.....I'm STILL skipping this year's iPhones if all the rumoured pictures are correct - they offer nothing more than an upgraded camera over my current XS.

I'm holding out for next year's 5G iPhones.....

...I'm joining in the pre-order fun but not buying this year - I'm holding off! :)

...well I have one 'in the bag' so I have a week to decide if I want it or not!!!!
:p

In that case, if I’m not saving anything (monthly) by cancelling AppleCare, I may as well reserve an iPhone 11 (non Pro) which would cut my monthly payments to around £30 (with no AppleCare) as opposed to my current payments of £54 on my XS.

:)

Ok, just cancelled my Pro reservation and now reserved the iPhone 11.

Bromley Store earliest collection is now showing as 11-11:30am.

What are the chances of me picking up my handset if I turn up at 8am (Bromley Store opens at 8am) given the fact that last year, there were ZERO queues at this store?

I think I may just chance it and turn up at 8am as need to get to work afterwards so can’t do the later slot!

Might see you in the queue then!

Right, time for bed......night all!

....you know what, I’m DONE!

I’m not prepared to swap my XS for the far inferior iPhone 11 (build-wise, material wise, spec wise AND screen wise) and upgrading to the 11 Pro just adds an additional £4 a month to my monthly payments on IUP - something else I’m not prepared to do..... Additionally, switching to iPhone Payments will make it that little bit more difficult for me to upgrade this time next year (not sure I’d be willing to sell privately as don’t actually have a spare phone I could use in the interim).

I’m sticking to my initial plan and holding off this year - just cancelled my iPhone 11 reservation.

And, NO, I’m not changing my mind!!

I AM. DONE for this year!
:)
@Dino F - I rest my case ;)

Apple customer services is usually great. Tried to take a case back today but unable to do it as a second item on the same order hadn't shipped yet, so they couldn't do anything.
Had to cancel the 2nd item then they would accept it. Bit pointless!

Main risk is in getting repairs. iPhones are only repairable/swappable/returnable in the country they're bought, although an exception is made for EU and some other (e.g. Switzerland) countries, which are grouped together as one.

An Apple store may make an exception but they don't have to. I'd love to buy a dual-SIM version from Hong Kong but am not willing to take the risk. It's an even higher risk than yours as the HK phone obviously has different parts.

Europe 11 Pro model : A2215
US/Canada : A2160
I’ve had a USA purchased iPad replaced in my local Apple store.

.....you CLEARLY have too much time on your hands. Oh dear.
I knew that would be your response - I probably do, you are right.

You CLEARLY have problems with decision making. Or is it just for effect? To act up to the audience?

I know this is off topic but I had no replies on the other forum. Thanks in advance for any help!
My daughter has just gone to London to Uni and the Three signal is awful! .. she is in the Waterloo/Somerset House area. She needs at least 10GB a month and as cheap as possible but it has to work!!
Thank you SO much :)

Cheap, fast, reliable.

Pick the 2 you’d like. 😀

Best thing to do is get free SIM cards from EE, Vodafone etc and test in the location.

Actually fast isn’t vital but reliable is as she’s looking at maps to get back home late night and cheap would be nice. She’s been on £10 a month 8gb

In London I'd go for Vodafone or EE. The problem with testing with PAYG Sims is you don't get access to all the features and bands that a contract sim does.

Most networks do student discounts too.

Agree that there were pants in central London for me. Don’t have the same issues on EE.

Outside the centre there were fine, just too much congestion in town.

Whats the feedback regarding the new matte glass back?

Few reviews said how nice it is, but then some have said its not as grippy as the glass back from previous models, and more likely to drop the new phone?

It’s not grippy at all! When I run my finger over the back, it’s slippery on the frosted bit but then it’s harder to run my finger over the Apple logo which is gloss. If that makes sense.

Those that got the 11 Pro on contract what prices are you paying?

I’ve got the 256GB version ordered at £71 a month with EE, Free BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video and then 6 months Apple Music

My Pro Max is SO much more grippy than my XSMax was. I sit in an armchair that doesn’t look as though the arms slope but time after time my XSMax would slip off it and onto the floor .. the ProMax hasn’t slipped once this week. It’s also less slippery to hold and use, I’m not concerned about dropping it at all. (I’ll probably drop it now lol)

.....in the City of London, I find EE is rather congested during peak travel times (8am - 9am and also 4:30pm - 5:30pm) and especially at train stations where there are hundreds of people all vying for a piece of the network! This was also the case with O2 hence why I moved to EE several years ago. Initially, EE didn't have these issues - their network was super fast (a full 5 bars of 4G at train stations!) but over the past few years, I have found the network to get slower and slower. Probably due to hundreds of people signing up with EE - blimmin typical!!!!

O2 just paid me £490 for my XS 64GB. But they also priced matched with Mazuma and increased it to £555. I suppose that means they will send me the difference separately.

...WOW - what an amazing amount!

If you don’t mind submitting a cash back claim every couple of months, this O2 deals works out to effectively be £9.50 per month for 15GB. You pay £23 initially, but the difference is refunded by cheque when you submit your bill online.

It sounds like a faff, but honestly doesn’t take that long. I do it as part of a Vodafone deal which works out eventually to about £13 a month for 20GB. Never had problem getting the cash back.

Alternatively there is this 20GB Vodafone one for £11.75, or £20 before cash back.

I can’t speak for Waterloo specifically as usually was in Paddington/Westminster, but in central London I found that Vodafone > O2 > Three. I haven’t ever been on EE so can’t compare it to that as they have rubbish signal where I live.

Did anyone order from Very and have received their iPhone 11 pro max? I just placed an order with the 10% off new credit account offer, thinking it will be delivered by 25th, then realise it is 25th OCTOBER!
They did the same with my watch so I cancelled

I'm sure its been posted but I've done a quick search and can't find - does anyone know the process for getting the AppleCare refund on my old iPhone XS that was on the IUP? Received my payment from MusicMagpie today (went very smoothly, gave me the full amount I expected), so ready to pay off the Barclays loan and get my refund through

I use O2 in and around London and think they are really good. They have some good sim-only offers at the moment too.
I just changed mine to Unlimited Mins and texts, and 50GB data for £20 a month (with a loyalty discount applied). For me, that's unlimited data! lol

...not sure of the phone process but if you download the Apple Support app from the App Store, you can type in 'AppleCare' and it shows up options for cancelling it. It will probably connect you to an Apple Support Guru who would probably do this for you.

THANK YOU so much those who replied about central London phone providers! Really appreciate the input! Her contract finishes end of Oct so will jump ship then. Seriously thank you, didn’t have a clue who to ask as, of course, all the companies themselves insist they’re great! :)
