I figure it’s worth a shot. They say I’ll get a call on Friday to order. I doubt they can guarantee any launch day stock but will use words to try and imply that as much as possible. I assume I can get my £25 back so it’s a no risk backup plan.

The deposit is refundable - I made a point of checking that with them yesterday.

Ok, so I did a test. Opening the Apple Store app on my iPhone 5S (running 11.1) and going to the "Add to Bag" page takes about 15 seconds in total. I wish I had a faster phone so I could reduce the time here, but well, I have to deal with it.

So basically, you:
  • Click on "Add to Bag"
  • Go to your Bag
  • Select the item
  • Make sure the delivery option is selected and the correct payment option is selected (in my case, that would be Delivery to my shipping address that's on the file, and my debit card that's on the file)
  • Click Pay/Checkout

and that's it, right? You don't have to enter your Apple ID and password, or do some sort of verification (SMS based) to confirm the order, or anything else, am I right? Can someone who has pre-ordered/ordered in the past confirm to me these are the steps to place an order and I am not missing anything else?

When I did the IPhone 8 preorder I had to enter the security code on my debit card, even though I thought I had Apple Pay set up. Maybe because I used my iPad instead of my phone? Would my phone be quicker?

Did they give you any details on how it works?
Is it just a case of they give you some more money off and you join the queue with everyone else?

Deal is that I’ll get a call on Friday morning where I can pre-order my phone, and they will match the £25 deposit.

There’s some uncertainty about whether it’s a contract offer or if you can but SIM free. That’s why I checked about it being refundable in the event hat it’s obly contract or hey don’t have the version I want.

Still going to try to pre-order direct from Apple as my first option though.

I took a screen grab of their website which says 'contract options' and then has sim free under it, and three example contracts (all too expensive). So hopefully will mean they accept sim only

Our contract options for iPhone X:

SIM free £999
Data Monthly cost Upfront cost
20GB £62.99 £179.99
26GB £64 £100
30GB £66 £129.99

The 26gb looks like the current Vodafone ‘16GB plus 10gb free’ deal. Same deal for IPhone 8+ 256GB is £64 per month with £60 up front so lines up. Still a little rich for me - around £26pm for the plan once you take out the price of the phone. That’s more than my current 8gb for £17, or VF's 20GB for £20

will this work when applying for iUP?

The value of my 7 Plus 128gb has gone up £10, maybe a reflection of how popular this handset still is. Anyone got their phones "locked in" for sale?

When I gave them a call they explicitly said it was only for contract as the deal said they match £25 for the upfront cost.

When I spoke to them an told them I wanted to buy the phone outright they said that’s not an option on this deal

Holy moly. Just noticed a * next to the initial information. You can only find out what that means by scrolling about 8 miles down the page past all the Apple marketing guff.

This offer is open to customers who pay a £25 deposit for the iPhone X only. All depositing customers will have their £25 deposit plus an additional £25 added. This is to be used for all customers who pre-order an iPhone X. Customers must register by 5pm on Thursday 26 October 2017 to be eligible for the extra £25 incentive towards their pre-order. Customers will have until 26th January 2018 to redeem their extra £25 incentive. When pre-ordering the new iPhone X, depositing customers will be able to offset any upfront costs and additional products in the transaction using the £50. Alternatively, this amount can be refunded in whole/part via a cheque. If they do not wish to use this against the pre-order, then only the original £25 will be returned to them. Refunds can only be paid via the method you registered for. This offer is only available in store and on the phone 0800 049 6250. This offer is not available online.

All customers that preorder suggests it includes sim free. Nothing in that suggests it is limited to contracts
[doublepost=1508624771][/doublepost]Does iStockNow work ok on iPad or on Friday should I use a computer for tracking that? Any other good options for tracking preorder options on the morning of the 27th in case Apple run out quickly?

Frustrating there is still no contract tarrifs for the 256B iphone X.

be annoying if there is nothing until the day of pre order
[doublepost=1508629269][/doublepost]those doing the IUP do apple rather you do it via the app or the browser?

If you’re already on it, easier to do via the app as they have a seperate, dedicated route into the process which usua your details so that’s what I’ll be using.

From Apple UK page, no mention yet of getting ahead start

will this work when applying for iUP?
I think last time there was a separate link for IUP wasn’t there? I need to work it out too. I was going to upgrade but I think i’ll keep my iPhone 7 Plus and take out a new agreement for the X
[doublepost=1508659535][/doublepost]Has anyone paid off their Barclays Finance loan agreement early for the iPhone 7 iUP?

Had a parcel being delivered by DPD today (from ASOS). There was no 'Upgrade Delivery' option at all last night or this morning, to select the pre-10:30am slot. Apparently it's dependant on many factors such as how busy they are, the route, the company the items are from.

Not very optimistic this option will be available for the X launch from carriers such as EE who use DPD.

Just checking a couple of things:

1. I can't find any 'head start' on the UK page for new iPhone UP users to sign and be credit checked for the X. Is this right?

2. I am debating whether iPhone UP is worth it or not. I don't want to buy AppleCare + and that's bundled in. I can afford to buy the X outright. Has anyone got any experience/done the math on whether buying outright then selling to Mazuma/other sellers works out about the same/more/less expensive for those who plan on upgrading every year?

Wondering exactly the same. Someone pleases comment.

Pre approval is only for US, you can’t get pre approved in the UK as credit check and enrolment happens in store and not online.

I think if anyone can afford to buy it outright, it’s silly to get a credit agreement and have a credit search for nothing. Yes it’s a bit more of a pain to sell to Mazuma or something but I personally think the benefits outweigh the negatives.

Reselling nearly always will get you more than the equivalent in IUP. If you can afford it, npbuying outright is the way to go.

One risk this time around though is if X2 is either significantly improved, or significantly cheaper. Could impact resale prices. But you can try to mitigate by selling prior to the keynote..
