yeah 100GB is overkill but it's for what the price would be for 25GB it seems. that price is annual upgrade btw

It's still a 2 year contract you sign though. I'm worried for EE's customer who use the Annual upgrade, their terms are really quite harsh. Basically the phone needs to be in perfect condition when you swap to a new one.

I'm going:
1) Account in the Apple Store app
2) Select iUP option (3rd in the list)
3) Click my phone I want to upgrade
4) Click the button Upgrade in Store
5) Then select iPhone X and storage options :)

Thinking about starting the progress at maybe 7:40am then flicking between the 'What iPhone would you like?' page and 'Eligibility Status' page until 8:01am

The app will only display the ‘come back later page’ until the store opens. No clicking around for you unfortunate

As long as it has no damage I'm sure it will be ok. Will let you know next year lol

That's a good idea... Too many steps for iUP members, I thought joining the scheme would be less work :(

After the stock issues on the black devices last year and loads of unhappy US upgraders, Apple indicated it would be easier for upgraders this year. Not sure if it will be, would be nice if some stock was allocated specifically for upgraders, but I doubt there will be. Personally I would have liked to have the pre agreement option and not have to visit the stores like the US, especially as it saves me an 80 mile round trip!

EE price is truly a rip-off, if you factor in the cost of a sim only plan over two years, you are paying around £1600 for a £1149 phone.

Online option would def be easier.

FWIW, I have heard there will be ‘priority’ for those of us on the IUP in getting a phone post day 1. Even if the store stock sells out for day 1, you can select the X and when any stock does come into store, it’ll be allocated to those on the IUP first. Not sure if this will help with getting one for day 1 but would save the scenario where you can only select a reservation date if the store has stock.

Can’t wait until tomorrow is done but so nervous. Could go really smoothly (unlikely) but likely to be a bloodbath. Just hope the store comes up on time and we’re not all having to constantly refresh. Thankfully, I’m ‘working’ from home :p

Those prices are absolutely outrageous! Giving you 100gb to try and justify those costs is a disgusting

I am wondering why they're not offering more plans, they're only offering the most expensive ones. It's the same with other carriers - O2, 3 and Vodafone. They should offer more monthly plans with lowest cost, at the expense of higher upfront price. Say, £55/month with £300 upfront. Or something.

Ok guys, need some advice. The other half is jumping in for a 256gb X tomorrow, and it’s the first time she is ordering directly from Apple while buying outright. I normally preorder through O2 so I’m useless.

What time do preorders go live?

What’s the best platform to use? iOS Safari? The Apple app? Desktop?

Good luck tomorrow! Pre orders go live at 8.01am. You’ll be best off using the Apple Store app and paying with Apple Pay. If you set up the model you want as a favourite tonight you’ll save yourself a couple of steps in the morning too!

100GB is a smoke screen. What they’ll count on is massive under utilisation of that amount and there will definitely be a fair use policy on use of that data as a hot spot. There will be people out there conned by the amount and paying for what they’ll never use.

Yep, I always buy from Apple and put my SIM in, I have a SIM only deal with EE 25GB for £26 a month.

Yeah but if you want to upgrade after 12 months you’ll have to dump another £500 in whereas on the upgrade contract it’ll only be £100 odd.
Fair enough if you don’t plan on upgrading after 12 months but otherwise I don’t think there’s much in it.

Exactly, 99% of customers who actually buy the tariff won’t get anywhere near the data usage.

This is clear from the tariffs below, only being marginally cheaper. Whether you go for 25GB or 100GB they’re pretty much expecting the same data usage from you.

Sure this has been asked a million times before but this thread is over two hundred pages long(!!) so does anyone know whether silver or space grey is likely to be most popular? Not bothered about the colour so will go with which ever I have a better chance of getting.

The important question is probably what is the most popular vs apples expectation.

If black is most popular and Apple expected that, then they’ll have made more of them.

Therefore there’s not much benefit in knowing which is actually more popular unless you know Apple’s manufacturing mix.
