There’s normally an embargo that is typically lifted on the Tuesday before the launch. Expect the review on November 1st. Reviewers will probably get the device around a week earlier.

First watch? I’m not upgrading because cellular is meh and I’m really happy with my SB S2.

First cellular watch... (the battery life is crap) there sother things such as the EE exclusivity playing into it as well.

Oh I was asking if it was your first watch. yeah, I don’t know what happened between o2 and Apple since they were the original pact. Hmm.

Ah oops!! I have a S1 with a cracked screen when I dropped it at the gym back in March ish.

Yeah my original iPhone is still locked to O2 but I just can’t use EE.

It looks like EE are the only carrier on the country which can use eSIMs, so mybe that played a part in Apple’s decision.

I’m getting the 8 to play around to see how the glass feels, then I’ll return it and get the X mostly likely.

If the delivery dates slip past December... yeah I can ride out another year on my 7

I’ve got an 8 coming Friday. I’m not going to keep it as I want the x. Just going to play around with it for the weekend then send it back.

Such as this I presume?

A huge saving of £39 over the £49 Apple charger. Personally I have always found Anker products to be of very good quality.
To get fast charging you need a usb c charger of 18W+

Like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/CONMDEX-Ma...=1505712451&sr=1-3&keywords=29w+usb+c+charger
Or this https://www.amazon.co.uk/AUKEY-Char...=1505712451&sr=1-1&keywords=29w+usb+c+charger

Why get something if you have no intention of keeping it. Am I the only one who thinks that is wrong.
It might be wrong but lots are doing it especially those who have to have a new device till the X comes out as they would be having about 3-4 new phones over the next few weeks if they return it within the 14day period. I personally wouldn’t want to order a new phone set it up and then reset it every few weeks to much hassle

Legally it is perfectly fine but morally it is questionable. Deprives someone who genuinely wants want at launch from getting one and it costs Apple money as the returned unit will end up being a refurbished unit. As Apple are ripping us off on pricing this year hard to shed a tear for them over some lost money. Still not fair depriving someone else though.

So you disagree with ssrij?

No. With the one you linked to from amazon you’ll get the same Charing speed as an iPad charger. If you want to get near the 50% in 30 mins you’ll need the 28w usb c. See apple’s small print under the tech specs for the 8.

Testing conducted by Apple in August 2017 using preproduction iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus units and software and accessory Apple USB-C Power Adapters (29W Model A1540, 61W Model A1718, 87W Model A1719). Fast-charge testing conducted with drained iPhone units. Charge time varies with environmental factors; actual results will vary.

I’d also not want to take the shine of some of the features the 8 shares with X. Happy to see them first time when I get my hands on the X ( sometime mid 2018!)

I replaced a few of our 'house' chargers with these earlier this year:

Anker USB Charger 24W 2-Port USB Wall Charger and PowerIQ Technology for iPhone 8 / iPhone 8 Plus / iPhone X / iPhone 7 / 6 / 6 Plus, iPad Air 2 / mini 3, Samsung Galaxy S6 / S6 Edge, Nexus, HTC M9, Motorola, LG and More https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016LPMFUA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Dq2Vzb55PW87E

Agreed. Strange mentality of people buying a phone to “have a play around with” then sending it back.

Abusing the returns policy IMO

I don't believe it's a strange mentality.

You can't get a real feel for the phone in store, and I tend to not put my phone in a case.

I am thus using the period to decide whether a glass-back phone is for me, or whether I should hold onto my 7 for potentially two more years.

The purchase is quite expensive, and I don’t want to be lumped with a phone which I don’t like.

‘Abusing’ probably a little strong. Apple state pretty clearly they’ll take it back for what ever reason.

“You have the right to cancel your order, return a product or cancel a service contract for any reason”

Staff in the Apple store have encourage me to try it out and see how you get on.

Maybe a slight moral question but then where are Apple’s morals selling phones at £1000, having a $1=£1=€1 conversation rate in store, charging £30 for a usb cables etc etc

I think that's reasonable, but getting it with the intention of returning it (using it as a freebie) is plain wrong (IMHO).

Apologies if this has been posted previously but out of the box iPhone 8 won't support fast charging; according to a disclaimer on Apple's website it's coming later on in the year after a software update.

Probably a stupid question, these wireless charging pads will only work with no case on? As I wanted an Apple leather case for mine.
The 7/8 leather case and 7/8 plus leather case description has been updated to state that 'And you can keep it on all the time, even when you’re charging iPhone 8 Plus wirelessly.'
Also worth noting that Currys/Pc World have a few leather cases reduced from £49 to £19, not much online availability but a few options available to collect in store, reserved and picking mine up today.

Fast wireless charging coming with a software update. usb wired fast charging has been supported on iPads for a while and I think it may have worked on the 7s too

To clear up some misconceptions about charging here are some facts:

- The first iOS devices with fast charging are the iPad Pro 10.5 and iPad Pro 12.9.
- The first iPhone supporting fast charging is the iPhone 8 range.
- Fast charging is enabled from the outset provided you have a charger that specifically supports an increased power delivery - only a small few third party chargers support this. You must also use a USB-C to Lightning cable.
- Fast wireless charging is coming in a future software update.
- Older model iPhones can charge a little more quickly with an adaptor over the standard 5W, but this is not to be confused with fast charging which is different technology with different requirements.

Have you got a link to this disclaimer?
He is referring to fast wireless charging, the disclaimer is found on the description of any wireless charger on the store.
