on a newspaper and it did not have any chip on it. Tell them you'll report the issue if they do not do this. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I don‘t think they are when it comes to guaranteed delivery days.

Also, what do MM class as working days?
No idea mate. I’ve declined it anyway - will just sell it online and never do business with them again. Not the first time they’ve stitched me up, so should have learnt after the first time really.

Nah mate, it was sent (by their chosen method) by Royal Mail 48 hour delivery. Posted Friday, by my calculation 48 hours after then is Monday. By my calculation Monday is before Tuesday, when the 14 days were up.

Hardy a gamble. And why did I hold on, because I needed my new watch to arrive. Is that hard to understand? Can’t just go and drop 500 on a watch to cover me like some people can (and I could I wouldn’t be arguing over £70).

thanks for your input though, same time next year when you start with the usual drivel saying it’s a meaningless update and definitely will be sitting it out this year, to then a week later pipe up with your usual ‘Phone ordered’ comments?

You really should get your facts straight before trying to make yourself look like a Moderator. This is the first year I have not upgraded (and won't be either), but hey, whatever you say......😂

Ah, you mean the 3 days (Even though it’s sent Royal Mail 48 hour) which would have landed with them on the 14th day?

And to clarify, they lost. They are the cost of two deliveries down (initial one to them and return to me). They are a watch in good condition down which they could have sold for circa £110 on.

I on the other hand can sell privately and make approx £15-£70 more than they offered me (eBay prices).

thanks for the input though

....damn - you REALLY can't take criticism can you.

😂

That's not correct. I have an iPhone X purchased in America which was warranty replaced in the UK. 4G works on all networks and no questions or caveats when taking it to the Apple store.

I did say they may make an exception.

True, my European iPhone X broke while I was in the USA and the local Apple Store replaced it no questions asked. Didn't even have the receipt.

Just had a quick look at the MM website, their working days are listed as Monday to Friday.

For example:

We’ll email you as soon as the items arrive at our warehouse. If your items reach us before 2pm* they will be processed the same day. If your items reach us after 2pm* they will be processed the following working day. We’ll keep you up to date throughout, so keep an eye on your emails!

*Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

But in this instance it’s irrelevant as they were received Monday, if they were delivered Saturday and that was the 14th day then I would agree

In future - don't try and play the system - you had 14 days to send it in - its no ones fault but yours if you didn't send it in in time......

But I did send it in time, and it was DELIVERED in time - it arrived Monday, thus the weekend is irrelevant - do you actually read the posts?

And play the system 😂 you mean by locking a price and sending it towards the end of the 14 day period, like 90% of people do just before the keynote? Showing yourself up here
