Really interesting potential leaks about next weeks Apple event, full details here:

With the cameras, the ability to shoot in Dolby Vision video sounds cool.
Deep Fusion and night scene modes have become better, Smart HDR also has upgrade, namely Smart HDR 3. That will be good to see in practice / real world situations.

Most notably, there are actual camera differences between the Pro models:

Key point: The biggest difference between 12 Pro Max and 12 Pro is that 12 Pro Max also has a larger sensor (47% larger sensor with 1.7μm pixels). Expansive is added before the description of the 12 Pro Max ultra-wide angle.

So, if that is true, looks like the 12 Pro Max will be receiving a better camera than the 12 Pro this year. Given they are both Pro's, I reckon both should have equal cameras.

What does concern me is no talk of a 120hz screen refresh rate on the Pro's.

Talk of an Apple Qi charger for iPhones will be interesting to see. Naming it Magsafe Duo Charger or similar.

November release dates look confirmed for the 12 Mini and 12 Pro Max:

The pre-sale/pre-order date of the iPhone 12 Mini (5.4 inches) is scheduled for November 6 and it will be released on November 13

The pre-sale/pre-order date of the iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches) is scheduled for November 13 and will be released on November 20

For the lucky ones buying the 12 and 12 Pro versions, you can get busy with pre-orders next Friday! Inevitably, I suspect iPhone demand will outstrip supply this year.
That leak was Thurs eve / Fri am - UK. There’s discussion on it in this thread.

Thanks, it would be Wednesday I post the phone off after watching the event Tuesday night, so ideally would want the money in my account as close to Friday (pre order day) as possible so Monday/Tuesday would be ideal.

Although from what I remember I don't think Apple take the payment as soon as you order the phone through them anyway, if anyone can correct me if i'm wrong?
I’d personally send it Special Delivery - insured, fully tracked and next day delivery.

looking at the music magpie site, it says that when you send it off to them it is insured, no mention of special delivery but as long as its insured that should be fine

Looks like you just package the phone in your own packaging and then get the PostOffice to scan the QR code they have emailed me

Hi all not sure if this has been asked in previous comments, my local apple store is in Cardiff and it is out of my local lockdown area so how would I go about upgrading my iPhone 11 Pro to the new 12 as I am on the iPhone upgrade program? Thanks

Yeah I’d be concerned it’s the appropriate level of insurance, it would be if you pay for it on Special Delivery. I think it would depend what I was sending to them. I sent a 7 Plus to them last year, using their 48 method, but it was only worth £200 or so. If I was sending my 11 Pro at 3 x the value I think I’d be happier sending Special Delivery. I always use SD if I’m sending anything of any significant value.

I have a bit of a n00b question here but I'm coming from a 6S so don't hate.....

If the cable is Lightning to USB-C can I use my MacBook plug to charge my phone, or is the plug too powerful?

I hate all this "We won't include the power brick because everyone has one" but like... I don't. (Unless I get USB-C to USB-A adaptor which I probably will anyway)

Or am I just thinking about this all wrong and the lightning cable isn't actually USB-C...?

I thought you have to send it using the Royal Mail delivery QR code they send you? I think it’s 48hr delivery... I didn’t know you could send it using a different service.
Don’t think so ? Assuming you include their reference somewhere on / in the packaging. I might be wrong but as long as it gets there and they can pick up the reference ?

So with the rumours of 12 pro and 12 out first will this make you get these or will you be waiting for the model you really want?

not happy if theres no 120hz for the pro max model that was the most important upgrade for me.

While a different design better camera and 5g is good news i don't think its enough for me to upgrade my xs max i don't take many photos and am happy with the design of my iphone i do hope he's just forgotten to include that detail in his leak but i think apple believes that the inclusion of 5g will pull in most upgraders and so doesn't need to make other major upgrades.

I'm with you on the lack of 120hz for the Pro Max. Actually thought Apple would get it sorted in time, especially with a late November release. Disappointing but maybe we can hope it's in there as an option.

