this is not an 'I told you so' by any means but I sense a few people having the sentiments I have had all along with the 8 when coming from the 7. There's just not enough in the update this year to justify the change, especially when the X is just over a month off. good thing Apple will happily take returns and people can decide if the X is the one for them!

I picked mine up from the trafford centre tonight.

It was a lot busier than I thought! I had a few niggles with the iUP upgrade process (essentially make sure you use the same ID as when enrolled as its linked to your loan apparently!) I also realised after I left I didn't get my SIM.

One the ID problem was solved, it was smooth sailing and very quick! Felt sorry for the staff, a lot of them looked shattered!

Sounds more like it may be a touch of the dreaded buyer's remorse to me .

The 8 is a very good iPhone albeit expensive. The upgrade from the 7 is not huge but there are significant improvements.

I wonder if Apple will continue to stick with glass backs in there upcoming phones!

The 4 and 4s were my favourite and when I got a 5 it took me ages to adjust to it there just wasn’t much terms in quality in it compared to a 4 / 4s

I still have a 4s as a iPod the 7 is just to big and falls out of jackets to easily

Thanks for this. I’ve got no idea what ID I used, and have since lost my driving licence so a) hope it was my passport and b) will try and remember to order a replacement licence in the meantime.

Reserved a 64gb space grey 8 this morning for 1pm. If I turn up early there shouldn’t be any problems should there?

Coming from the normal 6 to the 8+ feels like a big upgrade to me and I’m loving the glass back again.

Anyone managed to get fast charging working with any third party adapters yet?

Failed the credit check for Iphone payments as have o2 contract got 256gb space grey Iphone plus 8 with them.

I wonder if it's because you already have a phone contract? Did they say anything as to why?
I have two phones with o2 - never missed a payment in my life on anything and I wonder if they'd fail me too out of interest.

Seems there's plenty of stock this morning to reservation! A few combinations of the 8 and + I have tried are all available a number of London stores to collect today.

Limited stock in Cardiff. Weirdly if you want to buy outright you can’t reserve for store pickup but if you are wanting to join the iUP you can!??

Used my wireless charging pad overnight; worked perfectly :)

Less than 24 hours in and I’m really pleased with the phone

Just realised that with the little magnetic disc in the back of my case, wireless charging doesn’t work.

So I’m going to have to find another solution for the car, as the magnetic dock was great.

There only 8 available to pick up today around Newcastle is the 256GB gold all the rest say unavailable.

There is plenty of 8+ available though.

No.

The credit agencies don’t get that detailed information.

They only get an overview of what you owe and how you’re paying it off.

funny that, as you can then say you want to pay in full when you go to collect if you had reserved on IUP!

I went through the IUP process to see whether that changed things. If you do that, the Newcastle stores’ status for space grey models of 8 says “arrives by 10th Oct”.

Apple have clearly worked their magic on me as if there’d been either of the grey 8s available this morning I might have reserved one, having previously decided to see if I could get an X on release. Admittedly though, I’m tired after a long and difficult week & need cheering up so that may be increasing my readiness to upgrade!

I felt sorry for a guy when I was picking up my series 3 watch yesterday. He didn’t get approved by Barclays. He wasn’t best pleased. Talking to the the staff member who was sorting out my watch, they’ve had a lot of people failing the credit checks.

Oddly I did it again just now & the 64GB Grey is showing available for pickup today. Maybe it’s due to:

If you go through IUP, both are now showing as available at Eldon Square. Be quick!
