Any other 14 Pro Max owners, who are starting to get buyer's remorse even before they have received their new phones? I feel like both the watch and the phone very much belong in an "S" year cycle..
You do raise an interesting point. Apple now likes to insist on the incremental updates, doing just enough each year to make people want to uupgrade. Each year does feel more like a 'S' annual cycle than a full one compared to the old days where they had the S then a brand new iPhone. Likewise, with the Ultra Watch, I only see an incremental update between 1 vs 2. Disappointing.
Us crazies on MRF (& now Discord!) will always be on the bandwagon for the latest iPhone so no buyers remorse here except for colour choices!!
The average punter on the street will not be the same mindset as us unless it is their year to upgrade, get a sweet network deal or they can afford to upgrade etc. In which case, they will likely pass their old iPhone to a family member. This also suits Apple's current business model; keeping more people invested in iPhones.
What is absolutely true is that the iPhone still remains very appealing to all age groups from the young to business people to oldies. The Apple ecosystem plays a major part in this. Android just doesn't have the software ability to sync everything so smoothly with all products like Apple. Google and Samsung are playing catch up here. Pixel line up is definitely improving their ecosystem here.
I do think we have reached peak Apple though with Tim Cook. To push new tech further and faster, Apple will need someone new at the helm.
I'd love to see a proper true Ultra iPhone or foldable iPhone or Apple pushing the boundaries of bleeding tech with all the resources and money they've got. As an Apple shareholder, I'd also like to see this happen although I can't vision it yet, even with the new Vision Pro headset!
I've been a year or so with the Z Fold 4 and really enjoyed the foldable experience. OneUI much less so. Mine has been very durable. Yes, they are not quite ready for prime time yet due to current manufacturing costs & not offering the best cameras or internal screens etc. but within a year or two they will be. At that time, I expect Apple to step into the market and then foldables will be for the masses.
So this year for me, I did consider the 14 Pro Max over the 15 Pro Max to save money. Battery life & charging speeds look like they are the same. My decision to go for the 15 Pro Max ultimately came down to the fact I've been out of Apple (iPhone) for a year so wanted to upgrade to their best again.
I also found the weight difference is 42 grams between my Z Fold 4 vs 15 Pro Max which is massive. I will really notice that difference in usage & in the pocket / travelling. That compares to 23 grams difference with the Z Fold 4 vs 14 Pro Max.
Sunday evening rant over!
