....hmm, I'm having second thoughts about my current 'reserved' iPhone 8 Plus, on the IUP!

As I currently have an iPhone 7, looking at the IP for the iPhone X, it's only another £10 extra a month over the monthly cost of the iPhone 8 Plus!! At such a little difference per month, its probably worth going for the X is it not?!!?

Does anyone know if I bought the 29w USB C charger, and accidently plugged in a none fast charge device (iPod touch or iPad air 2) would it damage the device?
In short, no: Modern devices are built to only accept specific amp levels, so even if you plug your iPhone into an unsupported adapter, you'll only get the bare minimum the adapter supports (either the 5V/1A or 12V/2.4A charging spec).

Sorry if this has been covered previously in the thread, but if you reserve online and pay in full upfront, do you have a set time to pick up, or is it held for you (assuming availability etc)?

Thinking I'll probably buy outright and go sim only rather than be tied into a network contract at £70+ a month for two years.

I believe once you've paid the the device in full they hold it for you until you pick it up and you should not need a time slot.

Why get something if you have no intention of keeping it. Am I the only one who thinks that is wrong.

I ordered it, then changed my mind (the very next day) but Apple said I was unable to cancel as it was preparing for dispatch! I also ordered the Apple 4k TV at 8:02 Friday and it’s still on "processing items"?

with that mindset you could also say then its only another £7.50/month to get the 256 over the 64!

That's not the iUP, it's the standard 0% finance plan. It's £12.50 a month extra on the iUP because the Applecare is more expensive.

Great, thanks - reckon i'll go for that and stick it on an interest free credit card. That way i can pay it off as I like, and i'm not tied into a 2 year upgrade cycle either, so if iPhone XS or whatever is groundbreaking, I sell the X.

Three have got sim only plans with 12gb of data for £14, which seems ok.

If I wanted to reserve one for in store collection on launch day, when does that go live, is it at midnight on Friday or early morning? Also, how long do they hold it for? It won't be until Saturday that I can go and pick it up.

Cheers

You are now too late for launch day. You will need to wait until 6am on the 23rd to try to reserve one for the following day.

You sound like me - 'only another £10 per month'! That's how am justifying the upgrade from my 7+ to an X :) Of course if I went for a 64GB X it would only be another £3 per month.

I don't think I would have upgraded to an 8+ (though I say that every year!!) so I think you should go for X but wait until I get my reservation in first ;):D;)

Thats not bad I was tempted with the 0% credit card route but will be remortgaging early next year so I have to be careful to make sure that nothing stops this.

...well, using the IP you're not going to really see or feel that £200 difference. The IP page doesn't say if the upfront cost of the X will be more than £69 (that I can see, anyway). So I either go for the 8 Plus, 64gb, and pay £36.50 a month or the X 64gb, and pay £46.50 a month. For a measly extra tenna, I may as well opt for the X....!

I'm so indecisive!!
:rolleyes::p

He didn't say IUP he said IP which is different............

What colour of X will you go for?

So on the reserve day, just do that - reserve and choose in store pickup?

Yes - that will presumably be the only option other than home delivery. It remains to be seen how much stock Apple will have or us to reserve on 27th.

Hopefully yield has increased from the 10k units per day reported the other week! If there'll only be ~1 million iPhones to reserve worldwide!

....hmmmmmm  I think I will wait until mid week and decide if I am going to cancel my reservation for the 8 Plus - it seems silly paying £36.50 a month for a similar model phone (7 to 8 Plus) when for just £10 more a month, I can go for the X (which is a much larger jump - 7 to X).

What colour of X will you go for?

Now that I AM certain of - Space Grey without a doubt!!!!!

well then again, as you won't be paying the 15%APR this time it might cost roughly the same ;)

...so for iPhone X, we just wait for pre-orders to go live in October, and pre-order, using the 'Join' button on the IUP page (like many did for the 8 Plus), which will then reserve our phone for collection in-store , and then we just opt for IP when we actually go and collect...?!

going to wait for the first 8 owners to test a variety of wireless chargers and fast chargers and figure out which are the best third party offerings.

Anyone know that for the iPhone upgrade program, if you fail the credit check, can you buy the phone outright then and there?
