I’m going to explore Apple Pay this time, as long as it doesn’t push back my delivery date I’m fine, I mean as long as you attempted to pay, you’re locked in right?
I was going to try Apple Pay this time. I have ordered cheaper items through the store using Apple pay with no problems. I assume thhat if the bank blocks the payment, you have time to redeem the situation and not lose your place

I think I am going to force myself to buy the phone outright and stick with Vodafone for another 12 months then use the money from the iPhone 10 to buy out the last 3 months or so from Vodafone and then go the IUP route from that point onwards.

Will be putting the phone onto my credit card anyway and then I can make a final decision.

Got an email from Vodafone today - they’re offering free AirPods when you preorder an iPhone X through them.

Also considering Apple Pay but haven’t people had issues in the past because there is a “gap” between the initial pre-order and when the payment is taken on shipping ?
Only tempted with the Apple Pay route as it will save a few seconds comparative to doing “other payment options”and potentially having to input your verification number, from the reverse of your card, for example.

A guy on facebook confirmed the O2 store he is working in is getting less than 5 Iphone X's on launch. Not good news on stock :/

Not surprised, recent reports suggest 2-3M units for launch.

to the first 1,000 eligible customers, invitation only. Also their plans look expensive enough I could probably still buy outright with a similar SIM only plan, buy a pair of airpods and still spend less.

Sounds like a good offer, but I honestly doubt whether they will have 1000 units of X to fulfil 1000 orders.

Can anyone who has ordered with Apple Pay in the past confirm this? If its a problem then I will just go down the debit card route

1000 units should be easy enough even with constraints.

Although why would VF be offering such a relatively good sweetener if supplies are so tight? Surely they'd sell out anyway. With that and the £25 bonus from CPW maybe launch stock is better than thought so there is a bit of competition?

Nice optimism... only problem is the carriers certainly don't limit the number of plans they sell to the number of iPhones they have. They just keep selling and selling and misleading customers, and then inform you of delays once it is too late for you to do anything about it.

I am locked into a contract so will be letting it run it's course and buying the phone outright I reckon, nice promotion though but I would not qualify as my early upgrade date if I chose to use it is the 3rd of November.
Before everyone gets excited about this offer... it's invite only!

Wonder if my dad will get this offer

He has been with them for over 15 years.

My mum contract is ready to upgrade.

In the past people who have used Apple Pay have had issues when it came to the point of the device shipping. This was not a problem at the time of pre order only when Apple went to charge the full amount later in the week. Pretty sure everyone was able to clear the payment with their bank and then Apple retry the payment successfully. No one I recall had any impact to delivery dates

I really don’t know whether to buy outright first then do IUP or IUP first then outright. I’m planning on doing both to see what dates I get, whatever is better I’ll cancel the other, just not sure which to do first!

Ah so it wont delay the order, if I managed to get an early ship date as long as I ring apple to confirm I will get on time?

Correct, I used Apple Pay as it’s a faster ordering process than using a credit card.

When the device is ready to go from processing to preparing to ship, that’s when the problem happens.....

I think there was a few weeks delay between ordering and my iPhone shipping (7 plus jet black) and a week between my 10.5 Pro.

It seemed that delay didn’t work well with Apple Pay and the payment failed, even after talking to my bank (Halifax)

Apple had to sort it on their end, and I think the solution was to pay with the credit card directly rather than Apple Pay.

Despite these problems I’m still going to use Apple Pay again.

Exactly, that's what happened with ordered the Jet Black iPhone 7, when I pre ordered they said they have it, and then they kept delaying delivery claiming manufacturer delay and then I finally got it in mid-oct, one month late.

They just want you to buy an expensive plan and will do anything to get you on it and then keep delaying the phones. They hand out contracts for phones they don't even have in stock!

Same here with EE, in November(!) I finally got a call to say that they had one, I told them to get lost!

i agree the :apple: pay route is friction-less as i have used it for previous iPhone purchases , however i will be using a debit card to avoid wasting precious time resolving any AP issues

How do I have it autofill my address when using OTHER payment options? When I select this it has my postcode already filled but nothing else... I added my address to my account so no idea why it doesn't auto show it :/

Has anyone used the Phone Payments option? Assume I just add the phone to my bag, select pick up in store and then sort it when I get to the store?

Is there also a quick way to add two phones to your bag?

This what worries me ordering with EE and how long I would need to wait which is why I will be going via IUP first

It's the same with all carriers, pre-ordering via them is an absolute S H I T S H O W. They over-promise and under-deliver and completely suck at communicating stock issues!
