So I’m probably fooling myself here but had some thoughts around potential stock situation for the X.....

Undoubtedly stock will be in short supply, but question is whether that will kick in a few minutes after pre-orders start, or be like with the 7plus when some models were 2-3 weeks from the off.

Having thought about this though, I am hoping that it will be the former, for the simple reason that there are only 4 variants of the X, compared to 14 for the 7plus. Whilst it is ‘acceptable’ for some variants (when so many) to be unavailable on launch date, if that were case with X it would stand out much more and suggest that the launch date as a whole should have been delayed.

Well I like to think that they put off launch of the X so they could have enough ready for all once available. Fingers crossed!

Just bit the bullet on 8+ 256gbSG. I’ll wait for X+ or XS. Just me I know, upgrading from 7+ and happy to finally stop dilly dallying!!!!

Enjoy the X to those that order. I’ll have mine by Weds (I’m on holiday atm) so I’m happy!

I’d like to think given the delay in launching the X that they will have some amount available for launch day delivery but as you say, this would slip quite quickly.

Even with the 7+ launch, the rumour mill was in full swing in regards to production issues with the jet black finish and underestimating the demand for the plus size. With all that my 8.06am order was down to ‘ships 2-3 weeks’. I’m hoping that this would be the worst case for the X for the really early orders and have set myself up to have the phone by the end of nov. Anything early will be a bonus

Going to be interesting how dependable carriers will be for the x this year and if ordering with EE at 8.01am will get you one on the 3rd of November..as the carriers launch was a mess last year

Will probably be a S H I T S H O W like last year, got my iPhone 7 128GB Jet Black 1 month late (pre ordered from Vodafone).

This year, I am just buying it outright from Apple, much better. I'll also try ordering from Carphone Warehouse as backup and see which one gets dispatched first, and then cancel the other order.

Yep I set aside money each month into my Apple fund so I can stay on a cheap sim only deal and buy my iPhone outright.

I do exactly the same and have done since I got the 3G second hand.

Now the thought of even a 12 month contract is bizarre to me. And you couldn’t pay me to tie myself in for 24 months. I upgrade. Sell the old phone (sold my 6s for £320) that goes straight back in to the apple fund. I have an £8 sim only I can switch at any time.

I upgrade my phone every two years so it works out £892 over the 24 months (unless I find a cheaper simo) minus the £320 i got for my 6s is £572. So at most I will pay £23.80 a month.

Ah crap just thought if I pre-order on the 27th for delivery on the 3rd I am setting off from Northampton to Birmingham for an office meeting at 9am and not sure what time I will be back, do apple do weekend delivery or can you change the delivery time on that day for a later time slot?

Lol...you may be worrying over nothing, unless your meeting is in late December or early January .

To answer your question, if they use DPD I know you can change the slot easily- not sure with other companies. If it’s Yodel they use, good luck....

You would have to arrange with whoever is delivering it I think.

I booked the day off as soon as the dates were announced. I can always cancel it if my shipping date slips.

Knowing my luck it will delivered on the 3rd Nov when I am not in the office nor at home!

They always retry on the Saturday mate so don’t worry about it.

Will see nearer the time if I end up been there all day will just get it delivered to my head office instead and worst case scenario waiting till the next day won't kill me or even till Monday.

Naturally I am assuming I will be lucky with the pre-orders! Now if it's a 2 to 3 month wait I will just keep my OnePlus 5

I wouldn’t mess with delivery addresses personally. Keep it all as simple as possible to avoid delays.

Worst case you miss it and they’ll deliver it the next day. Apparently Apple have a deal with the couriers where they’ll automatically try the next day.

If it's my work address they won't deliver again until Monday so may just change it to my home address and get it the next day which is much easier.

I think they use DPD, ups and uk mail.

I’m going on holiday to lanzarote the day after the X goes up for pre- order and I’m not back until the following Saturday. If I do decide to go for the X over the 8 plus I wouldn’t be around on launch day but I doubt I’d get a launch day delivery date anyway.
