managed to get 5 minutes in the Apple store today and I actually walked passed the 8's on display thinking they were 7's! there's just not enough in the handsets from the 7 that would have made me change for an 8. I did have a play with the 8 and it felt tiny holding that form factor again, but being able to reach all corners of the phone one handed was great.. really looking forward to the X and the bigger screen in the form factor of the 8.

I'm leaning towards the silver this year tbh, last three phones have been space grey so need a change.

I love the combo of my white 5s with the saddle brown leather case.. going to go back to that this year. I do think given that the fronts are all black and the phone is in a case, it makes to difference what colour i get!
[doublepost=1506280966][/doublepost]going OT here but I was in the Bromley store today and asked for stock of the series 3 LTE watch. They actually had two options in stock, the stainless steel in 42mm and a space grey in 38".. Chap said they are getting more stock on Tuesday and will in in store for opening of business that day (9am)..

Think I'm going to end up with one even though I was dead against them a few months ago :D Defo need a 42" and its either space grey or space black for me.. think I need to go in store and have a proper play.

Oh and move to EE once my sim only deal expire :D

I know what you mean I also thought they were 7's though if the X were not on the horizon I might have succumbed for the camera improvements. Am also likely to get the silver X but I guess as I'll also put in a case I might just pick up whichever I can get.

I tried on the 42mm stainless steel watch with the white strap today and loved it. Am returning the 38mm gold as it is far too pink and have ordered the stainless steel. Its 3-4 weeks for delivery but will keep check local store stock to see if they get stock in quicker.

Could anyone tell me if you can preorder for collection? I want to preorder the iPhone X when it is available for launch day and get it on iUP as I was on it last year, does anyone know if I need to wait for the iPhone to release in order to reserve it or can you reserve for pick up on the pre order day?

You can reserve for IUP from the preorder day.

There’s an option in the app under the store section for the upgrade program.

It’s tricky to know exactly where to go as there is no active pre-order, as the 8 is now released.

@youngmru You can get to the IUP Page from the app. In the ‘discover’ tab scroll down to IUP

Clicking in that you’ll see more detail with a join button

From there you can see the option for IUP for the X when it launches.

I'm guessing you'll be able to join the iUP and reserve an X then be able to say in store that you want the monthly price without Applecare?

Availability for all models looks to be quite good on the online store. Currently only a 5-7 day lead time on all models except for the 256gb gold Plus which is at 7-14 days right now.

Sounds like good news as I'll only be intending to keep my 8 for a year until I can upgrade to the X2 in 2018.

As strange as it sounds, that was my reason for replacing my 7+ with an 8+ on the iUP.

I got £472 for my 7+, which pretty much pays for the payments until upgrade time next year (or gives me zero payments should I (shock horror) decide to wait until 2019’s iPhone).

I have a question about the iUP.

So if you decide to replace your phone after 12 months, you have to trade the phone back in.

But if you don’t upgrade for 2 years, and pay all the monthly payments, you keep the phone? And can then get another phone if you continue the program?

Maybe I’m missing something, but wouldn’t it be better to upgrade every 2 years if this is the case?

If you wanted to do that, the iPhone Payment plan might be best as you aren’t obliged to take AppleCare+ with it. But yes, you can keep the phone at the end of 20 months (it’s a 20 month term not 24) but your IUP ends then so you’d have to start a new one when you want the new phone.

Picked my iPhone 8 plus up on launch day from my local Apple store. Arrived 10 minutes early expecting a queue, but there was nobody there.

Anyway, had it a few days now and even done a review on it (below, for those interested).

Not sure I'll be keeping it - I might exchange for the X when it's released.

Cheers,

Jonny

You'll take quite a hit yo the wallet if you sell the 8 in a month's time.

There's no continuation - after 20 months of payment the programme ends completely. You would need to start with an all-new iUP plan.

What's the difference between the upgrade programme and the payment plan then? Is it just that the payment plan doesn't include Apple care?

Is it possible to buy out of the upgrade programme at any time? I'm interested in a 8 plus using it but I'm coming back from android so if it doesn't work out I'd like to know I'm not signing myself into a lifetime of iPhones!

Yes to both.

Oh I hadn’t realised that as I was thinking of changing my phone after 12 months. But you can’t really do that on the IUP only on the Apple Payment Plan then?

I’ve gone with a Renvoo silver bumper ‘case’ for my 8+.

Could well be my fave phone/case combo.

So what are people doing with cases? I’m caseless at the moment but I’m terrified of dropping it... I’ve always gone Apple cases before but their so expensive :/ want a really minimal one...

....I just went with Apple's own official silicone case for my iPhone 8 Plus - it provides great grip for me so I'm happy with it!

...indeed, that is correct yes.

Hitting the 'JOIN IUP' button in the app, doesn't actually make you join the program - it just takes you through the process of reserving a phone. When you get to the store, it is then that you decide if you want to go IUP or IP routes or pay for the phone outright.

Wow! I know you get a new phone at 12 months with the iUP now, but surely better to wait another 8 months if you get to keep the phone and can then sell it.

I buy outright when I want a new phone (typically 2-3 years) but good to know.
