I'm going to go for the 128GB Pixel 2 for £749. £50 more than 64GB iPhone 8, seems alright to me.

Again, I'm not bashing iPhone 8. It looks really good. If Google messes up availability like last year and I can't preorder one then I'll get iPhone 8 instead.

I don't think I have ever seen google get anything right when it comes to phone availability. This year maybe different though you never know.

Decision now is to decide if I upgrade to iOS 11 now on my iPhone 6 or if I wait for the 8 plus on Friday....

I’ve run the last beta and now GM on my 6

For the most part it’s pretty snappy but there are several lag issues, particularly in messaging and battery life is a bit suspect

With so little time between now and Friday I wouldn’t bother

First small disaster for my not-yet-in-my-hand phone. Thank you to the person who posted a day or so ago (and a bazillion posts) about iPhone7+ leather case in Currys for £20 on clearance. Too bad the currys I reserved it at couldn't read and sold mine...
Order (pickup Fri) still at processing but Credit card showing it as a pending transaction..

That was me, sorry to hear about that. I think their system needs a bit of polishing. I was asked ‘what item did you reserve’ so I said iPhone 7 case. They went to look in the back, then came back with nothing, asked for my reservation number, and said oh an iPhone 7 case? I thought you just said iPhone 7... Then turned around and got it from a pile of reservations behind him. It’s a shame about yours, it seemed like a great deal. May be worth complaining to the company online, you never know they could transfer from a different store for you, or maybe just offer a voucher.

....you know what?! Just for the hell of it, I may just go and collect my reserved iPhone 8 Plus on Friday morning and go ahead sign up to the IUP (whilst at the same time, selling my 7 to Envirofone for £366, which will pay off the finance on my 7) . At least by getting on the program, I can upgrade every year with Apple. Next year's next iPhone will better than the iPhone X.....!!

:rolleyes::rolleyes::p

That was my thinking. It's probably not worth it.

Why not both?

Is it worth upgrading to iOS 11 for a couple of days? Does it affect the resale value of the iPhone 6?

So,when can we expect to see orders begin being dispatched?
Tomorrow maybe, or will it be like last year and dispatch late in the night before launch?

I'd definitely wait as it will make your new phone all the more different / exciting. I would wait but the X is a bit further away and I may well need to update when my s3 Watch arrives if not for app updates in the meantime.

Say what? Seriously! What about the 'only £10 more a month for the X'? You are not going to end up as indecisive and cutiekitty last year? The saga ;-)

What is your deadline for sending your handset to Envirofone? Have you taken up their usual 7 extension offer? If they still do that - they did last year. If you have time you could always get the 8+ on IUP and try for a few days to see if you like the size etc.

Last year I got the 7+ in gold on an IP plan (partly due to unavailability of my preferred model and because I have a gold MacBook and Beats) but changed for Matt black as I could not settle with the white bezel. I assumed they would just exchange but no they refunded, cancelled the original Barclays agreement and did a new purchase and agreement for the new Matt black phone. So what am saying really is don't think you can't return an iP bought on IUP and if you are still unsure especially if you can hold onto your 7 for a few days more while you decide what if you are happy with it. That's what I'd do in your situation.

Am planning to keep my 7+ until I get my X and am certain I want to keep it. I think I want to go back to a smaller phone but I may not like the reality of it. I know I will lose a little on trade in value but I don't see that as a major issue since the outstanding balance with Barclays will also be less.

I doubt iOS 11 will impact the resale value, if anything I would have thought having the latest OS version on would seem attractive to a buyer. That's just my opinion though.

This is it. It will make the new phone even more exciting but I want to update my series 2 apple watch to watch OS 4. Hmm. Not sure.

Good point.

Just got an email from Envirofone saying:
"Your price is locked for 14 days. If we receive your device after 14 days then we can only give you the website price."
They're implying price won't stay locked after 14 days... has this always happened, and they give an extension anyway with the original agreed price, or have they changed their policies this year?
Anyone else waiting to send theirs?

Least got IOS 11 to use until the x arrives or is announced i should say.

So far i’m Liking it. Loving it on the iPad i must say

My 14 days runs out on Monday. iPhone arrives Friday. Hoping special delivery and quick processing their end means I'll just make it!

I've got an iPhone reserved for store pick up between 9-9.30 I also have a watch for store pick up between 10-10.30. What's the probability I'll be able to collect both together at 9AM?

I'm sure they could honour it, I mean, it'd mean less work for them

My 14 days runs out on Friday but I had an email on Tuesday and have extended it for another seven days.

They've had the price locked for 14 days policy for the last couple of years; if you agree to extend the offer by seven days you'll get your original quoted price (assuming they don't claim X,Y or Z is wrong and adjust accordingly).
