Right, final decision; Going with my Barclay's finance order. Spend ALL morning trying to cancel the Carphone Warehouse. Never again. Phoned them this morning and was told I need to call their sales team. Was given the wrong number "the number you have dialled has not been recognised" so phoned them back again. Was given a different number ('no, I cannot transfer you to the sales team"). Again number not recognised so a third call to them. This time they gave me another number. After trying 3 times I got through. Was on hold for 30 minutes before speaking to someone. Order cancelled in 2 mins. Not a very customer friendly company Carphone Warehouse.

Meh, I wouldn’t stress too much. I’ve had to go through Argos as I completely forgot about the 1pm preorder time and was driving didn’t pull over until 2, so I missed all the main players that opened up preorders on the 15th.

As for live chat I would take anything they tell you with a pinch of salt. A few years ago the O2 live chat folks told me there weren’t sure on stock levels or delivery times, my X arrived on release day. Same goes for EE, I’ve just ordered a sim through them and they couldn’t even track my delivery for me when an error came up on the tracking page.

Feel like live chat is a really good feature for a lot of retailers but it’s there to answer the bare minimum of questions and, actually, the guys running it don’t have access to a lot of the businesses systems so can’t access things like stock levels etc.

That being said I don’t think I’ve ever preordered anything through Argos so I don’t know what they’re like for fulfilling delivery on release day, the Pro Max models didn’t come online for hours after the 15, Plus & Pro and seemed to sell out quite quickly so it seems as though they were aware of their stock allocation before taking orders, but time will tell I guess.

The finance will be automatically be cancelled, yes.

It will however leave a “Hard Footprint” on your credit file.

For those that have ordered with Argos, I've just had this response back from them on live chat regarding deliveries on launch date:

Jack, as I checked, this is the pre-order. As I checked, we did not get the stock allocated from the manufacturer, but the best part is that our team is working on it with them. Soon, you will get a notification for the delivery date, and if the store confirms that date, you can wait.

Wait I'm confused.

I placed an order with Argos yesterday for a 15 Pro 256 and it says to be delivered on 22nd Sept 2023 - does this mean that's not the case anymore?

It will be. But also if the loan has started it will show as "settled" most likely. It isn't a big deal, unless they have too many hard searches in short period of time.

I’ve got 27th Sept to 2nd October and I’m hoping this may get bumped up to launch day, in an under promise/over deliver kinda way. 🤞🏻

A friend of mine has early October as his estimated delivery date, as he experienced delays on Friday when grappling with the trade-in details.

I've said to him that he may get it earlier than that, as Apple likely give a 'worst case scenario' delivery estimate, especially as I assume there could still be card issues with some orders, which will force Apple to cancel and allocate to the next person in the pre-order queue.

I’m getting mine through Barclays Finance. There’s no way I’ll upgrade in two years time anyway so I’m happy spreading out the payments.

Mine currently says ‘Preparing to ship’ for arrival on Friday.

Really looking forward to the upgrade from my iPhone 11 Pro. I’ve been using the Nothing Phone 1 for the last few months and it’s a lovely piece of stylish hardware, but man I really dislike Android and I missed iOS too much.

I really hope the 15 Pro battery is fairly decent.
By all accounts the 14 Pro battery was poor.

This concerns me. However I’m coming from an iPhone 13 Mini so any iphone should be an upgrade in terms of battery life. Either way I work from home and travel by car in which I have a charger.

Looking at the Apple site it says "Choose to upgrade your iPhone whenever you want". What does that mean? Could you upgrade to a 16 next year even though you're still paying off the 15 ??

Got £495 for my 13 pro from music magpie.

You can trade in your old phone with Apple. This pays off at least part of your old loan. If the loan is not cleared by trading in, you pay the difference. Or you can sell your old phone elsewhere and use the money from that to clear your loan.

Then you take out new finance with Barclays for the new phone.

I have too but I think what others have said is that Argos will deliver on launch day, the person on live chat just didn't know what he was talking about.

Yes this is the thing for me. I wouldn’t do it if there was interest on it, but it’s 0% anyway. My bank balance is low atm but I’ve had a few one-off expensive costs. My monthly income is more than enough to easily afford the monthly payment especially in less than two weeks when I get paid.

Up to you - They have no way of checking at MM.

Shouldn't matter - MM will do a theft check (eg. using mobicode) but beyond that, should be no issue unless you've defaulted on your contract and so your provider has blocked the phone emei.

Has anyone been able to get any shipping updates yet? I've got a UPS My Choice account, which I've used in the past to track shipping before my official Apple order status has been updated, but I'm either not using the correct tracking code (my Apple order ID) or there's nothing been updated yet. I'm sure in the past we've been able to track shipments via Syncreon or something, but I can never remember the correct sites to check updates as they're coming into the UK/moving through the postal network.

As anyone that uses Work discounts (smart Shopping, perks at work, reward gateway etc) tried to buy Apple vouchers this week? Last week they were on offer at 5% discount, today they have reverted to 4% discount but are showing as 'out of stock'. Weird for an eGift card. Maybe they have used all their allocation.

I noticed that yes. I wanted to buy some to redeem on an Apple Watch but they are showing as out of stock as well.
