Easiest upgrade for years and EE even waived the £100 fee on my anytime upgrade for me by moving my contract date by a week. iPhone 16 Pro Max Black Titanium ordered and delivery date of the 20th Sept.

Late to the party this year!

Ordered White Titanium 16PM from EE, due to be delivered on Friday.

Has anyone got case recommendations? I want a case similar to Apple’s clear MagSafe case but less costly (with the camera control cover, not a cut out)

Nice, if you are the flex plans unfortunately the discount only applies to the air time portion of the contract not the device, so its in effect only 10%
Don’t know what plan you chose but I didn’t get any flex plan. My phone cost isn’t separate. I just got the same full works plan as last year , same cost , it was over £100 a month but I got the 20 percent discount to knock it down to 80 something.

Take a look in the case thread in the accessories forum.

I think you’ll struggle with the camera control. Most manufacturers have just gone for a cut out.

I've got a Blue Light one but it doesn't work on my upgrade via EE's site - are others doing it on the phone?

Much prefer e-sim and how easier it is to move form one iPhone to another. iPhones get more and more advanced and yet we still want to stick little bits of plastic in a tray to get it to work. Why?
In my case because I have a UK eSIM & physical Thai (DTAC) SIM that I require for 2FA. One of my previous iPhone's, a XS Max, simply died on me. The Apple store replaced (without me asking) that phone under UK consumer rights laws. It did however flag up for inspection, so had to be sent off & I was given a loan phone whilst my dead XS Max was inspected.

Now why is this important re: eSIM? Well the replacement of an eSIM should be a straight forward procedure, that can be done online, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that with DTAC; a visit to the nearest DTAC service centre is required, which is a bit of a problem if I'm in the UK. In my case I would have had to fly from the UK to Bangkok twice in the space of a week, hardly practical or, financially viable. With a physical SIM I just popped it out from one phone and in to the other.

IF you're a traveller eSIM presents problems. Some mobile operators don't support eSIM on PAYG & good luck getting an eSIM in China.

It's really down to the mobile operators; until eSIM is supported universally & a seamless ability to transfer between phones without visiting service centres, I would NEVER buy a phone that was eSIM only. It's not that we don't want to get rid of those little bits of plastic (I'd love to) however, ALL obstacles must be removed beforehand.

Im using my apple account balance

Apple do pre-authorisations when placing the order. Since you've used your Apple Account Balance, the balance is usually deducted when the item is marked as 'Preparing to Ship' or 'Shipped'.

If you was using a credit card, then the balance of the device would be held by the bank (not Apple), and be unavailable to use either until the authorisation expires, or the charge is claimed and then the money is actually taken.

If you were using a debit card, then pre-authorisations and holds work differently, therefore the amount required would be taken from you and held until either the authorisation expires, and the funds are given back to you, or the charge is claimed and then Apple takes the money.

Either way, the final charge by Apple is only claimed when the order is 'Preparing to Ship' or 'Shipped'.

Hope this helps anyone needing advice on pre-authorsations and money holds

Tl;Dr - When placing order money is held, charges will only be confirmed/money will only be 'taken' when order ships

Anyone trading in at Music Magpie this year? It's not offering me the option of the SMARTDrop Kiosk. Tried last night and again today.

After over an hour and a half on the phone with a very, very good (I’m not being sarcastic) EE lady, got a Desert Titanium 16 Pro Max 1TB arriving on 20th!!!

If you're upgrading on EE, then you can use Blue Light, though you have to do it either in store (not possible atm, will have to be in person on the 20th), via the app or over the phone as per EE's site.
