Pre-ordered with EE. Absolute nightmare throughout the UK it seems.

This past week I've been checking relative prices on XS Max's to see what I can expect to pay and Vodafone have come out significantly cheaper, turns out this wasn't the case, EE have decided to get it together and make their prices vaguely more reasonable so I've upgraded with them. Now a 6 year "happy" customer...

Can't say it's been fun though. Vodafone and EE both had huge website crashes despite me being online at 13:00:10, I mean the EE website is terrible on a good day but this was something next level... it took me 25 minutes to get a phone in the basket, thinking that was the hard bit done it then wouldn't actually let me in my basket!

Gave up, backed down, rang them, on hold for 10 minutes and I'm told that it's because it's iPhone pre-order day (as if I didn't know), but my 6S order was done after 5 minutes without problem and my 8 Plus was even easier than that. So anyway, after 30 minutes battling on the phone about why I don't want to pay £100 a month for unlimited data, why I don't need them to sell me a Watch again since they screwed up my order last year and why a small scratch doesn't devalue a phone by £300 I've finally managed to complete my order.

First she told me that the phone will be released on the 30th, after correcting her I've been assured that it will definitely arrive on the 20th, just like my Watch last year that they waited until launch day to tell me had a 4 week delay. So let's see...

iPhone 11 Pro Max, 256GB Space Grey. Order completed at 14:05. Arriving 20/9(?)

Currys are doing 2 years interest free and use corporate discount as well 6.5 % and also 10% complete savings should work as well
How sure is Corporate Savings?

Did you pay say £1150 in gift cards getting a 6.5% thru an employee portal?

Try a physical store. I walked into my local curry's at 1430 and ordered an 11 Pro Max. I was the first person and got a better deal than offered online.

Physical stores have dedicated allocation so pop in to one after work.
what deal did you get?

Seems most people who ordered through Apple, either outright or iUP, have had an easy time, but most people trying to upgrade through networks have had a terrible time.
I can definitely vouch for both Three and EE having awful websites so not entirely surprised.

The ordering process with EE was fine but still no e-mail confirmation is annoying. Took the upfront cost though.

I have a question about the trade in.

I've ordered my new Pro Max and estimated delivery is as late as 7 October. I'm trading in my iPhone 6s Plus. In the confirmation email it says I have 14 days after receipt of the trade in box to send my current phone back. This may be a stupid question, but what happens if my trade in packaging arrives in a few days and the 14 days will be up before my new phone arrives?! I don't want to be without a phone!

I had a seamless upgrade with Vodafone. I called as I just find it easier talking to somebody. I had the iPhone X so have upgrade to iPhone 11 Pro Max 64gb in Midnight Green. 20GB data, unlimited minutes and texts. With my NHS discount comes out at £62 a month. It’s exactly the same as what I’ve been paying for the X except I have 60gb data on my X but never go ever 20GB anyway. Says it will arrive on launch day next Friday.

Three pre-order day upgrade - 1st October delivery

OK, Three are indeed a nightmare, and the other networks aren’t much better.

I upgraded to an iPhone 11 Pro 256GB Gold over livechat and was told at the eleventh hour delivery would be 1st October. My advisor even informed me that I was the first customer to upgrade today, so it seems ludicrous that their first upgrade wouldn’t get launch day delivery.
I checked their site when normal orders finally went live, which wasn’t long ago. Lo and behold delivery of my chosen model is available 20th September.

Exact same story here, they lost a customer. Already switched sides for a 12 month sim only with EE and just bought the phone

That’s the risk you take. Find a temporary phone to cover the gap or you lock in a trade in price which has would be closer to the date you get your phone. The problem will be the prices are likely to come down in trade in value.

Ordered mine through curry’s website at 13:10, the website wouldn’t process the order at first but then went through no problems. 11 Pro 256GB Midnight Green. Delivery on release date, although email confirmation says Thursday 19th, which I doubt will actually happen.

My payment through Apple Pay got rejected?!?! Apparently i went over the limit... It wasn't the bank that blocked it...

And now I cant access my orders :D

I remember having Apple Pay issues when I got my X, tons of people got declined after the fact and had to ring up. So I used my saved card details instead.

Select your phone and the pane on the right gives 0% 24 months examples. Maybe Apple are moving to align with the US where it is 24 months 0%?

...wow - £29.99 a month is quite reasonable.

I may take in my XS (currently paying £54 a month with AppleCare) and opt for iPhone Payments for the iPhone 11 (non pro version) in order to cut my monthly payouts to £29.99.

Yikes!

Perhaps I need to find some other way to get rid of it? Presumably if I don't send my device using the packaging from Apple then there's no come back on me? After all, they don't give out money until you send them your device? Perhaps I'm wrong and it'll send them into meltdown?!

I just asked Mr Google for help and found FoneWizard. I've never heard off them, but they show £115 for my device, which is £35 more than Apple.

I realise that there's plenty of scope for them to say that there's a spec of dust on the screen so they're only going to give me 15p for it, but if anyone has any tips/advice for how to sell/trade in a device to somewhere reasonably safe I'd be delighted to hear it!!

There’s a few mentions, typically hidden in the t&c’s, about 0% over 24 months but there’s no really mention of it on any of the published literature on the website. One to ask in store if anyone is there

...what do you mean exactly? Yes you can - you can pre-order now and when you pick up your handset, you can choose either to join the IUP (which is monthly payments) or choose the iPhone Payments option (which again, is monthly payments) unless I have misunderstood you?

You can if you reserve to pick up in an Apple Store just not online.

Well this is frustrating. I went into the store today to ask and they said it wasn't possible, that the payment plan had to be chosen in store, but you couldn't preorder in store and only online. Now when I look online there's no store pick up option.

For those on EE what swappable benefits have you got?

I’m thinking BT Sport and Video Data Pass - but then having 100GB data would I need the Video Data Pass?

Off to the States soon so I'm using the add-on that lets me use my allowances as if I were here. Mainly the reason why I went for the Sim Only Smart Plan. Worked out cheaper to pay more each month that go down the route of £20 a month for 100gb but no swappables and paying for the data I use when there (Own a business so will need to be available).

I've never had a good enough reason to leave EE but their app and website are awful. Nothing loads, data is always missing, can't manage anything on my account through it and it's buggy as hell just to browse.

That said, I've always gone into the store to pre-order. Customer service has always been helpful, it's always been easy and I've received the phone on day one every time.

There are plenty of different trade in options from online to store like GAME or CEX.

Look at: https://www.compareandrecycle.co.uk which gives you a comparison of the main online players.

I think you said you’re on an older device? The difference in price change in trading now to say in a few weeks might not as be as significant and still be better than apple give you.

You could also try and pick up a phone in store (assuming you’re buying direct from apple) and do a trade in then.

So is there anyone here who won’t be checking their bank account and order tracking page constantly over the next week?

My 11 is ordered and due for delivery next Friday but I won’t be constantly checking the status. It’ll probably turn up next Friday as planned, or it won’t - at which point I’ll chase.

Don’t get me wrong, I use to be as obsessed as anybody but I’m just that bothered anymore.

Back in 2008 when the iPhone 3G launched, Carphone Warehouse phones were delivered but the sims weren’t activated for a few days. I was actually in a couple of newspapers complaining about that debacle. :)
