I've never even once looked at a smart watch android wear or apple as for me the downside is having to charge it just as much as a phone if not more.

OT post but for everyone who has an Apple Watch what do you use the for besides telling the time!
They are a must for me. Notifications for one and i get a lot of them. Fitness it plays a big factor and keeping on top of my appointments as well. Needed for music in the gym as well. Which is why i will be getting cellular if i can ever get my hands on the iPhone x on EE.

The biggest thing for me is notifications ... knowing straight away if something needs further attention or not. Saves me constantly getting my phone out of my pocket. After that, the activity stuff.
Ive had an Apple Watch since they launched and I always say the same thing to people asking about it.......... it is not life changing..... but just makes stuff easier!! Personally I wouldn't be without it (and I have a very expensive Swiss watch which now gathers dust!!).

Agree that notifications is best feature, followed I would say by fitness tracking, Apple Pay/Wallet and music. I don't really use many apps at all.

In relation to the point on charging - this really is not an issue. Take watch off and drop on charger overnight. I have never run out of battery during day (even on occasion when i forgot to charge!).

Yup, I have a S2 and battery is a non-issue. And I just whack it on the charger overnight as I have never worn a watch in bed as a habit. When AirPower is released, I'll just stick it on there and charge wirelessly with my 8 Plus

Hard to say since the S3 LTE will be my first Apple Watch but I see if for answering calls

I see my usage being very similar - and I need to get my butt moving again so the activity app is going to be a big focus for me. Plus the main reason I never ordered the first 2 models was because I have very lovely 'French' watches I love to wear! The also the ability to take calls without having your iPhone to hand has finally enticed me............

I wonder how typical across the world the iPhone poll on this thread regarding the X is? I know it's a relatively tiny sample but the 256GB is proving much more popular. All the better for me as I can easily manage with the 64!

I'm pretty sure you need the Series 3 for wireless charging...

You can take calls on the other Series AW's without the phone at hand.

Yes I mean when out and out of wifi/bluetooth range i.e. nipping to the shops and leaving phone at home. My wifi doesn't even extend well around my house or out to the garden due to thick stone walls and location of routers and phone points (something I need to address when I have the time!)

I would imagine it's far from typical. The iPhone 6 is still the most popular iPhone out in the real world.

Most people have more pressing needs in their lives than spending £1000 on a phone, so that's why I don't regard the poll on here as being all that accurate when it comes to the wider world.

It's a good point to remember that the poll above is completed by people who care enough about their phone to join a forum. There are a far greater number of people who couldn't care less or who possibly have never even heard of MR. Therefore the numbers are largely irrelevant when it comes to the general public.

There are plenty of people I know running iPhones like the 4S & especially the 5 that still seems a popular device.

I might force myself to invest in an Apple Watch it will stop me constantly changing my phones every 6 months between iOS and android.

Assuming the apple watch does not work whatsoever with android?

Just walked past a Virgin Media store today and they were advertising 30GB data, 5000 mins and unltd. texts for £16/month if anyone's looking for a sim-only contract.

I am still pretty much set on Vodafones £25 sim only deal which will give me 25gb, unlimited texts and calls plus free Spotify for the duration of the contract, shame they don't offer Apple Music but hey.

Anyone on three looking for upgrade/downgrade, I called to leave and was offered 8gb, unlimited calls and texts, £10 a month. Data is plenty for me, only use it for commuting really.
Was coming from a deal of 4gb for £9 so happy to pay the extra £1 for double the data

Thats pretty damn good, but virginmedia don't support 4g or wifi calling though do they?
They do support 4G and use the EE network. Don't think it will be as fast as EE's 4G service, but it's still 4G nonetheless. Here's their 4G coverage checker.

Not sure about wifi calling support but from doing a quick Google, I couldn't see anything so maybe not.

I think their plans also have a data rollover, so potentially you could get a decent stack of unused data to use for the following months.

Also, I think EE are doing a similar deal for £18 and Three are also doing it for £18, but with unltd mins.
