I’ve got a 12 so I think I’m going to go for 16 Pro.

From past experience do Tesco Mobile online have PAYG or sim free for preorder or is it only contracts? Was hoping to use my 15% staff discount this weekend

Same. 12 mini to pro. I’ll miss the smaller size but that’s unavoidable now anyway.
And my battery health is now 72%…

Forgive my question if it sounds silly but the last two iPhones I’ve bought (regular 11 and 13 PM) I’ve paid for the phone on finance and then had a seperate sim only plan.

Is it cheaper these days to still do that or should I wait and go though a carrier?

I’m with three and I can get sim only unlimited everything for £21 a month plus the 16PM 1TB for £66 a month through the Barclays finance direct with Apple, totalling £87 a month effectively. Is it likely Three will have cheaper offers on Friday? Sorry it’s just been a while since I’ve had an old fashioned contract haha

In the UK am I going to be able to pre-order on Friday as part of joining the upgrade program? Understand I need to go to store to pick up as part of the program but will I be able to begin the process online Friday?
Yeah you reserve and then do it in store to get approved

do you get priority if you pre- pre order before Friday? meaning, if you put in pre, pre order yesterday will you get more priority than those who do Friday? Dont think so?

Preordered yesterday. Does anybody know what day it will arrive? Will it be the 21st? Or 20th

It just means checkout is quicker than those who have to pick the phone, sort out payments etc. preorder means just click and done (if you can get on the site!!)

you've not actually pre-ordered, just completed the finance authorisation (if you took out the 24 m 0%). you still need to actually pre-order from Friday 13th 1PM. Completing the finance application and being approved doesn't garuntee you a phone so you really need to complete the process when the store opens at 1pm.

Is the pre-order time 1pm UK rather than 8am on 13-09-24 ?

1pm on 13th... been that time for many a year now in the uk

Don't think I'm bothering this year, first for me but the 16 pro just sucks IMO

It's not built for AI, Tim is full of *****, AI was never coming to the 15 or 16, they've rushed it out and it's not even ready yet.

So what do we get? camera button from Sony Ericsson 2006....

Even that clown mrwhostheboss new video said it's utterly pointless and actually takes longer than just tapping the screen ffs.

It's another action button, no innovation just add a button.
Interesting - what makes it take longer than tapping the screen?

With EE seemingly getting rid of the Upgrade Anytime feature - whats the best course if you want to upgrade every year?

Do you have to buy out your contract?

I believe so. But a few years ago I stopped getting the phone through my carrier — instead I buy directly from Apple and have a sim-only deal with 3.

I think this is what I will do when my contracts runs out early next year
It’s definitely been easier for me. My sim deal is from before they reintroduced roaming charges so I get totally free international data and calls/texts, which I would lose if I changed to a new plan.

So whenever I want to upgrade my phone I just trade in with Apple. 20 months ago I got the 14 and they put the trade in value to clear the finance, this time there’s only £155 outstanding so I’ll clear that myself and am putting the full £485 trade in value to lower the cost of the new handset. The monthly cost will then only be £25 - which is cheaper than the £38 of my current 14PM (because I’m going for the pro, not pro max), and without affecting my tariff.

I presume there’s no difference in adding AppleCare later (assuming no theft/loss).

Actually have hanger insurance through Barclays but it’s just not as seamless or trustworthy as Apple care so something to think through
