Here's my thoughts. I will try and order via the Apple app on my iPhone 7 Plus at 8.01 and try and go through the upgrade programme. If I get one and manage to get a pick up for the following Friday, excellent! If I can't and I have to wait a couple of weeks, or even a month, so be it. I have a great phone a the moment and I can't do any more than try and get onto the site at 8.01 and order. If it doesn't work it's not my fault, it's Apple's!!! Simple.

Just went on to Envirofone as I'll be selling on my 6S+ 64gb. The price they give has changed over the course of today. Looked earlier, they were offering £260, now they're at £249! Not a massive change I know, but a bit annoying. My own fault for waiting.

I was quoted £280 the other day lol

Just got a text message from Caroline warehouse saying I’ve paid my deposit and make sure to give them a call tomorrow to reserve

But when I went into store they clearly said they would phone me on Friday

Whatever, it’ll wait until I’ve exhausted Apple options
So ring like everybody else? not sure they will hold to this to get it on the 3rd but will see.

EE pricing is in for the 256GB version and it looks truly horrible. Glad I’m buying outright.

I've been on the upgrade programme for 12 months now with an iPhone 7 Plus and I want to upgrade on the 27th to the X. I'm worried that faffing in the checkout with iUP details will take longer than just buying the phone normally.

Could I buy it outright in via the app/website then take it to a store for a refund and then enroll that same device into my existing upgrade programme?

Is this a crazy idea?

I'm on the iUP too, I have no idea how it's going to plan out. I assume during credit check it'll reserve us a spot in line

Is this the quickest way into the IUP using the app?

1) Add to favourites the model you want

2) when store opens click accounts
3) click on your favourite
4) click on the learn more button for IUP at the top

5) carry on with IUP

I'm going:
1) Account in the Apple Store app
2) Select iUP option (3rd in the list)
3) Click my phone I want to upgrade
4) Click the button Upgrade in Store
5) Then select iPhone X and storage options :)

Thinking about starting the progress at maybe 7:40am then flicking between the 'What iPhone would you like?' page and 'Eligibility Status' page until 8:01am

There is no credit check during the pre order. That’s all done in store.

Not sure what the experience will be for existing IUP members, but surely can’t be more than letting to reserve a device in store.

Seriously who needs 100GB. I'm a heavy mobile data user, I stream everything and I don't get near the 25gb allowance.

I’m ordering direct from Apple in the morning.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on adding AppleCare before check out?

Looks like another step that might slow down the process ha, might but it at the later date!

I actually am going to do this, I have also favourited a case if they become available tomorrow morning. I'd rather have it all done and dusted. Just been on Apple website to check all my details and delivery address etc even got the money in my account just incase

I don’t think that will work. When the store is down, it’s totally down and so you can’t navigate between pages.

What is everyone’s strategy for those that are on the iUP using the app?

Currently I’m thinking:

1) open app
2) click on account at the bottom
3) click on iPhone upgrade programme
4) click on your current phone that’s on the programme
5) click on reserve to upgrade in store
6) select the iPhone x

Now I don’t know what happens beyond this point, how do I make sure my card details are saved on the app for quicker checkout etc?

Thanks

If it works like the 8, the app will be down until 8:01. Us iUP will have the extra steps before we get to reserve the phone. I’m thinking whether it might be worth buying to pick up in store then refunding to upgrade. I went in on 8 preorder for my wife and it was easy there was tons of stock for upgrading in store. Have a feeling this could be a whole lot different for the X

Someone leak the o2 prices. Luckily I have people order for me on Apple store app just incase my o2 order time is terrible or they kick me out and make me join their queue again.

Let's hope not - Barclays have already set out everyone's loans ID, so i'm not sure if that'll be needed during the reserve? Most probably going to be for use instore during the upgrade.

You can buy Apple care up to 60 days after your purchase IIRC

Ohh... Erm, probably take the same steps then but forget about going backwards and forwards pages waiting for refresh :)

That's a good idea... Too many steps for iUP members, I thought joining the scheme would be less work :(
