Just picked mine up this morning, from my local EE, but my watch is still on back order.
Sold my old 7+ to a local phone shop and after buying out of EE I’m £160 up.

And got home just in time for my Amazon delivery of my charging pad

I do yes. Hopefully it was worth the outlay. Been benefitting for a while with my iPad Pro

I bought the USB-C to Lightening cable and plan to use it with my 85W MacBook charger. It just charged from 73 to 85 in about 8 minutes.

I'm not understanding what this cable actually is meant for (isn't all we need, just the standard USB to lightning cable)?! Can someone please explain?!

That charging pad is pretty smart. What's the output on it?

For £11 I might just buy one for the bench at work.

(Wish I was up. I'm £20 down after paying off my 7+ and getting the 8+)

Going to get one on payday

Don’t want to spend £74 on it but will need it for the x and it would be handy for my pro

How much faster charge you get with your pro?
Never actually done a detailed comparison but it’s incredibly noticeable. Might plot a few charging curves when I get a chance

i assume the forums were down for the past 10 minutes

I assume Macrumors is getting hot hard with our frenzy today!

Did anyone on the iPhone Payments have the option to pay more than the £69 initial payment and therefore reduce the monthly payments?

Not possible but you can make payments direct to Barclays to reduce the term of the loan.

Nice work on the 'profit'! I used to always be up when I sold my iPhone before upgrading when on contract especially whe eBay used to be a good, hassle free place to sell. If I were to trade in with Envirofone and settle my Barclays finance for iPhone payments today I'd be about £100 up but am waiting for the X. As long as I can cover the settlement amount and ideally the £69 upfront payment on my next phone I'll be happy. I feel fairly confident that even with a delay in getting the X that this should still be feasible since the settlement and trade in fee will both fall.

I notice that EE website has no dates for the watch delivery now - just a we'll get it to you as soon as we have it type message. Hopefully your wait wont be long or the same saga as the jet black phones last year!

...the guru serving me only asked to see my driver's license as ID, but I also took a utility bill and 3 months worth of payslips just in case!!

...Automatic Setup (only transfers Settings) is different to 'Restore from Backup' (transfers EVERYTHING). Automatic setup doesn't transfer ALL your data across:

This didn't work for me at all, first time that I have tried it too and will never use it again.

After receiving my device at 10:55, I have only just managed to get it online and working correctly using the new feature!

In summary, I used the new feature to transfer settings across, then I restored from an iCloud backup taken on my old phone moments before.

For some reason, when I restored, half of my weeks activity had randomly disappeared and I lost all my streaks and achievements using the Activity App!

Anyway, I ran a backup of the old phone through iTunes, reset my new phone and restored the new phone with the iTunes backup that I took. Everything is now working like magic!

This new transfer feature has a few bugs that need to be ironed out I think!

Still waiting for mine. DPD Phil is on 55, I’m 65. Strange thing is, he’s been in a 1 mile radius for the past 4 hours

It’s a old model but it’s around 9v.
But for £16 it was worth a go

The 8 plus is the first black front phone I've had since the 3GS.

I don't know if I can cope with all the finger prints on and around the screen!

Same output as the one you’re looking at, but a couple of quid cheaper. I’m using mine now.

I will go mental if it’s not!!

I would suggest phoning the store and asking if it’s still there for you before making the trip, demand is down this year (apparently) but in the past it’s definitely been time limited around the allocated time and a no show effectively cancels the reservation.

...so essentially, all this does is charge the iPhone 8 Plus slightly faster than the enclosed lightning cable which comes with the phone? £49 is VERY steep for that charger if the only benefit quicker charging.....
Yes it’s expensive but I find it to be worthwhile for both iPad and now iPhone, but understand it won’t be for everybody. Included iPhone charger is 5w and I notice the difference between that and a standard 12w iPad charger so hope to see a big jump with the 29w

Is that safe?

Yes, perfectly ok to use the power brick from a MacBook Pro.

This is a quote from an article in Tech Crunch:

"Like the iPad Pro before it, the new iPhones actually support faster charging rates than their provided charging dongles can provide; using Apple’s 29-watt USB-C charger (the one which ships with the MacBook) and a USB-C to Lighting cable will help you top up your device much faster. You can also use a 61 or 87-watt charger, if you happen to have one of those from the purchase of a new 13 or 15-inch MacBook Pro."