Likelihood is now the 2021 iPhones will have 120hz which makes 60hz refresh rate sketchy in 2020 from a tech enthusiast view. Majority of consumers won't know or won't care about the refresh rate though.

Existing 11 Pro/Pro Max owners might not upgrade despite the new chassis design, unless they really want/need 5G, into new camera photo/video features or on the annual upgrade scheme.

I'll be directly comparing the Pro Max to my Pixel 5 which arrives next week and then to make a decision whether paying double the £ is worth it to switch. Got some time to figure it out!

i agree with the above i'm hoping the november release does mean that perhaps were looking at 120mz being included for most people it won't really be an issue but once you've used a phone with 120hz its difficult to go back to one without. The camera quality has never been a major pulling factor for me i can understand why it is for others though i've seen the previous pixel phones in action and the cameras do seem great.

My only other gripe would be purchasing a 60hz phone in november and then 10 months later a 120mz is out as i do think this won't be a permanent delay with the release date and next year all of the phones will be released in sep/oct

Going to order a 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max, not sure which yet. I currently have an 11 Pro Max and it is close to being too big.

Was pumped for the Pro Max but with all these leaks, I'm seriously considering extending the life of my XS Max 1 more year!

Never had a phone for 3 years!

I used to love upgrading every year, but since the XS Max I'm really not bothered about "keeping up with the latest and greatest"

WHO AM I!
Says more about how well IOS works than anything else I would say

Three are great in certain parts of the country but where I live they are patchy and a bit worse than O2. My in laws had sim only deals with Three and the amount of dropped calls and straight to answerphones we got was quite bad. My step mother is with them though in the South East and swears by them.
Just renewed with EE as their 5G coverage seems to be better than the other networks in my neck of the woods. Also got Apple Music thrown in. Which was nice.

Agreed, the only reason I try to upgrade is so that I can get a good resell value and then am able to purchase the newest model without paying the 'full' amount, otherwise id keep the phone I have now for 3 years but then would have to fork out the full £1000 or so for the latest when I decide to upgrade, as id get next to nothing for my (then) 3 year old phone... if this makes sense.

On the other hand I look at it as something you have an interest in (tech) so don't mind paying. If I do trade my phone in and get say the £570 (current music magpie quote) for it, a new iPhone 12 pro will cost me around £430.
People spend £10 on cigarettes every other day so the £430 once a year is pretty much the same...in my head

If it wasn't for the above id still have my iPhone X, my current 11 pro is literally no different other than the camera and to be honest, the 12 pro is still going to be no different other than the camera and speed. People can get as technical as they want..it has absolutely no other features than the camera and the chip.

.....but ill still probably be online next Friday pre ordering.

I'm also wondering if as much as I like the sound of a new iPhone, do I need it?

My XS Max has loads of life left in it. None of the networks have 5G at home or work and I don't regularly travel to anywhere that does.

I don't need the better camera, I'm a full time professional photographer, my cameras far outperform anything Apple will put in a phone.

My contract with O2 costs me £15 a month and I quite like the low monthly cost.

But on thy other hand I'm a tech geek and I love new tech. Hmm...

I was kind of set on ordering but but torn now. Not sure wether to keep the Xr for another year and buy the iPad Air 4, which looks like a genuine upgrade from the air 3 I have.

Zero 5G coverage in my area of London so 5G isn’t a seller for me, these phones need to have something good.

UK networks are a disgrace regarding coverage in this country but if the EE announcement next week is about 5G being everywhere I’d have to swap over to then from O2.

Apologies in case this has been discussed before. Did anyone have concern on news about UK being on 700MHz 5G spectrum?

EE announcement? Are they doing a press conference too?

I’m really not bothered about 5G and don’t want aerials every 300 metres throughout my town. I’ve signed a local petition to stop them being installed but know that’ll make no difference. It took year to get 4G and even that is patchy but I’m more than happy with an improvement to that. Hopefully a move to EE will improve my service.
