I was on the iUP. I had about £480 left.

Sold my iPhone to Plunc for £585. Got a refund back on my appplecare for about £90. (These figures aren’t exact, haven’t got them to hand)

Made about £195 by not using the iUP! I couldn’t believe it!

Fair enough it’s a bit inconvenient. I did the 24 month finance through the app this time and I got a 9th November delivery date (couldn’t get on the store until 13:05) and I’m having to use a battered old iPhone 8 until my new one arrives but for the sake of nearly £200 I think it’s worth it.

It is easier just swapping in store on the iUP but £200 is a lot of money to miss out on. I also wanted to avoid the stores if I could. Especially as there are mentions of lockdowns etc!
do you ring Barclays and pay off the rest of the Loan, then ring Apple and ask to credit AppleCare back?

They're definitely a step up

EDIT this is my 6500th post, and I'm finally a 604 member!

If I can get that sort of speed at work I'd be happy. My current broadband here at work is poor:
IMG_2586.jpg

Those 4G speeds are faster than my broadband..!

What is a 604 member? I always wondered what the numbers mean?

😀

Three are the Iceland of mobile networks.
EE are the Waitrose.
😂😂😂
To be fair I’d never go back to EE as I’ve had loads of issues with them in the past and Ive already got one mobile and home broadband with three hence why it made more sense to check out their deals..

EE have always been overpriced for what they are though.

Three aren't that bad, certainly not where I am in the country.

5G at no extra charge, even on an old Unlimited deal for £11 per month. Plus when I'm anywhere in Europe or in the USA I can use my data etc as I would back home, no daily charge and no low allowance cap like some others. For me, they've been great.
Smarty mobile is another option, and that uses the Three network who do good deals as do iD from Carphone Warehouse.

To be fair to Three, I’ve never had any coverage issues with them and have been with them for probably near on 10 years with unlimited data etc. No issues.
The only reason I’ve switched is because the EE plan has Apple Music as a smart benefit and they have 5G in my area (Three did not).

I'll give them that, I am usually always connected to Wifi, but with 5G being faster than my home internet (I'm with Virgin), how can I say no?

Wow, that's like the speed I get in the basement :/

Here's how user titles work

This area is the land the broadband companies forgot. It's the only major downside to being here.

Three are by far the best network I’ve been on, was with them for 3 years or so until May this year. Only left as I needed a country they didn’t cover for roaming. Now with o2 and they are terrible compared. Will be going back to three in May when my sim only contract is up.
There are no good or bad networks, it purely depends on the signal in your area for each network which depends who is best for you.

I haven't been with Three in a few years, however when I was, I tried using their "Feel at Home" roaming in the USA. They were massively throttling their speeds. If you did a speed test, it showed usual speeds (20/30/40MBps) although in reality, you couldn't even load a video etc as they throttled data.

Three roaming in the USA was fine for loading a simple webpage, but try doing most things that you would at home, you'd hit a brick wall.

Albeit this was a few years ago, maybe Three are no longer throttling abroad.

I think app passwords are also backed up with iCloud as I dont remember ever losing them when changing/restoring devices and ive used iCloud backups for about the last 3 phone swaps over the years and the only apps i have issues with are the same ones that forget their passwords normally
Doesn’t the Data transfer include passwords?

Yeah me either.
EE are awful.
They have a massive call centre just outside of Newcastle here. You can’t get a signal in the village across the road from it.
Anytime I went anywhere I couldn’t get a signal.
I went to London for the Olympics in 2012. My friend got a signal on 02 all the way there when we were on the train. I couldn’t get a signal anywhere until I got to London.
If you live in London, EE is good. Live in the North, it’s useless, even if you get a signal it often doesn’t penetrate buildings.

This sounds about right. I live in Zone 5 (London) - EE speeds are crazy fast. Vodafone are pretty decent here also. Three are dreadful.

I’ve been on Three since the days of the One Plan when I got my first iPhone (iPhone 4). I have had no issues with them at all except the bummer of when they kicked everyone off the £15 a month One Plan because people were trying to see what the max data allowance was on Unlimited.

As for throttling in the USA, I was in New York and Vegas back in April 2019 and had absolutely no issue roaming abroad on Feel At Home (or whatever it’s called these days). Also roamed all over Europe and the only place I actually had signal trouble was in Iceland.

Not sure if anyone has picked up on this but MagSafe is a slightly ingenious way for Apple to remove the charging port altogether.

One of the biggest negatives of wireless charging is how you can't really use the phone whilst it's charging, it's why I've never bothered with it. MagSafe means the cable sticks to the phone so presumably it will work with the phone handheld.

Coming from an iPhone 7, is there any benefits of using an esim? I’m not planning to use my phone with dual sim(maybe I would, not sure what the benefits are).

What’s the benefit of using the MagSafe charger? This will be my first phone which has wireless charging but I hate the idea that phones charge slow with them. I currently have a 12W Apple plug and wire. Is it worth getting the MagSafe?
