Has anyone used the Phone Payments option? Assume I just add the phone to my bag, select pick up in store and then sort it when I get to the store?

Is there also a quick way to add two phones to your bag?

There is no pre order option for iPhone payments. You’d need to go down the IUP route and bag one to collect in store and then tell them you want IP rather than IUP

If you pay in full online and collect in store do you get to pick a collection slot? That’s the only advantage I see.

Some of us enjoy the excruciating courier tracking on delivery day. If these phones are delayed as expected then there will be a lot of plane spotting going on in the following weeks

Hello all once again for our annual event! :)

This year I am reluctantly going to be sensible and preorder via Vodafone. I have never done this before and I was wondering if anyone can help answer two questions:

1. Is the iPhone X likely to be locked and/or branded to Vodafone?

2. Anyone got any tips for the pre-order process with Vodafone? Not expecting them to be as slick as Apple with their website updated for 08:01.

In previous years I’ve always been able to pick an iPhone up fairly quickly from a shop after the release day, which seems unlikely this year. So instead I’ll be ordering using Apple online.
From what I’ve read they use a few different couriers depending on the area. I know DPD and UPS have pickup shops near me, so I was just wondering if anyone who’s had previous tech delivered by them on release day knew if they had an option to pick up from a pickup shop if I’m at work next Friday?

Now that the iPhone 8 launch is but a distant memory, would it be possible to change the poll to a straight: Which iPhone X model are you getting? Black 64, silver 64, black 256 or silver 256? Intrigued to see what is going to be the most popular option.

Yes, you have to select the store and then a 30 minute pick up slot - by the time you’ve done that and completed checkout you’ll probably get a message saying “Sorry, no longer available” - it will be quicker to go for home delivery re the checkout process, the less “clicks” and drop down options the better.

In terms of question 1 yes it’d be locked to Vodafone but you can request to get the carrier lock removed on their website; think there’s a fee if you’re less than 12 month into your minimum term.

Tested out the IUP process in the apple store app with the iphone 8 plus to see how fast it is and when i get to the 'pick up information' screen it asks me to input the phone number of the person who will pick up the phone. Can i get that to auto-populate somehow?

Put it in the clipboard. That’s what I’m doing.

Right I think I have got everything ready for Friday.

1) Setup HSBC for apple pay as the primary payment method
2) Cancelled the EE sim and sticking with Vodafone
3) Added both the black and white iPhone 10 as favourites on the Apple Store app
4) On pre-order day tap favourites then SG then tap Apple Pay.

The final plan after changing my mind so many times is to buy the phone out right using Apple Play through my iPad.

As this is the first time I have tried this is what I want to do possible and will it work ok?

No branding whatsoever and will more than likely be locked to Vodafone. And just try and get the pre-order done as fast as you can really no magic or secrets, just click like crazy and don't delay.

If you use Apple Pay on iPad you may need to enter the three digit security code on your card. I did when preordering the Iphone 8. Others talking about not needing that maybe used heir iPhones?

Wouldn’t trust Vodafone - their site has problems all the time, so any rush of demand on preorder day could make it fall flat on its face

I like a bit plane tracking for Apple goodies. The s3 Watch was already in the UK or at least only trackable from the day before which took a bit of fun away!!

Good idea on putting the x in favourites will save a little time at least

Think I’m all set on ordering via IUP on the Apple store app on my iPad then on EE via MacBook.

Ultra wide monitor so I can have macrumors forum, VF, CPW, EE tabs all open at once. Then my iPhone with the apple store app for purchase outright for delivery using Apple Pay, and my iPad for apple store reserve for pickup or possibly IUP
