Birmingham apple store was less busy than a normal Saturday. Doing the IUP was a pain, as the staff member said she hadn’t been trained in how to do an IUP and didn’t know what to do with last year’s IUP phone that I was handing back. Took about 45 minutes

I just got mine from the Birmingham store. Have to agree the store was quieter than a normal Saturday. I’m glad I decided to buy outright instead of signing up for IUP if you had that hassle!

Really enjoying my 8 plus gold 64gb. The gold colour is beautiful. Using my anker wireless charger is working well (also noticed my Series 1 watch charges on it).
Tan leather case is a great combo with the gold.
The speed upgrade from 6s is so noticeable, and the camera is a major improvement.

For anyone looking at cases for either the 8 or the X I can highly recommend Torro cases. Have had a few black Italian leather variants from them (last iPhone, current iPad Pro and iPhone 8) and they’re excellent quality and very good customer service. Overall a good experience so far.

I think the only reason they didn’t include Touch ID is they couldn’t get to work under the screen. A lot of biometric systems use both and I believe future iPhones will use both Face & Touch ID.
I agree with this. There are times when it is simply inconvenient to position the phone (or the face for that matter) to unlock via FaceID.

The most obvious example that springs to mind is when I’m sitting at my desk and have the phone flat on the desk. It is so easy to wake the phone and check it with a brief touch of a finger. Not so with FaceID.

Apple’s suggestion that FaceID is so much more secure than TouchID, even if true, is sales puff.

Decided to sit it out this year and going to replace my jet black 7 with a jet black 7 plus as I could use a bit more screen size.. trouble is finding a decent one for sale , eBay is a bit of a minefield!

I’ll be selling mine as soon as I get my X if you want to wait! Always had screen protector/case on so as good as new!

I found a barely used super slim dark blue case in my old bag for the my 7 plus when I had it, should I get a phone to use it with? lol

Having second thoughts about the X as it's first gen and trying to convince myself if I got the 256gb 8 Plus I would keep it until the X2 comes out next year, so really unsure now what to do.

The only thing I am 100% sure of is buying out Vodafone and going onto a sim only deal hopefully with a discount.

This is a tricky decision that only you can make.

The 8+ is a lovely iPhone but how will you feel when the X finally arrived?

Personally I’m never bothered by the 1st generation argument.

Sorry if I’ve added to your uncertainty.

Went as far as making a reservation for an iPhone 8 this morning. Got to the store well before my appointment and had a quick play which changed my mind & I cancelled. That made me feel better & so was the right decision. Will return to my original plan (well one of them, anyway) of seeing if I can get an X on launch or else sit it out until next year.

I am indecisive to say the least when it comes to this sort of stuff!

might have to keep a wad of £10 notes to pay in cash by just in case.

Love it!

Go in and “whap your wad on the counter”! :D

Do Apple Stores even accept cash?

My 8+ space grey arrived y'day. Put a spigen tempered glass on the front and a screen knight wet apply back, it's beautiful I'm so glad I'm finally ride of the white/silver 6+, the black bezels look a lot nicer. The phone seems quite similar to my Note 7, in terms of the grey back

Just had my Anker Wireless charter arrive.
I must say, it’s excellent and so convenient.

The build quality and style is excellent. It’s a lot smaller than I expected as well which is nice.

For £20 I’m very happy.

Highly recommended.

That's terrible, I would ask to see the manager and get them to explain why she hasn't been trained.

I paid for my iMac with cash just for a laugh. First they look at you with pure shock and horror before escorting you to a very well hidden cash drawer under the display tables with a camera overlooking it.

Presumably after this they go to the break room to talk and laugh about the absolute mad man that just came in with such primitive payment methods.

12/10, would do again.
