Been with them for a couple of years now and had no problems really, was with EE and used to get amazingly fast 4G speeds of 1mbit at home compared to 50mbit plus on Vodafone.

It was not even getting 3G when walking down the main shopping street in central Newcastle, they were pretty good out in the sticks actually, it was in built up areas where i spend 95% of my time they were worse than useless. That's before I had the misfortune of having to deal with their customer services where they charged me the wrong amount for about 6 months straight.

I have heard quite a few horror stories when it comes to their customer service, touch wood never had any problems yet!

Looking around to see if I can find any deals on EE for sim only with 20gb or more data as this may tempt me to move.

It has that weird connect to a wifi but disable 4g bug which is going to be fixed in a future release and thats an insane discount, wish I knew someone at Vodafone lol.
It’s a bug that occurs intermittently and Tim Cook himself has acknowledged that it will be fixed soon, so not really “buggy” IMHO.

Re discount, it is amazing.

Until recently, I had the 20Gb tariff with free Spotify with a 100% discount, but that ended, so now I’m on the 40Gb tariff (still with free Spotify) and I pay £16 per month.

you couldnt pay me to go back to vodafone. Paying a little bit more for EE or three is a no brainer for me
Completely understand and for balance, the opposite applies to me as I wouldn’t currently touch EE or 3, due to my own personal dealings with them.

As I always say, there’s no such thing as the “best network”.

Even without the discount for £25 for 25gb with free spotify for 12 months is something which no other network can touch and in effect this would have to be £15 for 20gb or more on other networks to make it equal price wise which is more harder to come by now specially for new customers.

EE's sim only tariffs are now crazy expensive, if they did apple music for 12/24 months that may entice me but I would need to factor in an additional £9.99 a month just to get music on top of an already crazily priced tariff on EE.

Not bad really but will probably stick with Vodafone anyway! Just need to find an extra £350 (paid off another phone early in preparation) so I can buy out Vodafone completely, get a discount for sim only and grab the iPhone X through the apple store.
For £1 more, people can walk round to the vodafone store, get the same 20Gb and get Spotify or Sky Sports mobile...

Me personally i never got any 3G in my office with Vodafone so they were a no go. O2 as well are awful with 3G in my office.

Least with EE you are going to get 4G basically everywhere

But then you’re stuck on Vodafone...

Good 4G in parts and awful, almost useless slow 3G or even worse 2G as soon as you’re outside most towns.

I’d prefer to pay a little extra and have decent 4G almost everywhere on EE.

I don’t experience any of what you’ve just described.

As I said, there’s no ”best network”.

Maybe London is different to the rest of the country, but outside the cities Vodafone can be pretty crap, and not even that far outside the cities. As an example, I was on Vodafone for my work phone until April, parked outside the Newcastle General Hospital (have a look on google maps, it’s about 5 miles from the city centre) and I was stuck on EDGE!

The best network in general across the country is EE, (especially for 4G), that’s not really disputed by most of the industry, it’s the reason the emergency services network is moving to EE over the next few years.

Can barely scrape £400 now on the recycling sites for my 128GB 7 Plus, just before the keynote I was locked in at £480. So £600, minimum, to upgrade to the X - hmm, my main motivation is the smaller form factor without sacrificing screen / battery. £600 though ?

I am totally undecided on what to do the thought of entering into another 24 month agreement paying upwards of £74 is not something I really want to do but it's far cheaper than me buying out Vodafone and going sim only (the freedom is a big plus for me)

Oddly enough I am happy to pay more than £74 in total when it comes to being able to pick and choose the network I am on.

Looking at £450 for my 7 plus at the moment but going to be down i bet a fair bit before I get my hands on the x.

Just do a private sale on gumtree. I sold my 7 Plus 128GB for £540. Advertised for £600.

I have used facebook a couple of times and got pretty good prices there as well.
Precisely. Also, you meet face-to-face with the buyer, get the cash in-hand immediately and it's a done deal. Less risky as compared to sending your phone over to another company. For peace of mind, make sure to meet the buyer in a public area that is safe.

Always done that :) facebook isn't my preferred choice normally use CEX or CPW as you get cash or a bank transfer. If you trade in by post you are totally at their mercy with anything else you can make an instant decision to walk away rather than wait for it to come back (sometimes not in the same condition)

I assume this is a unlocked 256gb as I get same quote?

Mine has actually gone up on Envirofone since the keynote. I didn't lock in this year prior to the keynote as really wasn't planning to upgrade but then saw the keynote and thought about it and realised I could trade in for £80 more than balance on my iPhone payments plan and take a new plan for the X for a minor monthly increase in my payments. So the day after (13th) I checked Envirofone - even though I knew that I was waiting for the X - and got £443 (+5% = £465.15). Today it is showing as £450 (plus 5% code = £472.5). Not a huge increase but certainly better than a fall.

No doubt it will fall again but so will the balance on my 256 7+ so am fairly relaxed.

I have worked out that i have paid £571 so far (12 x £43.50 + £49 deposit) and the current settlement figure on Barclays is £348. If I sold it today and settled my finance I would have £124.50 'spare' half of which can pay the £69 deposit for the X. Also means that the 7+ has cost me £447 for a years ownership (or £34.25) which am happy with.

The bar has begun! Anyone else noticed this? (WhatsApp) but just always stuck on my screen now also... even using Chrome
