I’ve just checked my credit card and the payment is showing. That’s not how it’s happened in the past. It’s usually the Wednesday/Thursday you see it show up. Not that I mind as I know it’s gone through.
They just took payment from me, some 1 hour after ordering.
Usually they don't until it is in the preparing for shipment stage.
Regarding “card charges”, apple will preauthorise your card and then claim the amount at a point before shipping (eg. For launch day often wednesday or thursday).
I suspect the reason people are seeing different behaviours is down to how their bank reports that preauthorisation. Mine didn’t show anything (no payment notification) but it definitely went to my bank as I had to approve the amount inside the app.

I have a £1,199 pending payment on my CC .. Suspect that will clear the tail end of next week.

do you still see your order as "on hold"? i do and would have thought it would have moved by now, since my finance was already approved
Anyone else take a punt with Very.co.uk ? Literally was on their site from 13:00 and all their models showed as delivering 11 October ? Seemed strange. I am hoping it was a placeholder delivery date and the actual delivery date is indeed launch day. Placed an order for one anyway, and will cancel it if there's no movement next week..

There was no option for store pickup. It will be delivered between 25 and 30 Sept.
I really don't want to trade in via post, read the negative reviews of the third party. I guess, it won't be an issue if I don't send it back? Apple is going to charge me £1199, and then refund back if I send... Any thoughts?

You can still take the trade in into a store and they can action it for you. Just give them the trade in details. Sure I have done that in the past. I think.
Yeah I posted about it earlier, they usually bang on with the release date delivery been using them last 3/4 years. I didn’t realise until I had the order confirmation email the delivery date of the 11th! Weird one!
Hmm i was going to trade in by post for the first time - is it not recommended that sounds like?

I managed to get through on the phone at 1:45pm and I had to get the £100 fee taken off and then I gave the 20 percent code someone on the forum gave me today and they accepted it , and I just got my order confirmation email as I’m typing this
What are you doing about your order then out of interest? Gonna wait and see like me?
I'm with EE and have been for many years on a SIM only contract.
Tied with the idea of having the 16PM on contract with them and wanted to look at the prices.
It seems as well as paying for the phone in full, the contracts are like £25+ a month, what's the point when you can just get it from Apple and go SIM only... ?
