Does anyone know how to set up apple pay on apple watch as I have treated myself to gen 1 stainless steel I got cheap second hand to go with my iPhone 8 plus on Friday.

....hmmmmmm  I think I will wait until mid week and decide if I am going to cancel my reservation for the 8 Plus - it seems silly paying £36.50 a month for a similar model phone (7 to 8 Plus) when for just £10 more a month, I can go for the X (which is a much larger jump - 7 to X).

Now that I AM certain of - Space Grey without a doubt!!!!!

See I am less certain now that there is no white bezel around the screen!! Am swaying towards the silver for a change from black/space grey and to get the white back...............but I do like black/space grey

going to wait for the first 8 owners to test a variety of wireless chargers and fast chargers and figure out which are the best third party offerings.

...so for iPhone X, we just wait for pre-orders to go live in October, and pre-order, using the 'Join' button on the IUP page (like many did for the 8 Plus), which will then reserve our phone for collection in-store , and then we just opt for IP when we actually go and collect...?!

Yep - thats my plan! Only 39 days to more stress and disappointment!! :(

It's through the Apple Watch app on the phone so you will need to wait until you get the phone and set that up first. If I remember correctly it's best to set up your bank/credit cards on the phone first and it will be quicker and easier just to transfer them to the watch.

Thats not bad I was tempted with the 0% credit card route but will be remortgaging early next year so I have to be careful to make sure that nothing stops this.

I've gone for the sim only upgrade - should save two monthly payments of £40+ before the X comes out, which all helps with the justification!

Been umming and ahhing all weekend about making the switch from a 7 to the 8+ since there was still launch day availability to upgrade (I’m on the IUP) and because I fancy sitting out of the first generation X.

Finally decided this morning I’d go for it, and lo and behold, there doesn’t seem to be any stock left for Friday so I have a reservation for “by October 3rd”. I now see you can’t reserve any at all. Does this mean I’m likely to get first offer for any leftover launch day stock on Saturday morning?

That's not the iUP, it's the standard 0% finance plan. It's £12.50 a month extra on the iUP because the Applecare is more expensive.

This is why I'm moving to the iPhone payments plane. I think the cost of Applecare is extortionate on the X. I'll just get separate mobile phone insurance for much cheaper.

I mean, it is what it is. It's nothing special - it's literally the cost of the phone broken down into monthly payments at 0% APR

Remember the cheaper insurance will probably not use genuine Apple parts for repairs. Also that Apple care does not cover theft or loss so there are pros and cons for both to consider.

I’ve had an iPad ‘repaired’ poorly through insurance before. You can see the inferior parts clearly and had to send it back a number of times to get them to do properly still left with a spongy home button and screen where you can see feint markings on

...there is actually only ONE thing which is bothering me!!!

I have never used a 'Plus' model iPhone in my entire life (barely even held one either!) and I am really apprehensive that when I come face to face with the iPhone 8 Plus, it is gonna feel and look like a monster!!!

From the many vids I have watched on YouTube (7 vs 7 Plus!), it is clear a 'Plus' model iPhone is not a 'one handed device' - is this true?!?! I remember making the jump from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 and initially hating the larger screen size as I felt it was just too big - but I eventually got used to it! I'm wondering if it will be the same with making the 7 to 8 Plus jump...?!!!!!

I've got the 6S+ and went from a 5 to the 6S+ which seemed like a huge step up but within a few hours of using it It seemed normal and not as big, one way i found to get the size is to try and get a case for the device and hold that to get the size. Regarding the One Handed use for the most part I can use it one handed there is the odd occasion that I've had to use both hands mainly if I'm browsing the web or writing emails/documents for which i use both hands in landscape as the keyboard is larger

I think this is totally personal to you and how big your hands are. I personally think all phones are 2 handed devices these days when typing and the iPhone 7/8 is too small for me. I have quite large hands so the plus model fits me better plus I get the better camera tech and the larger screen which is something I am interested in.

At least you can go to a store and see both models today to compare before making an order. It was definitely a risk when they released the original plus size phone.

As with the other comments you get use to it. I can do >95% of my interactions with one hand. iOS 11 also brings one handed keyboard too!

The larger screen is GREAT as is the added battery life and dual cameras.

But it’s a heart over minds decision, I tried the + size for the 6 and 6s but went back to the standard size each time. For the 7 I knew I wanted to have the bigger screen and camera; so really gave it a good try in the first two weeks and have not looked back.

You have two weeks from owning one to make your mind up and return.. leaves you plenty of time to pre order an X if you wish

...hmm - guess I will indeed get used to the bigger size! There is one thing that I am looking forward to on the bigger screen and that's writing texts!! On my current iPhone 7, I am forever hitting the wrong keys when texting - especially letters towards the edge of screen (I use my right thumb to tap the letters!), so a bigger screen should help tremendously!

...yep, indeed you're correct - I'd forgotten that I could give it 2 weeks before returning if I didn't like it!

After using the plus for even a short while when you go back to the smaller variant it seems way smaller and even toy like in my opinion.

Plus, if you dropped it and damaged it early (say in first month), it would get 'repaired' by whoever your insurance chose, but your remaining 11 months warranty would be invalid.

So your £1100 iPhone X, if something failed, Apple would almost certainly refuse to fix it under warranty.

I know AC is expensive, but valid warranty, worldwide cover and instore repairs/replacements win out every time for me.

This is why I always get AppleCare+ and am pleased it comes with iUP.
I'll use AC+ for accidental damage and warranty replacements, to ensure authentic parts and replacements. I have insurance and also my mobile is covered by my bank for theft/loss.

Also worth remembering that AC+/warranty will cover accessories and also has given me "leverage" in the past getting Apple phone cases and Apple Watch straps replaced.

I got the first Plus (6) and had return it for a normal size 6.

The main reason for that, was I went from a 5S, so the jump was quite big, but the next year I went from my 6 to a 6 Plus and from there to my current 7+, soon to be 8+! :D

After reading these comments about AppleCare+ I think I will stump up the extra cash for it and cancel my gadget insurance, (I am incredibly careful with my phones) this will take the sting out of paying more each month.

For the first time ever, I didn't get Applecare on my 7+, because I've always been careful and never needed to make a claim.

I'm currently typing this through a 'spider webbed' screen, that will be replace by Apple on Wednesday for circa £150...

Definitely, Apple Care + is really really good. I think it’s worth the punt, especially if you want to go caseless.

Nothing will beat the + in terms of battery and the awesome screen for viewing web pages in landscape and video. The X might come close but the Plus still has the best screen for video. For the year I used a Plus is was really great and I even almost went back but I stuck to the regular because I couldn’t be bothered to deal with returns etc.
