I kind of feel the same and have the similar plans to Snarlz. I also plan to hold onto my 7+ until the X is in my hands. If I don't love the X I'll return it and keep the 7+. Not sure if the 'meh' feeling stems from the to-ing and fro-ing I am having finding a S3 watch I like.

I think I would be the same, but I was silly and sold my 7 Plus before the keynote. I've been using an SE for nearly a month now. Don't get me wrong it's lovely phone, but going from a Plus to SE is a big drop.

I can only blame myself unfortunately.

I wouldn’t mess with delivery addresses personally. Keep it all as simple as possible to avoid delays.

Worst case you miss it and they’ll deliver it the next day. Apparently Apple have a deal with the couriers where they’ll automatically try the next day.

Last time I went down that route I asked them to deliver later because I was at work and it just didn’t happen. I only got the phone in the end after several attempted delivery dates because I luckily already had a day booked off and waited in all morning for it.

Do you really think it will be hard to secure a X for launch day even if you log in at 8.01 to buy it?

Surely supply can't be that limited...

Short answer yes.

I dunno, it seems like a lot of melodrama.

I’m sure if you miss that first 10-15 minute window, you’re probably screwed until 2018. But I think everyone who’s there at 8.01 on the dot will get it. I can’t think of a single Apple launch where that wasn’t the case.

Based on last year I got my 7+ jet black order confirmation email at 8.06 and it was already at 2-3 weeks.

I can’t remember if there was any jet black stock for launch launch day now but will supply of the X be any better this year compared to the JB last?

I am going to be on the apple store before 8am waiting for that button to change to buy and then frantically trying to get the order through as quick as possible before it sells out.

I posted this previously - but I think (or hope!) the Jet Black stock issue was an anomaly and 'acceptable' by fact that there were 14 different variants of the 7Plus, and so plenty of alternatives for people who wanted on launch day. With the X having only 4 variants, an opening shortage (as in for people ordering within minutes of 8.01) would seem very strange and poorly planned by Apple.

If you get a confirmation by 08.02am you should be fine.

one question i wondered

if you sign up to the apple upgrade program and use a EE sim only deal. Would you need to get it unlocked before returning to apple the year after? as i know EE lock their sims to the phone

think about it, if they had 14 variations and say for arguments sake 1 million of each (so 14 million in total), if they have 12 million at launch (as rumored) this time that's 3 million of each variation so should be easier to get the one you want - plus there should be less competition as some people have bought the 8/8+ or aren't bothering at all because of the price. I'm hopeful the delay in launch is to make sure they have a reasonable amount of stock available for launch, it may take a few minutes to get in if the site/app is running slow but i'd be seriously pissed at Apple if the date had slipped before I even had chance to get in. I remember last year the app and site took a while to come up for me and by the time they did the matte black 7+ was out of stock. I was lucky enough to be able to snag one in my local store within a few days but it was pretty full on constantly checking and looking at stock and which stores I could realistically get to. I'm lucky in that I have 5 Apple stores within a 1 hour drive. I'm pretty sure if you get on the site/app within the first 10 minutes you should get one on launch day.

I agree, am somewhat over the initial excitement and I find the X waiting rather boring:rolleyes:. Thankfully my 7 plus never disappoints; 13 glorious months and counting

Anyone got information on ordering on sites like:
- Currys
- CPW
- John lewis
- Argos
Not normally successful on apple and want the Iphone X. Do these sites do preorders on 27th aswell?
Shop.bt.com had Iphone X available for preorder couple days ago not sure if it was an error or not.

No it won't lock. It is only if you buy direct from EE that it would be locked.

Similar experience to ordering my 6S+.

At what time did you place the order, and what was the shipping estimate at the time you placed the order?

I don't have a device with access to the Apple Store app, would it be too risky to use the website/?

The app usually comes online a little sooner than the website, it did for the 8. It was a matter of minutes before the site was available after the app.

Last year it wasn’t the case for me and the website came online first.

IIRC it took a few minutes after 8.01 before the store became available. Given I got the order confirmation email at 8.06 I placed the order a minute or two before, 8.04/05. When I got to put the phone in my basket it was 7-9 days (or 1-2 weeks) I can’t quite remember! But on completing the order it had slipped to 2-3 weeks

Is there a way to stay logged in on the Apple store app? Everytime I go to checkout it asks me to login again.

Can’t say I’ve ever been logged out of it myself! Is it showing you logged in on the settings? Settings > iTunes & app stores
