I presume there’s no difference in adding AppleCare later (assuming no theft/loss).

Actually have hanger insurance through Barclays but it’s just not as seamless or trustworthy as Apple care so something to think through

Think you get 60 days or something like that to add it.

Doubtful - I didn’t even know it was a thing until reading it on here yesterday. People outside of forums are always significantly different to people on forums.
If they are that interested in pre ordering they would know. It’s well marketed on the website.

where are you seeing pre orders open now on the website? It says view pricing now, and pre orders start on the 13th, exactly as the keynote said. This isn’t a pre-order yet, it’s just a configuration save. Conversely, the site does let you pre-order the new Watch.

But also, most people aren’t scouring the Apple website either. They’re waiting for their carrier to say they’re eligible to upgrade.

First time pre-ordering Apple direct this year, what’s normally the best way to confirming the pre orders on Friday, via the app or on the website? To avoid any crashing due to high traffic or is it normally fairly smooth?

I’ve seen people say both with no issues. I suppose if you’re able to, have both open at once.

All it takes is people going to view prices and it's right there on first line

Get ready for iPhone 16 Pro pre‑order.

Choose your new iPhone today, then speed through checkout when pre‑order starts at 1:00 pm BST on 13.09.

From £41.62/mo.per month Footnote ** or £999

Those who are using the website and are looking to upgrade clearly know what they are looking that

Average customers no but average customers likely aren't looking on the apple site if they aren't serious about buying

Well exactly, average people are not doing that. I dare say most people just upgrade when their contract is up. It is a particular “hardcore” group who watch the keynote and join forums and have any interest whatsoever in pre-sales, let alone visiting Apple’s website to read tech specs and then stumble upon being able to pre-order.

And I don’t mean this in a disparaging way at all - I did my pre-order today!

But when you said everyone has probably done the pre pre order, I just don’t agree. We are a minority. Everyone in my family owns an iPhone, all of them get whatever the latest one is when it’s contract renewal time, except one member who gets the old model from another member. None of them buy directly from Apple.

I believe so. But a few years ago I stopped getting the phone through my carrier — instead I buy directly from Apple and have a sim-only deal with 3.
This is what ive been doing for the past few years. My sim only with three is due to end in October, they’ve just offered me unlimited everything today for £21 (via their live chat as I pestered them into a discount down from £25) and I want the 16PM 1TB which is £66 a month via Apple, so that totals £87 a month. I want to keep my 13Pm as a backup phone (it’s paid off). Do you think that will be cheaper than the contract deals they release Friday ?

sorry I’m not sure I understand the question - cheaper than whose contract deals?

Anyone used backmarket.com for trade-in? I’ve got a saved basket with musicmagpie but like others have said, no idea what might happen when you go through to checkout. Got £648 for 15PM.

No but how much is Apple offering? I got 485 for a 14PM so the 15 must be over 500. Sometimes I find the convenience and security of going with the option you know won’t bite you in the arse can be worth not getting very top dollar. It’s why I go for the trade in now instead of selling on eBay and hoping the buyer doesn’t turn around and pretend they never received it or some other scam

15 Pro Max here at the moment and the only thing that's really making me consider the upgrade is being on the IUP already. Not really sold at all this year and not sure what my choice will be if I do upgrade.

Three’s. Sorry what I am asking basically is sim only + finance from Apple better / cheaper than just going to the carriers for the phone and sim plan combined these days?
I haven’t compared but I don’t see it being more expensive. Apple’s finance is transparent - the price of the phone divided by 24 months, no interest. I don’t think a carrier is going to have a deal that means you get the phone for less.

Personally I just like the convenience as well, because trying to upgrade early can be a pain and it always means a new contract. The only reason I still get 3’s Go Roam perk is because i took this plan out before 2021. If I was getting my handset through them, I’d have lost it and pay a fortune anytime I go abroad.

£570, leaving £80 outstanding on the Barclays loan. Annoying…. :-(

I obviously don’t know your financial situation but personally I’d swallow the £80 and go with the convenience/peace of mind.

Got a pre-pre-order saved for a 16 Pro Black Ti but can’t decide whether to change it to Natural or White on Friday. Need to see some hands on photos!
Exactly the same as me :D

I’m not sure what to order at this point lol.

I originally thought a 16 ultramarine would be great as there isn’t much difference between the pro and non pro models but then I don’t wanna miss out on the 5x zoom and 120hz refresh which I’m sure I’m gonna notice coming from a 15PM.

15 PM was my first PM device and I felt it was too bulky and one hand operation was impossible so this time around I thought I’ll go for a 16 pro but then it only has 128GB base memory and if I go 256GB it’s just £100 less than a 16 PM arghhhh!!! hate you Tim
