IUP is 0% over 20 months vs 0% over 24 for the regular financing. AppleCare is a mandatory inclusion with iUP (someone correct me if I’m wrong) vs optional with 24 month 0%. IUP is in-store only vs delivery option with 0% 24 month. And obviously no ‘hand back’ the handset after 12 payments for next years handset and start a fresh new 20 months iUP commitment. IUP being 0% over 20 months means higher monthly payments vs the same handset & AppleCare over 0% 24 months.

I was on iUP for 3 successive upgrades through to the 14 Pro. Paid off the 20 months of iUP for the 14 Pro so now own it outright. That phone will be going to my son and, like yourself, dithering between going back on iUP and the 24 month 0% financing for the 16 Pro.
I don’t really need AppleCare as I’m generally good with my phones but at the same time like the idea of no faffing around each year with MM and the other phone buying companies.

Does everyone do AppleCare?
I always do here. Only needed it a couple of times, once for an iPhone and once for a Mac. Both of those were no argument, no quibble experiences. The iPhone in particular was ‘here’s a new handset, transfer everything over and off you go’ no waiting for repairs to be enacted. Mrs also had cause to use AppleCare for her phone a few years back. I take the stance that its better to have it and not need it rather than vice versa.

Pre-pre-ordered the 16 Pro in black (as well as pre-ordering Ultra 2 in black), just need to remember to checkout at 1pm on Friday as I'll be travelling.
Haven't taken out insurance on any phone for years but think I'll probably purchase AppleCare for both items this year, just extra piece of mind

I went for smaller pro and I actually prefer - its a lot nicer to hold one handed.
Yeah my wife has a regular size 14 and I like it. Plus it may encourage me to use my iPad more, the Pro Max is large enough to be really good for browsing.

Usually I prefer the battery of the Max but the presentation also mentioned better efficiency on the models so hopefully that helps too.

I can’t remember from the keynote but were there many differences between Pro and PM in the 16?

In the UK am I going to be able to pre-order on Friday as part of joining the upgrade program? Understand I need to go to store to pick up as part of the program but will I be able to begin the process online Friday?

From what I remember, you’ll probably be able to reserve a phone online for in-store pick-up on Friday. Not specifically for iUP though. (It’s been a while since I was newly enrolled on iUP, got used to the annual ‘reserve for upgrade’ process though).

I think you’ll have to reserve the phone on Friday and then go to the store on launch day to collect and signup

Yeah I expected this, just worried about signing up for regular finance or full payment at checkout to collect in store if iUP is not available at checkout. Don't want to accidently sign up for either of those.

So here we go again. Did the pre preorder last night for a 16 Pro in natural titanium. I was thinking about going max this year but as it is getting larger I am somewhat concerned about the size, so I convinced myself, that going from 6.1 to 6.3 is almost like going for the max hahaha.
I noticed, that all 3rd party cases have cutouts for the capture button whereas the Apple silo one case has it covered. This makes me think about going for an Apple case even though I wanted the Benks one.
Also, the new MagSafe puck is now 25W, I guess the existing ones are not going to be upgraded…

Start the process now and get pre approved, so you can preorder on Friday quicker.

All set for another year. Yeah the upgrades are minimal, but my wife's 11PM is showing its age so she's clamouring for my 15PM. I can therefore only do the gentlemanly thing and get myself a new 16PM 😅.

I love how Apple repeatedly mentioned that the phone was "built from the ground up" for AI, and yet that same AI works on last years phone, and the new phone looks exactly like last years too 🤣.

For those you paying outright, remember to check if you have some sort of workplace deals scheme where you can get Apple gift cards. Mine (Benefit Hub) does a 4% discount, which saves ~£64 on the price of a 1TB Pro Max. Combine with a cashback card and it gets even better 😃. Plus it removes the chance of a card being declined at the pre-order checkout, (Though don't shoot me if the giftcard route goes wrong, I've done it for the last few Apple products now and it works well. You can try and rinse a bit more from it, by getting say 5% off Curry's gift cards and using then to buy Apple cards in store, but I've had issues with stores not being willing to sell me that many gift cards, using gift cards, (and then have to travel to another store, who are fine) so for the sake of saving an extra £16, I don't think its worth the hassle now). Also works well for getting a bit of a discount on Apple subscriptions as they'll take from you account balance first.

Glad to see the locals are back again
is that time of year, what is the best course of action? Any experts....

Currently with EE ESIM 15 PM upgrading to PM 16, how do I transfer my ESIM over to my new phone.

I thought I was set on white but the gold in some pics looks so nice. But in others it looks brown.

Can be easily done during set up of your new phone.

I'm upgrading sooner than planned. I usually keep my phones for three years, but my 15 Pro has had poor battery life and constant overheating since I got it. Even after contacting Apple during the return window, disabling features didn't fix the overheating especially when using the camera.

I suspect it's part of a defective Day 1 batch, so I’m giving Apple another chance by trying the 16 Pro, hoping its battery life and heat management are better. I’ll know soon enough if it’s resolved.

Your 15 Pro will still be under warranty. Why not speak to Support and get it swapped out instead?

In the UK...

I had recently returned my old iPhone to an Apple Store and now have physical Apple Store gift cards worth £600.

I have now setup the pre-order for a 16PM, base 256GB model, Desert Titanium.

Question:
Will I be able to utilise my Apple Store gift cards (worth £600) and pay the remaining via a credit card on 13 Sept, once the online orders open?

Anyone done this before and how?

I am specifically asking about doing this online (in the Apple Store app or Apple website) as soon as the ordering webitse/app opens and not physically in store?

Any help on clarifying this would be much appreciated...

I have done this before on the app. I got an Apple Gift card as a birthday gift with £200 on it. I just went into my account on the Apple Store app and go to “Apple Account Balance” and add your gift card. You then use this balance to part pay for the iPhone at pre order. Your credit card will be used to pay the rest. It’s pretty easy and quick. 🏻

Granted, I haven’t tried this in a while. But last time I approached the subject they flatly refused as the battery was tested and in fully working order according to their OTA tests.

I can’t be sure if it’s the battery or just a weakness with the phone… I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to try again though thanks.

I’ve just remembered!!! Any subscriptions you have will use your Apple Account Balance so the actual amount when you check out your pre order may be lower. Not a big issue as your credit card will pick up the rest.

Just so you don’t think some money is missing. All subscriptions default to use your balance first.
