Persoally, I think they will mention it, if only to announce the date of the online introduction event. I mean, they do not have to say when it will be released.
@Jinjin Is there any difference when it comes to actually getting the new phone depending on which route you take? i.e. is it any quicker/easier etc if you're handing the phone back to Apple and therefore just 'upgrading', whereas presumably if you do what you do you're essentially repaying and ending one deal, and then starting a brand new iUP deal? Or is it the same process in terms of getting the new phone whichever you do?
I am tempted by the standard iPhone 12 6.1" this year. It's cheaper than the pro, will still have the nice redesign too.
The camera's are always excellent and can't imagine it'll be a step back from the 11 Pro camera system. Not bothered by LiDAR.
Once I sell my 11 Pro, I'm estimating it'll cost me about £100-£200 on top for the 12, or £400-£500 on top for the 12 Pro. Not sure the extra 300 odd quid will be worth it for me.
I’m thinking the same, if there is no promotion and lidar is just more AR gimmicks, the screens are the same and thickness then I’ll go for the 12 plus instead as well.
don’t care about telephoto or stainless steel either
I do have a feeling Apple will put a 1080p display on the normal 12 models and not 1444p found on the pro’s unfortunately though.
The screen will be plenty good enough at 1080p anyway. I think people get a little bit too sucked in to the need for these things when the actual benefits are minimal in the extreme. The iPhone 12 Max/Plus will be an excellent handset no doubt and unless you are studying these screens side by side, the difference will never be an issue.I’m thinking the same, if there is no promotion and lidar is just more AR gimmicks, the screens are the same and thickness then I’ll go for the 12 plus instead as well.

...that model will be absolutely HUGE!!!!! I want my phones to fit in my pockets so definitely won't be going for that size!

I have the XS Max and so look forward to the 12 pro max, as it won't be that much bigger.I have the dummy unit and it don’t appear to be too big compared to my XS Max. You will notice the difference but it’s not drastically too big.

Plus the Qualcomm modem will be better then the Intel one currently.
The Qualcomm modem is the main reason I wanted to upgrade. With the intel modem and switching carriers from T-Mobile to Verizon my XS Max is working perfectly now. I haven’t had dropped calls, service outages nor spotty service in the 3 weeks that I switched. Verizon definitely make the intel modem useable more than T-Mobile.
I wasn’t talking about the Pro just to clear that up btw. I like big phones now but totally get those who don’t. I know more people who hate larger phones than those that don’t in all honesty. I think the 5.4” iPhone will be the winner this year due firstly to its size which is looking popular and secondly because it’ll be a more stomach-able price....that model will be absolutely HUGE!!!!! I want my phones to fit in my pockets so definitely won't be going for that size!

I can't think of another company who's customers get excited about the 'date of the announcement' of the 'date of the announcement' of their new products, and then further excitement leading up to the date of launch. You have to give them credit for that.
The only other I could possibly think of is Sony and Microsoft with the gaming consoles but we're all mental I agree.
Something may be moving. Would be nice if they did announce the event.
