On the Apple Store app every time I go to primary payment my security code is blank and I have to enter the 3 digits every time. Everything else is filled in but the 3 digits. Even when I do I practice run and go to checkout wanting to buy an iPhone 8 I get to confirm and I click on primary payment and my 3 digits are blank (even though "Place Order" was clickable I still went on my card details to check)

The only way you’ll be able to bypass this is by using Apple Pay.

The security code will always remain blank to keep your card secure.

It may be too hopeful but I’m already looking at cases and wireless charging pads.

I know it’s a slim chance of getting one on release day and I’ll be so disappointed if I don’t, but I can’t not remain optimistic... which is a good thing, right? Haha

I’ve already contacted Barclays and told them to put a large transaction marker on 27th of Oct, so fingers crossed I don’t have to clear with my bank on pre-Order day. But I saw some previous posts mentioned that it won’t make the delivery day slip, if that’s true then it’s reassuring.

Cheers.

Think it’s been mentioned before but this won’t stop any blocks being placed if the spend is seemed suspicious. They’re all done automagically and all the nite on your account does is when an agent comes to look at your account they’ll see it’s been cleared by yourself in advance. You’re likely to have either been contacted by bank or you call them in that time.

Had a parcel being delivered by DPD today (from ASOS). There was no 'Upgrade Delivery' option at all last night or this morning, to select the pre-10:30am slot. Apparently it's dependant on many factors such as how busy they are, the route, the company the items are from.

Not very optimistic this option will be available for the X launch from carriers such as EE who use DPD.
From speaking to them if there isn’t an upgrade delivery option on the website they can still upgrade it over the phone if you speak to an advisor who can manually put it through to you

Not seen this recently, but..

Trying to remain relaxed about Friday morning but it's not easy....

Ive decided that if delivery dates on the X slip beyond what I am prepared to accept, I will go for an 8+ and wait for next years update - this should induce a calmness in me but it hasn't worked yet! :D

If shipments are constrained well into Q1( say March) would Apple really then want to release a new phone only 6 months after the X starts reaching the hands of the masses? Surely that would just cannibalise the X sales. Could the delays be the dawn of a new era of phone launch dates?!

Don’t know why I’m worried, I’ll have mine in my hands on the 3rd!

I get this too. I have Apple Pay registered but it still asks for my 3 digit code. Very confusing.

I already bought three cases - caudabe clear case, spigen liquid crystal and spigen ultra hybrid. Want a decent clear case at least while waiting for impressions on other options (ideally front/rear screen protector and no case)

Will be considering a screen protect his year too seeing my 7 has a few little marks on it.

Will be interesting to know if Apple will be able to apply the Belkin protectors in store from day one or not

Last year in-store pickup wasn't an option - all in-store stock was allocated using the reservation system. Now in theory, the reservation system is for people who want to join the iPhone Upgrade Programme only. In practice, last year you could reserve for the Programme but then pay in full when you collect. I'm not sure if that will be allowed for the X.
This definitely was available. They just changed the system you had to use to do it. You had to go via the Apple Store and pay as if you were shipping to store - but once you'd done that, the process was the same as previous years. Phone held in your name (but already paid for) :)

You just couldn't "Reserve" a phone for non-iPP/iPuP pickup at the reservation site - you had to pay via the store.

On the subject of waiting for the X, I’m interested to know how this’ll impact future iPhone releases going forward. A lot of people are going to have a new upgrade cycle and will only be able to upgrade in November. Will they stick with announcing in September but then a later release?

I’m sure there will be one in sept. I can just imagine the ten ‘s’ just launching later again.

There will be people on IUP with the 8/8+ who would be pretty miffed if there wasn’t an update in 12 months

Hope this is true, might be quicker than if i order on contract with EE
This is the only reason I've not yet paid off my iPuP from last year. I can't be 100% sure they're using different stock, but based on the way the 8 works for existing iPuP members, it uses a different system of availability data, and passes around upgrade keys based on the phone you're upgrading from.

It could just be they're preventing you reserving 2 phones with that code I guess (there are translation strings for "You've already reserved an upgrade with that phone"), but realistically, based on what they did for Americans last year (phoning them up if you couldn't get the phone you wanted) - I'm guess is that they've got some dedicated stock for iPuP upgrades.

Those keys also make it hard to track stock levels on each system. Since Apple phoned me last year and asked me to stop publishing stock data, I've kinda avoided prodding too deep for the sake of them not banning me completely - but those keys would mean I'd be uniquely trackable, and it's not worth not getting an X :p

Also, here's a cool Easter egg for you that made me laugh. The reservation system has a translation sting calls "sosumi" which they're using to contain the text about capacity being taking up by the OS. The name "sosumi" relates to the alert sound they added into System OS 7 when they were going through the Apple Corp legal case.

Oh, and finally: I wouldn't be surprised if reserve-prime was only for iPhone 8 orders, and they used a different URL for X. Nowhere near 100% confident on this - but there are a few URLs which are returning access denied (over 404s) at the moment - which is a sign that maybe things will appear there.

Just checking a couple of things:

2. I am debating whether iPhone UP is worth it or not. I don't want to buy AppleCare + and that's bundled in. I can afford to buy the X outright. Has anyone got any experience/done the math on whether buying outright then selling to Mazuma/other sellers works out about the same/more/less expensive for those who plan on upgrading every year?

Another option is to go on the upgrade programme and then settle it early and sell it on (£250 still to pay to Apple, £350 for the phone from Mazuma). I'll then just start a new agreement for my X

I got excited for a minute there.

I’m on the iup and just got an email from Apple telling me to “get ready to upgrade to iPhone X”

Was hoping it would be a link so some fast track upgrade route for existing members but was basically telling me to check eligibility and then get in the same queue on Friday.
