Question for anyone with a normal 8.
When you run your finger from the screen over the side towards the sim card tray, does your phone feel flush and smooth like your finger is rolling round towards the back in one continuous movement or does it feel like there is a lip almost like a square angle and your finger is travelling down a step?
It almost feels like the screen is lifting up a little bit on the right hand side.

EE's sim only tariffs are now crazy expensive, if they did apple music for 12/24 months that may entice me but I would need to factor in an additional £9.99 a month just to get music on top of an already crazily priced tariff on EE.

I pay £26 a month for 22GB and what EE call their fastest data speed. Free BT Sport, which is pretty good. 6 months free Apple Music (which I don't use, I already a subscriber)

I renewed last month with EE and now pay £25 for 30gb with free BT (which I had anyway), 6 months Apple Music and data included for the States and 4 other countries on top of Europe.

Well I took my 8+ back today for a refund... back to my 6S. The uneven screen was just too annoying and I didn't want to end up in neverending exchanges. I'll give it a few weeks and see how I feel!

That's a good deal, I have the roaming as well. I go to the US and Canada quite often, so that was a good plus for me.

For preorders through the app, is there any difference - either in speed or stock - if you order for home delivery or in-store pickup? Thinking about the X. I’d prefer to pick up in store to avoid taking a day off or working from home that day to wait for a delivery, but if I’m limited by store stock that might not be the way to give me the best shot at not waiting a long time for one

For pre orders if you buy outright via the Apple site or app you only get it home delivered. If you preorder for IUP then you can select the store/time too. Most likelihood is they there’ll be more stock for delivery than for store reservation but no one knows for sure.

Is that right ?
Can't recall from last year but with the 8 you could buy outright for either home delivery or select a pick up time at an Apple store. The issue with the latter, which I would prefer to do, is that it adds a couple more clicks...and therefore time to the checkout procedure.

Can’t you have it delivered to your place of work? The less clicks the better come 8:00!

Don’t recall with the 8 pre orders a few weeks ago that being an option.. not that I went though all the way with an order so someone might know different. Most the conversation on here was with people reserving via the IUP pages and collecting in store

PULLED THE TRIGGER

just ordered my nike+ 42mm with cellular with black nike sports band.

more affordable than SS and i get the cellular which i wanted as the big points to upgrading and of course the speed

due to arrive 3-10 nov

also just ordered the 29w charger with the USB-C to lightening cable.

will test the speed improvements on my ipad pro 12.9 as a warm up for the iphone x fast charging

Didn’t want to risk delivering to a non-billing address..

Is ordering for pickup more clicks than delivery then?

Yes, takes longer as you have to select a store then select a time slot from a drop down list as, from my experience, even if you pay up front you still have to select a time slot. Therefore you are competing for a slot alongside others who are going with the upgrade programme.
Delivery to a home address will be the quickest checkout option although I'm not suggesting it necessarily increases your chances of getting one on the 3rd Nov as I suppose that depends on how Apple have allocated stock.

Can anyone tell me what happens if your card payment gets blocked when trying to pre order (blocked as in for a fraud check) do you lose the phone and have to try again or does it stay reserved for you? And when would this happen, when pre ordering or when they try to take payment to ship it?

This has happened to me in the passed, all I done was contact my bank. Spoke to the fraud team, they unblock the payment. Left it 10 minutes, then went on to Apple store chat then they processed the payment again.

I still received the iPhone on time. I wouldn't leave it too long though as you might lose your pre-order.

I believe this option is only available after the product is launched, not on preorders.

Its still strange that the X pre-orders are weeks away. I have to say I've been very impressed with my wife's 8+ and if it wasn't for the camera setup on the 8, I'd probably have cracked by now and ordered one of those. I love the grippy finish on it and the design just seems to be the perfect version of what they started with the 6.

This is incorrect. iPhone 8 pre-orders had in-store pickup option on the app. When you click the Apple Pay button, it gives you the delivery or in-store option, where you select a time of pickup. Then you click the Apple Pay button again on that page and that's when the fingerprint option comes up.

Was going to pre-order iPhone X via store pickup, as the stock in my local store seems to be replaced quite regularly and there is available for on the day, whereas the delivery estimate is always 1-2 weeks recently.

Correct.

You can pay in full and choose “collect in store” instead of delivery. You will need to choose the store and a 30 min window to pick up.

So your order still went through even though your bank blocked the transaction, right? As in you got an order confirmation/email, you didn’t have to go to the website and pre order again?
