I’d be mortified if I failed a credit check, in store, in front of people.
might have to keep a wad of £10 notes to pay in cash by just in case.

All this talk of variable stock depending if you’re doing a reservation or IUP makes me want to adjust my X plans. Previously I just planned to buy outright, but in case they go quickly I’d better practice how IUP works in the app as a backup

That’s what I’m thinking too. I’ll still probably try the buying outright first, then check for availability via IUP.
It’s fairly simple to do the IUP one but a lot of steps to click through - found either at the top of the X product page or in Account.

Is anyone else finding the 8 quite laggy? I’ve noticed a few times this morning major lags when not putting the phone under any major stress. Not that impressed by it so far and I’ve gone from a 6s!

Do they “index” like new MacBooks do? If so, that could be the cause.

Nor noticed any lag on my 8+ but there was a spell last night where the spinning symbol (not the synch symbol) in the top bar was constantly spinning and the device was running pretty hot.

All running well now.

It’s possibly more iOS 11? I’m finding it a little off on my 10.5" iPad Pro. It takes a sec to change from portrait to landscape etc. Hoping it’ll settle with a little update in the next week or so.

Not in the slightest. My 8 is absolute lightning after my ageing 6.

think we will see it as i know the note 9 is aiming for it.

I don’t think we will ever see TouchID again in the premium devices.

Assuming FaceID has no major issues (and I expect it will be fine) then there is no need at all for Touch ID. Especially as in the Keynote it was made clear hay FaceID is 20 Times more secure - why would they go backwards?

Whilst some people think that the removal of TouchID was purely down to technical limitations putting under screen - I believe that FaceID was always seen as the future (replacing TouchID), but they wanted to still include TouchID whilst transitioning and to buy them more time in implementing the face authentication. The technical issues simply accelerated their plan.

If Apple never restores TouchID and goes all in with FaceID, then I can safely say that my iPhone 8+ will be the last Apple device I ever buy.

I think the only reason they didn’t include Touch ID is they couldn’t get to work under the screen. A lot of biometric systems use both and I believe future iPhones will use both Face & Touch ID.

Birmingham apple store was less busy than a normal Saturday. Doing the IUP was a pain, as the staff member said she hadn’t been trained in how to do an IUP and didn’t know what to do with last year’s IUP phone that I was handing back. Took about 45 minutes

That’s really poor.

Yeah I would be the same. Seems like he didn't know it was a loan with Barclays, thought Apple would give him a £1000 without doing any checks he could afford the repayments.

Decided to sit it out this year and going to replace my jet black 7 with a jet black 7 plus as I could use a bit more screen size.. trouble is finding a decent one for sale , eBay is a bit of a minefield!
